Questions & Answers

ARTHUR C : The photo doesn't look like the ZF.2, looks more like the ZF. Are you sure this photo is accurate?ALEX D : I ordered the ZF.2 and got that (CPU for Nikon cameras works to adjust aperture) so you can trust the description. Even though the lens was on backorder I got it within a week including shipping in NYC. I like the lens as a whole and is very sharp even out to the corners. The downside is that this lens is a beast. It is heavy and it doesn't do well with some filters. Specifically the Cokin P type should work wih this lens according to Cokin but I see vignetting from the filter holder ring. If you are a backpacker I would conider a lighter fixed prime lens but if weight is not an issue it is a great lens. Btw I am using it on the D800E in case you are interested.CHRISTOPHER E : You are right. The picture is of the discontinued ZF model.DAVID C : Where is the photo?ARTHUR C : The biggest tell is the metal aperture tab that's coming out. That doesn't exist on the ZF.2RUSSELL C : you cant see the zf2 label in this photo, it is on the inner rim next to the lens surface. Seeing that label would confirm it is a zf2, or not.MARCO C : The shopper is right: the image is not of the latest zf.2 lens
Shopper : will this fit my nikon d200?BRUCE W : yes, you will love this lens!!!JARUPORN P : Normally, I bought this to fit my Nikon D700, and It work perfectly. As I understand, ZF.2 is same as AF Lens but just lack of Autofocus and Distant Information(same as Non D version lens).MARCO C : I think the zeiss 21mm is wasted for the d200 since it's not a full frame camera + has low resolution. The zeiss maintains its value so if you plan to upgrade to a FF camera then make sense to buy the zeissSTEFAN R : It will fit and work with the exposure meter system but I am not 100% sure whether the D200 is a FX size sensor camera and you get the focal length of 21mm.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?DANILO B : built is superb, sharp from 2.8 all the way to f22. exotic look and Zeiss quality exudes from the moment I touch it. It's addicting to use and own.

Zeiss has exceeded all of my expectations!

This lens has the ability to produce incredibly sharp images with great clarity. It captures extremely accurate color in the scene pretty much eliminating the need for color correction in the digital dark room.

Long time investment

Very sharp + nice micro contrast = lot of details. The IQ is consistently very high on the entire picture. Since the lens is very well built, it is a long time investment. I immediately replaced the front lens cap for a Tamron, which holds itself much stronger.

Amazing lens

Shooting landscapes is wonderful with this lens. Everything is sharp to the pixel level (with Pentax K20D body), and the colors are amazingly bright. Even the widest aperture can be used with excellent results. The lens delivers unbelievable performance.

The ZEISS ZF.2 with F bayonet for digital SLRs. Thanks to its electronic interface (CPU), these new ZEISS lenses support all-important operations such as the automatic exposure for shutter priority, aperture priority and program modes. The CPU also supports manual exposure settings, including those for camera casings that are not AI-compatible. Since the lens now transmits the ExIF data such as manufacturer, date, metering system and exposure settings, photographers no longer need to set the parameters manually. These quicker and faster handling capabilities of the ZF.2 lenses are especially useful under hectic shooting conditions.

ZEISS lenses truly come into their own in situations that demand extreme photographic creativity and maximum image quality. Carl Zeiss' fixed focal length lenses are known for their high light sensitivity and precise manual handling, leaving the photographer in full control. The new ZF.2 series will be especially interesting for photo enthusiasts who value creative, high-quality images combined with the comfort of automatic settings.
