Another great design!
I don't think mobile phones will ever replace dedicated cameras, but it is great to have another tool at your disposal, especially one as quick and easy as a mobile phone. And this kit allows you to use your phone with total control and confidence. The quality of each piece in the kit is excellent. I thought the setup was very easy and fast and intuitive. Not much more to say except... Thank You, Zacuto!

Useful, but needs work.
Overall, I quite like the rig. It looks interesting and definitely prompts questions from clients. It's well balanced and easy to hold steady. But... Putting the Cinematographer's Rig (CR) together out of the box was not easy - the written instructions and the online video are woefully insufficient when it comes to the finer details. Close-up photography would have helped when referring to smaller parts, screw locations and adjustments. The biggest problem is with the diopter. Rather than having a continuously variable rotation setup (like binoculars), the CR comes with discrete lenses that are a real pain to install. You have to guess what magnification is right for you, install it to see if you were right... and uninstall and try again if you were wrong. Also, the diopter magnification only comes in steps of 0.5. My eyesight is in between, and so getting laser sharp focus is not achievable .. close, but not quite. The final issue I have is the shoulder pad. The pivot is so tight I thought I was going to break it the first time I tried to move it. There is no way to loosen it, readjust it, and then tighten - its always super tight. I really like the wooden handle. Suggestion: a bluetooth trigger to start and stop recording, would be a really useful addition. The grip mechanism for the phone seems really sturdy and secure - which is a good thing since the phone costs twice what the CR cost. One less thing to worry about. Would I recommend it to a colleague? Yes, but I would warn them that putting it together requires some patience. However, once assembled, it is a useful addition to your video kit.

The clarity and focus I get with the Smart Z-Finder is unparalleled. The Smart Z-Finder is a true revelation in mobile videography. I can't imagine filming without it anymore. Highly recommend it.

Honestly, my phone's camera just went from zero to hero with this thing.
Took it on a hiking trip and it truly enhanced my photography experience. Captured some of my best shots! I've tried numerous mobile photography gadgets. The Smart Z-Finder stands out in quality and functionality. I just wish it was more compact (ie: can fold it up or something), besides that I don't have many complaints.

Seriously, why didnt I buy SOONER?
Wasn't sure how I felt about it when I first got it?.but now, I can't imagine shooting without this bad boy. I've been into smartphone videography for years and wish I'd discovered the Z-Finder sooner. Love how its so compatible with other phones as well since my sister borrows it all the time and loves it as well. Five stars!

Worth the investment!
A bit pricey, but the investment in the Smart Z-Finder is worth every penny for the quality. Gifted it to my husband, a smartphone filming enthusiast. He hasn't stopped raving about it. Definitely a great gift idea for any loved ones who love photography/videography!

I was worried about the learning curve, but it's intuitive and easy to use. The learning curve was minimal and the quality of the shots really are on another level. I can easily tell the difference between the shots with and without a viewfinder.

The phone accessory I didn't know I needed!
Thought it was a gimmick, but the difference is night and day. Every content creator should consider this an investment since it will totally change the way you film and create content. I've gotten other items from Zacuto as well and overall the quality and functionality is amazing :)

Light weight, Excellent visibility
This product offers full-featured movie shooting on a smartphone. It would have been better if it had the diopter adjustment of the prototype! I would like to find a way to make it work with the BMPCC4K.

Most valuable tool in my tool box.
When I started shooting video many, many moons ago I carried almost 60 pounds of gear around on my shoulders. Well now, enter the Smart Z Finder. Last weekend I shot pictures and video at the Dayton Airshiw. All, naturally outdoors. What great shots I got using this great invention. This one tool has become a major game changer! Smart Z-finder
Got a chance to see and play with this at NAB 2023 in las vegas. With the combination of the Acsoon Seemo and the Smart Z-finder....basically make my iphone as a EVF monitor, which the camera i use, the FX30, does not have an EVF monitor. I definitely want to get my hands on one and do a more in depth review on it.

Solid and super fun product
Had a chance to review and shoot with a preproduction unit. This thing is so much fun to use for capturing BTS content and its hard to put down. From a content reaction standpoint you can set this up in multiple configurations to meet your needs and everything is very well thought out with lots of mounting options for small lights, mic, action cam ect. If you want to keep it light you can build it down and when folded up the setup is really compact. Having a spot to firmly grip your hands and an additional point of contact gets all the shake out of you footage. Viewfinder makes viewing in bright sunlight a snap as well!

Just got my Smart Z Finder. I was fortunate to get into the beginning of the crowd funding and I saved big time. They totally kept me updated from the start. I just got mine and I took it to our Kentucky derby events and it's AMAZING! Never again do I worry about shooting in the bright sunlight. I could clearly see focus and the required tools on the screen with no trouble. I love how easily it mounts and esprcially the SNAP when the magnet pops onto the mount.
