I used this as microphone while shooting interviews and despite the surrounding noise, the device focuses in the interviewed person's voice. I also used this to record a voice off to include it into a corporate video. We recorded this inside of a car in an interior parking lot which helped us to cancel excessive outside noise and worked just as perfect as being inside of a sound recording studio. The sound this device records is crisp and clear as expected.

I purchased this recorder to use to record comments in music festivals in which I judge. I chose this model because I like to record my verbal comments on a separate channel from the recording of the ensemble. The Zoom H4nSP allows total control of two track/channel stereo recording with separate inputs for 1/4 inch or XLR cables with phantom power and another 1/8 inch input if you need it. I don't use the built-in X/Y microphones but they do an admirable job as well. The menus are easy to navigate and give you a lot of flexibility in choosing a whole host of recording options. There is a built-in speaker and and the unit works on batteries or AC power. The controls are located in convenient locations. I mount the unit on a small tripod so that I can easily switch out SD cards and view the easy-to-read display. I use it in MP3 mode almost exclusively but it also records in WAV format. This is a versatile and easy-to-use compact recorder that I highly recommend to anyone who would like the portability and ease of use this unit provides.
