I wish I had just bought a straight electronic piano; all the extras don't really add value and it's complicated. Also the recording feature is about useless; even a recording guy couldn't figure it out. I would recommend this keyboard to a beginner who just likes to play around and practice

I love my YPG-235 Portable Grand 76-key keyboard! It has about 128 voices, 489 XG Lite voices, a 32-note maximum polyphony, a pitch bend wheel and also comes with a stand. I am the only musician in the family who plays it. My dad bought it for me for Christmas in 2012--that was about six years ago. I played a lot of songs on this instrument, mostly pop, rock and jazz covers, traditional gospel songs, holiday favorites and Latin-infused songs.

I brought this to learn on I a have not play keyboard in 21 years getting back into it, I love the Split and Dual I paly worship music and I used lots of strings and guitar sound great in worship. I have not try my iPad yet that is next, if you hook this up to Mackie Speaker you will hear a better keyboard I know it will sound great with garage band. I was low on money so I can only afford a used keyboard it was in great condition need to buy a keyboard bag so I can carry to church, so it a great keyboard work well in church when connected to the PA System, I gave it four star because I have not connect my iPad it.

I love my keyboard but because it was so difficult to use the midi feature (which I do on stage) I can't give it a very good review for that. It caused me no end of frustration trying to get it hooked up and wouldn't even work with a piece of equipment meant to solve that problem because Yamaha is not midi class compliant. So beware, if you plan to use this as a midi instrument there are no standard midi ports either. You are just out of luck unless you plan on running it through the computer to use it with midi. Useless as a midi stage instrument. Sorry Yamaha. It's a great sounding instrument, easy to use and light weight (portable) and fits the bill for an at home instrument to learn on or enjoy. I wouldn't recommend it to a professional musician using any sort of midi application.

I am still a novice after 2 years.I got a lern how to play program for Xmas. I will learn. The display is too Small. I don't see that well. Come on Slant the Display. I am Handicapped. I can't stand to see the display. Let us chose our free songs or at least 50% . You wont play what your not familiar with. I understand some are made easier for beginners. When I bought the Survival Program. The package said get 300 free songs. I called Yamaha and some guy called. I never got back to him but his message said there was no such thing. Well There Was One of the reasons I purchased it. Yes I got the pedal and Electric converter.

Great product!! I play it as a stand alone instrument or I own a Yamaha organ that has input jacks which greatly enhances the sound. I also own a older Hammond organ which also has input jacks and let's me play sounds through the organ which it is not capable of making, plus the sound of some of the voices is fantastic going through the Leslie tone cabinet. Love it, still learning everything it can do.

As an absolute beginner, I find this impressive keyboard difficult; BUT I am not giving up. I have bought books that were created for children and a computer program called "Music Ace 2" which is a fun way to learn. I could not find anything at the Yamaha sites for beginners which disappointed me! I bought this keyboard instead of a beginner keyboard because I liked the sounds it produces. I plan to use it to keep my mind active.

This keyboard is nice balance of features, great sound and price, and it's a lot of fun to play. There are plenty of voices to get just the sound you want and the auto accompaniment features have a great range of styles from a simple arpeggio to a full band. The only disappointment is that the digital music notebook software which comes on the CD ROM appears to be a dead end as the web site link no longer exists

It Had been 20 years since I bought my previous Keyboard. I was amazed at the advances that had been made. This is a fine instrument for my uses. playing for family gatherings. In fact we are starting a family band with grand children and great grandchildren all joining in. The documentation is great and the usb connection is superior over the old floppy disks. I love it. It sounds great.

I use my new Yamaha keyboard to practice learning the piano by playing standards from the 60s. I also have an upright piano to practice on, but hte Yamaha keyboard is convenient when I travel. I also like the earphone port when I need to be quiet around the house.

I took piano lessons for about 12 years when I was younger, and quit playing for 32 years. I had been wanting to start back playing, so I really wanted a keyboard that played like a piano. The YPG-235 is exactly what I was looking for, it is easy to play and it sounds good. I purchased the bundle package that included stand, bench, headphones and extra year warranty, and was very impressed with the quality of all of it for the price. Would certainly recommend to anyone thinking of purchasing.

I find it to be a very useful keyboard for me because I am "re-learning " to play and it is a very good instructor. The price was also a factor (so much piano for a such a reasonable price). I am using it to compose and play again. Thanks for this great 2nd start on my music. M. bush

You would thing that out of the Box Yamaha would make the MIDI USB compatible with a Mac. I've tried to search for drivers and downloads, but they don't talk about the new Mac Operating System 10.9. The only download is for 10.4 and every time I try to install it our connect to my mac I get errors. Spent the better half of Christmas day messing around with it and if I can't figure it out by tomorrow, back to the store it goes.

This is an awesome product. I've been a musician for over 60 years and have played many different acoustic and electronic keyboards in my lifetime. This electronic keyboard is exactly what I was looking for. The "sweet" sound of Yamaha is outstanding, it has everything on it you could ever wish for, the portable grand sound is perfect, and it only weighs 18 lbs. I can carry it anywhere. The acoustic piano was always my instrument. I never thought I could find any keyboard that would compare. This keyboard has surpassed my expectation. And I LOVE it!

Bought it as a new beginner. The key board is nice and I like the teaching software but it only has 30 songs and most of the songs to learn are mostly beyond beginners mode that I feel daunted.

Value is what I give this system, and it IS a System. With the support of the Manual (which is easy to get first time)I am having a good time. The Sound as is is warm with Extremely Natural tones & voices, You hear the action of Keys or strikes in the production of each sound Voice and Percussion. I am just getting started in the MIDI World but I am confident in what I am going to be able to accomplish. If only there were Lighter "D" batteries, and would be right with the world. I have played/recorded Music and I never waste Money on Bad Gear. From what I've been told by Key Players better than Myself, this is a "Solid Buy". May this find You all well......PEACE
