I would recommend this, though for my Canon to Dynalight I did need a PC hot shoe insert. But for 23 bucks it's a winner!

I was worried that this would not work on an old off-brand flash I have, but it works like a charm! Cheap way to begin off camera flash, while you determine what your upgraded needs will be.

I use multiple transmitters/receivers to trigger a multi-channel telemetry system to acquire data in sync with photographic equipment. It works great for this. The products are all surface-mount technology, and have so far been reliable with very little interference from multiple electrical sources. Highly recommended.
