About Hoya 77 FL-W

Florescent lighting has characteristics that affect color rendition. This color shift is not usually visual to the human eye but will cause adverse effects on film.

When shooting under "daylight" florescents your pictures will have a purplish tone. Hoya's FL-D filter corrects and restores a normal color balance.

In industrial situations you might encounter "warm white" florescents which will give a greenish tone, requiring Hoya's FL-W corrective filter.

Both filters are available in coated and multi coated (stronger flare prevention) versions and all popular sizes.

The Hoya 77 FL-W is commonly used for Color correction, Image manipulation and more. The Hoya 77 FL-W is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Photo enthusiast, Semi-pro photographer among others. The Hoya 77 FL-W is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Hoya 77 FL-W: Clear optics, Easy to use, Firm mount and Strong construction

a lot more useful than you thought

great for sunrise and sunset, i did shoot some cityscape, landscape with this filter using my 70-200 @ 200mm, the colors are terrific (orange is more red then blue is more violet.)im doing the similar thing in post process but using the filter is still a lot better and more pleasing and natural. I copied the technique from bryan peterson should I say but why should I re invent the wheel?. Filters are still indispensable. try for your self and see the result. too bad this filter is nowhere to ...

Not so much.

May never use it since I am unlikely to do night shots of city lights.

fantastic filter

By

I have been wanting this filter ever since I saw the Bryan Peterson video on this.My son got it for me for christmas.I went out the following weekend and did some sunrise shots it performed as expected. It gave a dull sunrise a whole new composition. One thing I like about it is the name Hoya is a well respected brand and that is all I use. This filter is fantastic for sunrise and sunsets I will also expierment with it for other applications. So far so good nothing bad to say a quality product.I would by this again with out hesitation.

Excellent for Sunrise/Sunset

Use this to adjust color in sunrise/sunset. A little before the sun comes up and after the sun goes down.

Extra Punch for sunset/sunrise photos

By

from Georgia  -  Semi-pro Photographer

Adds extra splash of color for sunset photos, would not recommend for all shots but if the light is right adds a nice touch of class to photos. Using the FLW you do not need to compensate for the filter as the filter will darken the scene just enough for the right scene brightness. Remember for great sunset photos try under exposing the scene to bring out the colors.

Got this after watching Bryan Peterson's segment, it is amazing. Brings the golden hour scene into a new level of color range. Highly recommend this accessory.

Gives good sky

By

from Shelton, CT  -  Photo Enthusiast

Nice quality lens, great packaging. Gives some really nice effects at dusk and dawn. I am sure there are many more uses, but I have only used it for landscape so far. Better results than post-processing for sure. I visit Florida often and I had taken a pre-sunrise picture a few years ago where the colors were awesome. Unfortunately I did not have it on a tripod and it was too grainy to blow up. I woke up early many mornings looking for that shot again with no luck. This lens made it happen for me!

A bargain

By

from Paoli, PA  -  Photo Enthusiast

I'm always reluctant to purchase used and have had varying experiences. This filter was used and rate E+. In fact it is like new and cost half of what a new one cost. It has exceeded my expectations. I'd recommend it for those who like B & W landscape photography.
