I bought this lens to have a prime (other than the AF-S 40mm macro, which is f2.8) to use for low light work and portraits. It's not as sharp as the old Nikon glass was at this same focal length, but so far it has performed just fine.

If you're using an APS-C (DX) Nikon camera body, look no further. This lens will do 90+% of all the shots you'll ever take. It's small, light, and cheap brand new. Just get it.

Outstanding lens. Auto-focus works well while I am getting used to the manual focus on the lens. For the price, you can't beat it. The f/1.8 setting also came in handy with my astrophotography photos.

Just received my Nikon 35mm f/1.8G AF-S DX NIKKOR Lens for my D3500 and are very satisfied with the lens. The Auto-focus helps out while I get used to the manual focus. Auto-focus is sharp. It's a great lens for the price. Still have to test the F/1.8 on low light photos, but looking forward to it.

This is an excellent lens. Focus snaps lightning fast silently. Great for low light, hand-held photos of indoor Christmas decorations. Light & compact. Round out my lens system for my Nikon D500.

I rediscovered the joy of photograhpy after using this great lense. My AF-S Nikkor 18-300mm super-zoom is my workhorse lense because it can do it all, but this lightweight 35mm Nikkor lense is the one I pop on to concentrate on composition and depth of field shots, especially close-ups of flowers, people, and nature. Put on this lense and put a smile back on your face.

This is what is called a normal lens, super fast and dirt cheap and very light with wonderful bokeh. Coupled with a D7500 in which you actually look through the lens and not at a video screen, it?s a delight to use, brings you back to the basics of photography. So what if it's plastic ; it's light and works perfectly. For added pleasure ditch auto focus and focus manually like the original slr?s. Highly recommended.

After using zoom lenses for years, I made the purchase of this prime lens after seeing amazing photos online. While not yet experienced with this lens, my first few captures were fantastic. Especially at the price point, you simply can't go wrong. It will definitely be heavily used.

This lens is SHARP! Right out of the box I noticed the sharp quality in my photos, not to mention the bokeh. Wish I would have purchased the lens earlier, but it never too late. Shooting the stars ... it pulls the stars right in, and multiple shots is not required. It definitely a keeper!

What an incredible prime lens! You can't go wrong with it! Beautiful blurred background, sharp images, and a solid metal mounting plate. Honest -- I already have the two "kit" lenses that came with my D3500 (the small 18-55mm zoom, and the larger 70-300mm zoom), but this 35mm f/1.8G lens practically LIVES on my D3500!
