Great binocs for field expeditions
I'm a scientist who needs to pack efficiently for field expeditions in the Arctic. My gear needs to have top performance and durability, while not overencumbering my day pack. These binoculars meet my exacting requirements. The field of view is broad, the focus is smooth and not over-sensitive, the clarity across the image is outstanding, they're not too bulky or heavy, and they work great in low light. They're a big improvement over the big name Japanese brand I've been using.

The Zeiss Conquest HD 8x32 Binocular is a lightweight model that is ideal for stalking game during the day. Its compact size makes it a convenient companion in difficult terrain. The 8x magnification provides a good overview and shake-free images. The near setting of just 1.5 meters allows you to experience crisp images and clear colors up close. The CONQUEST HD 8x32 satisfies all ergonomic requirements: the focusing wheel is so conveniently placed that it can always be quickly and easily used.
This model of the Conquest HD is configured with 8x magnification, suitable for intermediate range glassing in the field, at the range, or on the trail. The nitrogen purged aluminum housing, 64 degree viewing angle, 5-foot minimum focus distance and non-slip rubber focus wheel make the Conquest HD a full-featured optic ready for almost any outdoor glassing activity.
Zeiss 8x32 Roof Prism Features
- HD Lens System: The High Definition (HD) lens concept from Zeiss includes extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements that evenly transmit the visible spectrum and increase light transmission
- Schmidt-Pechan Roof Prism Design: The Schmidt-Pechan prism configuration enables a relatively compact body size compared to other roof prism designs. A phase-corrective coating on the prisms enhances light transmission and helps to correct the alignment of visible wavelengths
- T Multicoated Optics: Multi-layer T coatings are used on all Zeiss premium sport optics. The coating is chemically engineered to minimize reflections by lens elements and faithfully transmit the entire visible spectrum while preserving sharpness at the edge of the viewing field
- LotuTec Protective Coating: Objective and ocular lenses are coated with a LotuTec moisture/abrasion-resistant coating. This layer causes moisture, including snow and rain, to bead up and roll off the lens surface
- Build Quality: Rubber polymer armored aluminum housing, waterproof construction (submersible to 400 mbar) and broad operating temperature range (-4 to 145deg.F) equip the Conquest HD series for a wide range of outdoor applications
