It's been an incredibly sturdy and effective tripod, especially considering the low entry price.

It does exactly what it’s meant to do and looks good doing it. Not too heavy or too big but solid enough for my uses. My only gripe is it would be nice if there was padding or a wrap for the monopod where you would grip it as hands do get a bit chilly in Colorado.

A relatively light tripod, less 4lbs, that can be deployed semi-fast and can support a 7D + battery grip + 24-70mm lens. It was stable enough for Icelandic winds. No stars deducted for twist lock, more a personal preference- much prefer the flip lock. The lack of foam/rubber cushion on the legs made deploying in cold weather uncomfortable. Rotating the ball head 90 degree with above camera setup would cause the camera to slowly tilting downward, and the level indicator should be moved to more readable location.

First the caveat - I'm a serious hobbyist, but rarely needed a tripod, so this is my first other than an old camcorder tripod I used in a pinch. That said, I'm very impressed with the Punks Travis. I plan to use this as a general-purpose tripod, but it does pack down small enough to fit in my day pack if I want to take it hiking. It's sturdy enough that I can lean on it very heavily, though I'm not quite willing to swing from it like I've heard of people doing on Really Right Stuff tripods. It's overall build is very solid, with the twist-locks and leg hinges feeling nicely damped. When it's folded, I can lift it by one leg without it opening. It is a little heavier than it looks, but that helps the feeling of sturdiness - and it's only 3.6 lbs. In terms of vibrations, at its full height including the center column, tapping right on the mounted 5D3 and 24-70 f/4, vibrations last for about 3 seconds. With the center column down, it's maybe 1.5-2 seconds. I'm pleased with that performance, especially since the viewfinder is at eye level for me without the center column (I'm 5'6"). The included ballhead is also very nice. It's quite smooth, even as I tighten down, and easy to frame with. There might be a tiny amount of stick-slip as it gets very tight, but only at the edge of perception. I can detect a very slight sag (at 70mm) when I release the camera after tightening, but that seems to be the camera body shifting, not the ball. Maybe I don't have the quick-release plate on tight enough? It doesn't matter to me, because it's so slight as to be a non-issue. I'm very pleased with this purchase. I'm sure it will work well for ultrawides (which is why I bought it), but it should work equally well if I get a 70-200 f/4. It probably could hold a 100-400, but that's just a guess. Highly recommended!

I've owned two sub-$ tripods in years past. The first one met my needs as a beginner but the second one always felt cheap and lacking quality. I knew I needed a "real" tripod. I immediately fell in love with 3 Legged Thing's tripods after seeing them on reviews/social media. The style really stands out and the functionality is said to be great. I haven't used other semi-pro tripods so I can't compare to their direct competitors. So, on to the Punks Travis. At under $200, it's attractively priced compared to other well-reviewed tripods. I immediately felt the quality and sturdiness of this tripod. It folds down nicely and fit in my carry-on bag just fine. If compact size is super important to you, look at the Punks Corey. I chose the Travis as it's the taller option. I didn't expect it to be nearly as tall as me fully extended though! The ball head and multiple leg-angles are nice. It's easy to adjust configurations. My biggest complaint with it is how the camera plate attaches to ball head; it screws in with a knob, which doesn't feel like the most secure method. I've gotten used to it though. There are a couple YouTube videos which do a good job going through the features so check those out if you're interested in this tripod. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and would recommend this to any hobbyist, semi-pro or anyone looking at tripods in this price range.
