Excellent value for money

Excellent value for money - over $1,000 less than the Nikkor I was considering. I am a photo enthusiast and use it for close-up shots and macro shots. I am extremely happy with it.

Great Lens

This is a great lens for the price.

the one that i got is not very sharp

I have a Nikon 35mm 1.8G that is very sharp and fast focus for portrait photo. I am anticipating similar sharpness from this lens. but I was very disappointed. the copy of the lens I got is not very sharp thru out all aperture range. when I do a blow up comparison, it seems to have a lot of noise but my ISO is set to 100. or maybe I did not used it the way it was intended. I am going to do more testing.

No AF with D3300

Received my lens today and first thing I noticed was the weight. Not a complaint, just an observation since it requires so much glass. Second thing I noticed was that it does not auto focus with my D3300 :( However, I will most likely keep it because of the price and manual focus is better for macro shooting anyway. Bokeh is very nice at f2.8 Would be nice if they could write up a compatability list. So far so good!

Great Macro Lens!

Great macro lens! Works flawlessly on my Nikon digital and film cameras!

Buy this lens!

This lens is sharp as a tack and takes wonderful macro and full length shots. You can beat what you get from this lens at this cost.

Nikkor 105 f2.8 Vr vs Tokina 100 macro

I originally owned a Nikkor 105mm f2.8 Vr which I found to be very front heavy for Macro use on a tripod. Maybe if it had a lens tripod mount but it doesn't. The Nikkor is a very good lens but is around $900 Canadian. I had the chance to buy a relatively new Tokina 100mm f2.8 Macro and just loved it's size, weight and it produces images on par with the Nikkor. No Vr but I don't use Vr for Macro. It was 1/3 the price of the Nikkor. Don't get me wrong the Nikkor is one well built beautiful lens but the Tokina is a real gem of a lens for the price. I also like the push/pull auto/manual focus clutch. Unlike the Nikkor the Tokina has a three way focus limiting dial that can limit your focus range in Macro range or outside the macro range or full unlimited focusing. A real plus when you want to just stay in one range to speed up focusing. Everything on the Tokina just works for me. The Tokina Macro has a solid well made construction with enough weight to feel solid. The finish looks like a classic Nikon professional lens but then Tokina was founded by Nikon engineers. I have used a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 which I have owned for 2 years now and it is flawless however all my other lenses are Nikkor. Needless to say I sent the Nikkor 105mm f2.8 back and I am enjoying my Tokina Macro with no regrets. Sometimes more money doesn't buy more. I highly recommend the Tokina for serious Macro work. The fact it has an aperture ring will be an advantage with bellows and some extension tubes also.

Great Advice from Adorama

I called Adorama asking for some advice on Macro lenses fully expecting them to steer me towards a more expensive lens. They suggested the Tokina 100mm Macro as I am going to be using it for wildlife - small wildlife" - and I was interested in rounding out my lens "kit". I've had it a week now and I am delighted with the clarity and ease of use. I won't repeat what I've read on many of the reviews but, so far very pleased with quality over-all. My big surprise was my grandchildren were visiting and I snapped a few portraits only because it was not convenient to change the lens. The portraits came out great! So, I'm a fan. Attached pictures tell it all.

Great Macro Lens

I am an amature photographer and this lens is all I could want in a macro. I almost went with the Canon L that was twice the price but I am glad I didnt. This is just as good if not better. I have nothing to complain about it.

5 Stars

I researched several macro lens for some time before purchasing the Tokina. This is the first non-Nikon lens I have bought. I have to say, what a fantastic lens, at around half the price of the competition.Super sharp and great at focusing up closely. I loved this lens and recomend for all.

Amazing Macro Lens

I do photography as a hobby and particularly like nature and macro shots. After doing a lot of research, I purchased this lens to use for my macro photos. I have a Nikon D5300, which doesn't have a built in auto-focus motor, so I knew I would have to use manual focus on this lens. I was a little worried about that but it hasn't been a problem at all. This is now my favorite lens. It takes incredible shots and it's not too bulky.
