It works great. Zero issues with the equipment after about a month of use. I use the remote function and use the flash to fill in from the sides. And from the back for a halo effect. The only issue is the manual is lacking utility. You need to find tutorials or forums with "how to" examples because the manual isn't complete. For example, the manual states the flash and transmitter must be on the same channel, but does not explain how to change the channel on either device. I am relatively new to using a flash, so this may not be an issue for others with more flash experience.

I just received my YN685 and have taken a few sample shots with it and I am completely satisfied. It is everything that I hoped it would be. Glad I made the purchase through Adorama.

I like what Yongnuo is trying to do and I'll be optimistic. The 600EX-RT I had barely lasted two years of light use before it just stopped working and ended up in the trash. I'll give them a second chance with this model, but no more.

I recently purchased the Yongnuo YN685 speed light from Adorama. Was very happy when the it arrived ahead of schedule and packaged very well. It was exactly as described in their listing and I am very pleased with its performance. I highly recommend this speed light. I have made several purchases from Adorama and have always been pleased with their service and will continue to turn to them for all my photography needs.

I currently own three of this model and 1 of the previous Yongnuo models. I love the fact these work directly with Yongnuo transmitter I purchased for the previous model. I use these on camera for quick shooting as I am running around at parties and events that I shoot at. I also use them off camera with the Yongnuo transmitter and a mix of 40" and 60" umbrellas, reflectors, or a 24" softbox. I have used these and the previous Yongnuo version for somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 shots. No complaints whatsoever. Flash exposure is better than it ever was with either my Canon 580 or 420. Plus a heck of a lot less in price.

I attached it to my nikon the other day, and it worked with the camera right out of the box. So far, so good.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this supplemental lens. I have never heard of the brand and wondered how it would handle what I threw at it. I took it to some varying locations and tested it out in several situations. It gave me ideal lighting in almost every situation. My only complaint is how big/heavy it is. I wish I would have gone a bit smaller, but I'm still very happy with it.

Does what it promises to do. Seamless connectivity between the flash and controller. Works really well in both on- and off-camera settings. Very glad I bought this pair.

This is my first flash and the trigger flash combo is great. Took a bit to figure out the setting and the instructions aren't good but there is lots of help online. Takes great hss without any problems. Probably going to get another flash unit.

I shoot with a Nikon flash with my Nikon 610 camera I needed a backup flash for either additional flash power or a complete replacement if something goes wrong with my Nikon flash I now have 2 YN685 flashes and they perform very well Only disappointment is if I want to decrease the flash power the YN685it does not respond as well as the Nikon Flash For the money the YN685 is excellent

Very pleased with the flash. It is one third the price of a Nikon flash and just as powerful. Well designed and feels sturdy. I plan on getting more of them.

I researched speedlights in some detail before settling on this unit (actually, 2 plus a controller). I was very pleased with the documentation and availability of resources to use the unit. I was surprised and pleased by the amount of power and ability to control the power with the unit. I have more to learn and grow into, but believe this is an outstanding value.

I am a hobbyist. I purchased this kit and an additional YN685 to shoot an indoor wedding for a friend's child where the wedding (and formal shots at bride's request) took place in front of a large south facing window in the late morning.I wasn't sure that speedlights would provide enough power to light the scene evenly. I still have a lot to learn about handling the dynamic lighting situations that wedding pros take in stride as a normal day's work, but was very pleased by the results. These units get good reviews, especially for value at price point. they were fairly easy to set up and work with, though I was very, very glad that I practiced extensively with them before the trying them in a production environment. I look forward to learning more with them in the future.

Have not had it long enough to comment on longevity, but the build quality seems quite good considering the price vs Nikon. Radio link is a helpful addition and works well with the YN622N. Flash power is also good with a guide number of 60m. No complaints so far.

I bought two flashes and the controller and they work very well. I use them with my Nikon D750. They are well built but they do take a little time to setup to a controller for off-camera use.

As soon as this arrived, I went to put some batteries in it and the battery door broke. Not thrilled about that! Otherwise it would have five stars. It has done everything I have asked it to. I have worked it hard and put it through its paces. I just wish the battery door hadn't broken so soon and so easily.

This flash comes with a learning curve. The manual that comes with it is not very well written. Read it carefully! I control both flashes with a YN622C II radio slave. I mount one radio slave on the camera and do all my adjusting in the menu (External Speedlite Control) through my Canon 5D Mark II. If you have this in your menu then you should be able to do it too. I also control my three Canon 580EX through a YN622C II mounted on the bottom of each flash. I have to set the 580's manually but that it okay as I shoot them full power on the background outdoors. Hope this helps.

Just purchased 4 of these units and a YN622N-TX controller. I have 6 other Yongnuo units all manual that also work great. Just shot a reception dinner using 2 YN685 speedlites on stands for light in the room, was there three hours and flash continued firing all night. I placed each flash on a different group and once adjusted for my liking didn't have to make a change for the three hours. At times I use multiple lights, for rim, hair or gel the head for a color pop on a wall or area. Yonguno for me is the best value in the marketplace, I have been using this flash brand over 6 years now.

I had read reviews and watched Youtubes on this flash before I bought it. I am impressed with the build quality. It works flawlessly. I did buy the wireless flash controller with it but have not yet had a chance to put it through its paces. I would definitely recommend this flash.

This Yongnuo YN685 and YN-622 controller is the perfect match for my Canon cameras. I use three of these speed lights on a tri-holder for outdoor hi-speed sync lighting that will overcome the sun. Individually controlled from the camera menu via the wireless controller. Makes for a great studio setup too.

I just purchased one and the quality is bad. It can only flash once and lost connection. I need to call Adorama for returning.

An Excellent Flash - Great Value
By FRANK E.
I have two of these flashes and the 622 wireless flash controller. I have used them for close up and macro photography. The units work well and it is easy to balance each of the flashes from the controller. The TTL control is +/- 3 stops on each flash. ( 1/3 stop intervals). The units appear to be well built. The manual is adequate but some parts need careful reading for proper understanding. This flash is an excellent value.
Works better than my original Canon flashes for me
