I bought a Nikkor 50mm f1.4 AF lens and got a free cleaning kit for this price. Not a bad deal.

Only 4 stars because it's not the 50mm f1.2 lense, I wish Nikon would re-issue that lense in an AF ED IF version. But this lense is excellent, wide sharp focusing range, great depth of field control, and it's light weight and extremely affordable..

The SKU number doesn't match the item. I should have checked it when i picked up the item. The quality of product is not V as ordered. Need to go to store to figure out what can be none.

Solid lens, great colors, clarity and performance. Look at online image galleries and you'll find this lens has incredible output, on all kinds of Nikon bodies. People are now sporting this lens on Z7 bodies and getting insanely good results. That pretty much says it all.

Great lens; I?ve been needing a faster lens for some low light instances; this one is terrific. I definitely needed this.

Well made lens but dated as the AF could improve for faster and more accurate focus.

Even if you must save for it purchasing fast glass will never let you down. We all run across a scene where we need more light to capture that moment in time and if you invested in fast glass, you have a better chance of capturing that moment.

Incredible value. Sharp. Bokeh. Fast focus. I know there are purists who think a the1.8 is superior, less flare or whatever, but I do not see any image distortion or anomalous in any light setting and use this on my D7500 with the APS-C sensor and get an effective 75mm lens with a 1.4 aperture. It’s the perfect alternative to a FX 85mm portrait lens IMHO and that what I use this for. Add in the 35mm and those are all you need on a DX Nikon to shoot all day long. Very happy with this set up and the 50mm in particular.

Used this lens on a D810 and other Nikons. Frankly did not think it was worth the cost. When I wanted to use wide open, it was (for me) only sort of satisfactory compared to other ‘fast 1.4’ lenses I’ve used. I sold it and purchased the Nikon 50mm f1.8, with which I was very satisfied.

This was the first lens I bought when I got my D810. It serves a purpose as one lens to take for the morning (or day). As I've read in many reviews it is improved by stopping down a stop or two to f2.2 or f2.5. I really do like this lens a lot - great color rendition of landscapes. I chose this lens over the Sigma 50mm f1.4 as it is much lighter in both weight and cost! I highly recommend it.

Great compact lens that packs a lot of punch. Pictures are sharp and the lens is fast. It will probably be on my camera 95% of the time!

Not a bad lens. But, I sold mine and bought the f1.8 version. Just think it is a better lens, better IQ, and only a tad slower.

While sharpness is an essential part of most photographs, the creative use of backround blur can be a very useful compositional element.

Focus on this lens with a D700 (FX) is fast and seems dead-on accurate. Very usable at 1.4, great at 2.0, amazing by 2.8. The lens isolates the subject from background extremely well and the bokeh is smooth and creamy. Great for portraits, carry around, general use. Colors are great. I wish it were a little smaller-lighter but this is still a lot smaller than a zoom. This is especially useful as a "grab it and maybe crop it" lens when the kids are running around the house in the typical day a...

Sweet In Low Light

I cover all of the sports for our local school district. When shooting in the gyms, they are typically poorly lit & it is difficult to stop action & still have a sharp image. I wasn't getting the results I wanted with the 2.8 lenses I have, so when Nikon came out with this new version, I had to have it. [...] Please see the attached image for an example.
Where precision meets performance, the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S NIKKOR Lens in Black is a must-have for photographers seeking ultra-fast, razor-sharp image quality. This lens is renowned for its exceptional edge-to-edge sharpness and high contrast, making it ideal for portrait photography, general use, and video recording. With a close focusing distance of just 1.5 feet, it captures stunningly detailed images even in challenging low-light conditions.
The lens's maximum aperture of f/1.4, combined with Nikon's unique rounded 9-blade diaphragm, delivers an exquisite and smooth background blur (bokeh). This feature is particularly advantageous for portrait photography, allowing subjects to stand out dramatically against a softly blurred background.
Offering a versatile angle of view, the AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G serves as a classic "normal" lens on FX-format DSLRs and 35mm film cameras. On DX-format cameras, it transforms into an ideal portrait lens, providing a moderate telephoto perspective equivalent to a 75mm lens on an FX-format DSLR or 35mm film camera. This versatility is further enhanced by its ability to focus as close as 1.5 feet, expanding creative possibilities.
The lens ensures a comfortable working distance, promoting a natural interaction between the photographer and the subject. When mounted on an FX DSLR, the 50mm focal length closely mimics the human eye's perspective, with the f/1.4 aperture enhancing background blur for a natural subject appearance. On a DX DSLR, it functions as a 75mm portrait lens, allowing the subject to fill more of the frame.
Technologically advanced, the lens features Nikon's Silent Wave Motor, which significantly enhances autofocus performance. The M/A mode enables seamless switching between automatic and manual focusing by simply turning the focusing ring, ensuring precision control without delay. Additionally, Nikon's Super Integrated Coating on the optical elements minimizes reflections and enhances color accuracy, ensuring superior image quality.
This bundle includes Hoya 58mm UV and CPL filters, providing added protection and creative flexibility for your photography endeavors. Whether capturing stunning portraits or everyday moments, the Nikon 50mm f/1.4G AF-S NIKKOR Lens is your gateway to exceptional image quality and artistic expression.
