Great Audio Recorder for any audio expected to be altered in post

This is a high quality 24 bit audio recorder with a lot of controls. Used this to record a live mix of an Opera and it's audio was great even after I messed around with the audio in post.

Capable sound recorder, awful battery life, slow startup

At the price the H4n Pro is capable of high quality recording. The battery life is short even if using high capacity eneloop batteries, it's even shorter if using phantom power. The preamps have about 42db of gain, which is enough if using high output condenser mics. Startup time is very slow and recorder is picky about SD cards used. Build quality is very good, it does not feel cheap, except the battery door; it feels flimsy.

I am very happy with my Zoom H4n Pro

This has been an excellent product with great audio recording control and quality. I now use it as audio input for my computer when recording training audio, and for Podcast recording.

Captures crispy, clean audio

The sound the H4n pro is able to capture is just magnificent. It's crispy, clean, and captures the deep rumble in a voice. The ONLY downside to this recorder is that it takes roughly 30 seconds to power up. Other than that, the built feels and looks professional, the buttons have a nice recoil, and the menus are easy to navigate.

Sound Quality is Epic!

I've been using 4 different recording devices: My Sony A7II, an audiotechnica external microphone, a Movo lavalier mic and a Panasonic Lumix. The sound quality of the H4n is amazing. It's like having equalizer and reverb automatically! No echo shows up in the audio file even though the room is really big and open with a bad echo.

Great recorder at a great price.

I use the recorder to record a from a fed off of a mixer. I then use the audio for creating content in videos. The quality of the audio i get from this recorder has made a world of difference in the videos I create.

Impressive and full of wonderful features Zoom H4N Pro is the One

I spent a lot of time researching and once I learn about the new Zoom H4N Pro, was hands down the best one for my needs and excellent price point compared to the other ones. I am still experimenting with it and can say it is worth checking out if you have the older version or just want to check out Zoom products.

I've only just begun to use this. Real easy to operate, I caught on fast, that alone says a lot!

I've only just begun to use this. Real easy to operate, I caught on fast, that alone says a lot! My use is for ambient background sound in remote locations. It has work perfectly for that so far. I did get a noise reducing furry cover, in a breeze I still get excellent sound.

Easy set up Much Improved Pro Level Pre Amps

this little unit offers a terrific upgrade to the original. The pre amps are clean offering pro level audio quality. If there was one thing I would like to see improved on this unit is the quality of the headphone amp, turning it up gives you a false sense of noise that the mic pre amps are not producing.

Three Recording Modes

Stereo Mode
Stereo Mode can be used with the built-in X/Y microphones or external mics and is convenient for recording live performances, acoustic instruments and more.

4-Channel Mode
4-Channel Mode records with the built-in X/Y mics and two external inputs to capture live room sound and a stereo board feed at the same time.

MTR Mode
Multi-Track Mode turns your device into a four-track studio, with built-in effects, overdub functions and the ability to work with previously recorded sound files.

Music Production Software
Record, edit, mix and master your music with free download licenses for Steinberg's Cubase LE music production software and WaveLab LE audio editing software.

Choose from a variety of effects, including EQ, compression, reverb, delay, amp and cab emulators and more. Practice with an onboard metronome, tuner and looper.

Recording Time and File Formats
The H4n Pro can capture audio in both MP3 and WAV file formats. WAV files recorded with the H4n Pro comply with BWF (Broadcast Wave Format) and include marks and creation dates. It allows for easy syncing and file organization for both musicians and filmmakers.
