For the price, you just can't beat this flash. While I'm not a pro by any means, I've used a Canon flash before. This (significantly cheaper) flash works just as good. There's one exception: lack of high speed sync (HSS).

Not being a camera buff, the instruction are a little complicated. However, it does take great flash photos, and I no longer have red-eye that I need to go back a fix. Its been great taking photos of our newborn grandchild because we can bounce the flash.

Nice flash, especially for the money. A person could buy an arm-load of these for what one name brand version costs. And it works great plus it has all the necessary features. Everything is controllable either manually or automatically. (Except for the included slide-out bounce card and wide-angle diffuser, of course.) And unlike a lot of costlier equivalents, this one has a battery level indicator! Every flash should have that. All in all, it is a great piece of kit to have in your bag. Even if you already have a great flash, this one is a nice inexpensive piece that won't leave you crying if it gets ruined in some rain, or sea-splash if you're lucky enough.

A great value. Nails the exposure time after time using P-TTL both on and off camera. Really wish it had High Speed Sync though so I had the ability to properly expose the subject while diminishing the background exposure in moderate to bright lighting. Hoping for this in the future.

This speedlight from Yongnuo, made especially for Pentax cameras, follows the trend of all Yongnuo's products with sturdy build quality and pro-level features at a great pricepoint. With the YN 585 EX unit, you'll get full P-TTL support, plus zoom coverage for lenses from 20mm to 105mm. It even has a wide-diffuse panel to work with lenses as wide as 14mm.
The bounce head can be tilted from -7 degrees to +90, and the entire unit swivels 180 degrees on top of its mount. The control interface is all durable plastic push-buttons rather than soft rubber, and with no dials to worry about, you can operate by feel rather than having to take your eyes off the shot while making adjustments. A large LCD screen makes it easy to monitor settings and control groups, the spring-loaded door stays open for you to swap out batteries, and an indicator light lets you know when your unit is paired with external flashes or even another camera's shutter sync.
This speedlight operates via optical pulse up to 80 feet, and requires 4 AA batteries for a super-quick recharge speed of 3-5 seconds at full power.
