Q&A

Questions & Answers

Shopper : would this work if using a Sigma 600 mm lens?PATRICK M : I am not sure if you are asking if the pod is strong enough to hold the camera and 600mm lens.....it is.....or are you asking if it will support the camera and lens hands free? This is a well built monopod with feet that assist with stability. It is NOT a substitute for a tripod and I would not use it handsfree except in a very limited set of conditions(and then holding my breath) and never with a long telephoto lens. I really like this pod and its construction but again, it is not a substitute for a tripod.Michael P : It should. look at the weight of the 600mm and look at the carry limit of the monopod. I think it'll be plenty capableMichael P : It should. look at weight of 600mm and what this monopod can hold. but it should be fine.ROBERT P : It should be fine. I used it with the Nikon 200-500 lens, which might be a touch lighter, but it worked fine. One of the clamps started slipping recently and it was easy to tighten with an allen wrench.
JONATHAN S : What is the clip on the hand strap used for?ENOCH M : Hi Giovanni, when the loop of the hand strap is pulled up above the top of the monopod, the clip can be attached to a belt. Depending on the type of head you attach, the overall weight can be cumbersome to carry around too long and the monopod tends to slap against you. If you carry a camera backpack, you may have a loop or strap that this clip could attach to. I'm either carrying my monopod by the strap when out shooting or have it in the tripod pouch and strapped on the back of my backpack to avoid the dangle and slapping when walking or hiking. EMANN A : Mine doesn’t have a clip. May be an older modelJ A M : I purchased this as a gift for someone so I don’t have it at hand. However, I imagine the clip would allow user to attach the monopod to a camera bag for transport.CATHRYN A : I can't say what the designer's thought was, but it's the shape to slip/clip onto a strap or belt which could come in handy. I'm thinking it would hold a camera strap out of the way, and keep it from flopping around.
Shopper : Would adding weight across feet act to improve stability on level ground?ROGER F : I personally would not try it as the diameter of the base would be questionable even with weight on it, so try at your own risk..Rich B : That's a very subjective question, if you really think about it. Sure, you could add weight ... and sure, it would have an effect on "stability". But what's your definition of "stable"? And more importantly, what's your goal? I use mine for what it's made for .... it's a monopod, NOT a tripod. It's lightweight, surprisingly sturdy, and very convenient for places where you just can't bust out a full blown tripod. It's meant to aid in stabilizing ... not to leave standing alone. Would I mount my full size D810 w/ Battery Grip + 70-200 f/2,8 lens + Flashgun on this monopod? Yes !! I have done this several times .... and never had a problem Would I walk away from it with all that gear mounted? NO !! Not even with weight ballasts/anchors on the monopod's feet would I walk away from it. But a monopod isnt made for stand alone ("walk away") stability .... right? So if you're standing there holding the monopod (or holding the camera which is mounted to the monopod) while you shoot , why would you need/want to add weight to the feet? If you're thinking of using it for a different application where you want to walk away from it, then I'd say you've got to use your own judgement. Adding weight would have an effect on stability, but depending on how long you extend the monopod, and what you have mounted to it, it still may not achieve what you're after.MARTHA T : I never was able to use it for the non stability I noticed . You need to keep holding it with one hand. I didn’t like it.CUAHUTEMOC R : yes it would but rember the higher you go up the more unstable it will getVictor B : Perhaps a very small amount?. But if you are going to carry extra weight to use with it, wouldn't it be easier then to just use a tripod, which would be heavier and also more stable than a monopod, with or w/o any extra weight.? In any case, this monopod will not stand up on it's own (if that's what you mean) as it pivots at the base.DUANE S : Yes it does, I have used 1 or 2 draft dodging snakes I found at Menards.

Bargain price with excellent quality

I'm very happy with the overall quality of this monopod. It's quite sturdy yet light enough to easily carry along with you. The look of the product is even better in person.

Basically sound, but with one or two irritating flaws.

Overall I really like the construction of this monopod. It has metal legs, metal locks and metal lock levers. If the locks loosen with use, they can be tightened with the included hex wrenches. The three legs fold out easily enough and lock into place for stability. The only thing I don't like about this monopod is that the legs fold down TOO easily; there is no locking mechanism to keep them folded up in case someone doesn't want the legs folded down. So, the legs won't stay up when unpacking up the monopod, moving it around, or packing it back up. Instead the legs tend to flop down and get in the way. This design flaw is complicated by the fact that the lowest lock and its locking lever further impede folding up the legs. A work-around might be a long hook-and-loop strap fastened to the main shaft of the monopod so that it doesn't get lost. These 3POD devices are relatively new and need fine-tuning, but they're pretty sturdy pieces of equipment.

great at any price

i have used this at several sports events over the last month, soccer, football, as well as a few portrait sessions where I wanted to use lower iso so slower shutter speed. It was a good purchase, easy to work with, the head and the feet work well together, dont hesitate to buy if you need a monopod. The last pod I bought before this one was probably 25 years ago, sure this one will last as long.

Great value for the money

A very sturdy monopod for the money. The fact that its also carbon fiber adds to the value and it comes with a good head on it, is another plus. All in all, this is a great value for the money!

A great mono-pod at a great price

This Mono-pod is greet. The lightweight of the carbon fiber, the three footed base makes the unit stable, even on soft surfaces. I use it with a long tele-photo lens and it makes using the camera during a sports game so much easier to handle the weight.I added a two dimension head for an easy to use package. I use it for Fujifilm X-T series camera with a 100-400mm lens.

Good Monopod

Very good MomoPod. I like the ease of use with the legs. Be careful its not a tripod. If you walk away from it with your canera lens still attached you may see your Monopod fall over.

Nice solid monopod at great price

Very solid, great quality monopod with legs. Exactly what I was looking for, at a great price. Recommend tightening the clamps with the included allen wrench. Also, the ball for panning at the base was a little tight at first, but it's good now with a little WD-40. Instructions were also quite interesting.

DEPENDABLE TOOL

This is my 3rd 3Pod Orbit 4-Section Aluminum tripod. My first was 2015 I believe and it shows no wear. It has been to S. Texas on the sand beaches and cleans up nice. It has been to Big Bend and wide open spaces and shooting video there with a heavy cam corder and at one time a 5Ds R. The 5Ds R now has its own 3Pod and a photo head. This new 3Pod I set up with a moment cage on a video head for my iPhone 14 ProMAX. The 3 heads are from 3Pod. I have 3 units and if needed I will get a fourth. It works and keeps working. DEPENDABLE TOOL. David

usable

for the price if youre looking at this during the sales where its $20, bump it up to 5. a great cheap little monopod to travel with if you dont wanna risk pricey gear. wouldnt leave it unmanned under any circumstances, and the pan system is annoying and easily comes unscrewed. for the price though? not half bad.

useful, but heavy and a little bit clunky

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with this monopod but there are enough minor annoyance issues that make me give it a 3 star rating. It is quite heavy for carbon monopod (partly due to the feet and head), and it does not collapse down to a particularly convenient length. When I received it I could not undo the bottom clamp. It comes with an hex key attached to the shaft, so I had to use that to loosen the bottom clamp to be able to undo it, and then the clamp would not fasten tight enough to stop the shaft from sliding down, so I ended up having to tighten the other bolt just above the clamp and then eventually I got just the right balance for that bolt and the clamp bolt. I should not have to do this though. This seems like a quality control issue during assembly. Then I also had issues with the head. For one thing, the bolt has to be really tight to stop the head flopping over with an SLR camera on it, and then I often am unable to get the camera/plate to fully latch into position and have to make several attempts to get it in place. The quick release works great though, in terms of actually releasing the plate and retaining the plate once it is properly latched in place.

Seen some comments from stupid people. This product does not replace a quality Tripod, but it is a help, an aid. Like a cane! Yes, I like it because I do not have to lay something down, it stands so I grab it quickly and something better than hand hold. It does everything it promise and more. Yes, recommend it strongly!! Lightweight yet plenty sturdy

Lightweight monopod, easily adjustable, very sturdily made. Particularly like the three little legs that come down to give additional stability, and ability to lock the ball at the bottom, or release it enabling 360 degree turns.

Light and easy to use!

Compared to the other monopods and tripods I own that are NOT carbon filter...this is as light as a feather. I've often left supports at home because of their weight. I'm sure that won't be the case with this one. It's very easy to use and I'm pleased. One of the best gifts my husband has ever purchased for me!

Practical, Useful Mono Pod with the option of feet. (feet included)

A very practical mono pod. The feet are very helpful, you can use with or without the feet. A great unit, Buy it for times when a Tripod won't work.

About 3Pod Orbit MonoPod

FEATURED REVIEWS

Best Monopod of a large collection.

By ROBERT D.

I have a good assortment of monopods and this is my favorite. Since I use a heavy long lens most of the time for wildlife in the Rocky Mountains a monopod is a must to capture wildlife. Other monopods not all that stable, especially when shooting in tall grass or or from a rock. This monopod fits the bill perfectly as it is strong and stable. With the feet configured the way they are it is very easy to get the shot I want and still feel the camera and lens are stable.

Great Monopod and Great Price

By Jeff L.

We were looking for something that would steady a dslr camera for shooting video while using longer focal lenses. No matter how steady you hold the camera by hand or even in a rig, it is jittery. This monopod solved that issue. Very stable and allows for some movement forward, back and side to side that is very smooth. The quality and build of the product was MUCH BETTER than we expected for the price.
