Great affordable flash

I bought this for my Sony A7iii and it works great. I use it in manual and it works well as an affordable and good quality flash for all my events.

Love these little flashes!

I'm a huge fan of these flashes! They really are the best bang for the buck! I use these mostly as my off-camera flashes on light stands at receptions. Since they're very affordable, I don't have any concerns about one getting broken at a wedding and replacing it! I love their optical slave option and love that I have have my second shooters also use the OCF that I have set up. Love these Yongnuos!

Unusually Durable?

For some reason everyone has problems with theirs, but mine has been amazing. Surviving from falling out of ceiling and me landing on it, constantly getting beat up, and really it keeps going and going. Slave function was VERY inconsistent, but if you need a cheap throw away flash, look no further.

Great product well worth the money

These work exceptionally well. I purchased three of them and have used them both in studio and outdoors without any problems. The recycle time however is a bit too slow for continuous shooting sports, even with an external battery pack. An average of 2-3 shots in between flashes when shooting in continuous/burst mode, except when at 1/128. I got off about 500+ shots with new batteries before they needed to be recharged and over 2000 with the external battery pack. The higher the MaH of your batteries, the faster the recycle time, and recycle time is less than half of normal when used with an external battery pack, which is probably the same or better with AC adapter which I plan to order. I love the multimode, and being able to control all my off camera flash from my camera via the YN560 TX is wonderful.

Worked, but not what I needed

This functioned fine, but it wasn't capable of what I needed. I wanted to not only fire it, but also control the power level remotely with my Godox system. The power control was not compatible with my Godox trigger so I returned it.

Performance + Value

This is the second YN560-IV for me and I highly recommend this flash if the features suit your purposes. I only down-rated this unit due to interference with some camera bodies. Pros: - Build is on par or better than other speedlites - Price point - Built-in wireless receiver compatible with Yongnuo TX. This includes control by YN560-TX. - Ease of use - Hot shoe is "cold" when using RF or IR wireless. (Not all speedlites shut off the juice.) Cons: - Optical receiver "bump" at lower front of flash may physically contact the prism housing on some dSLR bodies, specifically the Pentax K-3. The degree of stress on the camera shoe and flash body is small, but enough to suggest that on-camera use with some bodies may not be recommended. - Yes, the provided instructions suck Notes: - As with many (most? all?) speedlites the hot shoe contact remains "hot" even when sync is via the PC fitting. Care should be taken to avoid shorting the flash by mounting to a conductive cold shoe when using PC sync.

Best third party flash

These are about the best third party speed light you can get. With a built in wireless receiver, they are a real value. Just get the adjustable transmitter and you have a great combination

Great for use as an off camera flash

A lot of photogs like to have features like TTL and high speed sync when they use ON CAMERA flash. This flash doesn't not have those features BUT makes a great OFF CAMERA flash. I use 3 of these when I do on location headshots. I set the main light at one half power; fill light half power (but farther away) and hair light at quarter power.

can't beat the price

You can't beat the price. I use this with 3 other Yongnuo's all w/ the remote trigger and it's extremely convenient and cost effective. Be patient with the flashes and always take an extra second or event third shot. 3-stars because power output can be inconsistent. i've done shoots which required 50 headshots and across the shots you'll eventually see the inconsistencies.

Awesome Flash!

I'm a pro full natural light photographer, and recently realized that there are a couple situations that I shoot in that could use a flash. I wanted to find a quality flash that was not expensive because I would use it only rarely. I settled on this one after a good bit of research and I am very happy with my choice! Outside of the fact that it only operates manually (which I prefer, actually, and discovered it's very easy to learn!) it is a great flash for someone that has no experience with them. I'd definitely recommend this - it gets the job done!

Great Light/F;ash for the money

I replaced a Nikon speedlight that got damaged with battery leakage... I was looking for an inexpensive replacement that would work for the time i needed better flash than the built in unit... This flash was highly recommended by others so I took a chance and was happy I did, much bigger than the unit i replaced but more light and better features at a lot less than the Nikon model.. Happy camper!!!

Great value

The YN560 IV is a great value for photographers who want the flexibility of an off-camera flash. While you can use this flash on camera or as an optical slave, I would recommend picking up the YN560-TX as well. This will remote triggering of the flash(es). I will be ordering one soon.

My 5th Yongnuo YN560-IV Speedlite

It doesn't have TTL or HSS but it has, just about, everything else. If you are shooting TTL on your main light you can put the Yongnuo YN560-IV Speedlites on S2 and they won't react to the initial TTL light. THey are inexpensive and built like little trucks. Plenty of power too. I use the very reasonably priced YN560-TX 2.4 gh trigger and have never had a misfire. I have Flashpoint 360s and a Rovelight 600 so if when the YN560-TX is off the camera so I can use TTL I just keep it in my pocket to quickly adjust however many 560-IVs that I'm using. I smile every time I set them up when I think of how much money they have saved me.
