ZWO AM5N Harmonic GoTo Altazimuth/Equatorial Mount

Traditional equatorial mounts often require heavy counterweights, making them cumbersome and difficult to balance in RA and DEC directions, also inconvenient for transit, storage and assembling; While some newer harmonic mount may lack multifunctionality, have insufficient load capacity, and suffer from stability issues and cable tangling.

To address these issues, the new AM5 Harmonic Mount (2024 edition) eliminates the need for counterweights, offers high load capacity (15kg without counterweights, 20kg with a 5kg counterweight), and balances portability with stability. The ZWO's customized strain wave geared reducer ensures precision with an accuracy within +/- 10". It can be used as both an equatorial and alt-azimuth mount, with an altitude adjustment range of 0-90 degrees.

Impact Structure
The internal structure is optimized with a strain wave geared reducer and synchronous belt, achieving precise control with a 300:1 reduction ratio.

Astronomy-Dedicated Strain Wave Gear
Developed in collaboration with well-known strain wave gear manufacturers, this motor is tailored for astrophotography, offering ultra-low periodic error, stable transmission, and high torque output. Each mount is tested to ensure a periodic error within +/-10 arcseconds, guaranteeing its performance.

5.5kg Mount Weight
While prioritizing lightweight design, the stabili-ty during use is not compromised. The mount is optimized for overall stability.

15-20kg Load Capacity
Capacity without the counterweight attached is 15kg 20kg on the contrary.

Results from simulated calculation:
• Maximum load without the counterweight: 15KG (maximum output torque: 30N.m)
• Supported counterweight: < 5kg
• Maximum load capacity with the counterweight: 20kg
• The counterweight should be secured on a counterweight bar of no more than 25cm in length

Equatorial Mode & Alt-azimuth Mode

All-Round 0-90 Degree Latitude Scale
• Gear 1: Adjust the latitude adjustment knob to achieve a scale between 0 and 60
• Gear 2: Loosen the hex-head screw and then adjust the latitude adjustment knob to achieve a scale between 30 and 90
• 0-60 Degree: Adjust the latitude adjustment knob to achieve a scale between 0 and 60
• 30-90 Degree: Loosen the hex-head screw and then adjust the latitude adjustment knob to achieve a scale between 30 and 90

Power-Off Protection
The AM5's power-off brake structure protects the mount in case of sudden power loss, preventing telescope or other equipment from falling.

• Low Temperature Tolerance: Can be used at extremely low temperatures down to -20 Degree C
• Heavy Load Mode: To combat the impact of cold environments on the mount, enabling this mode in the app can significantly enhance the device's load capacity. If you experience load capacity issues with the AM5 in harsh, cold environments, it is recommended to activate this mode
