I had to upgrade my old Netgear modem to allow for my new internet speed of 800 mbps. The CM1200 was a very good value option. It is perfect for people who have a separate router and satellite system.

Perfect For New Internet Speed of 800 mbps

I've been a long time user of multiple networking devices by Netgear, most recently the Nighthawk AC1900 Modem/Router Combo with Wi Fi 5 capability. Although, I now have dedicated devices for Wi Fi 6, the CM1200 Modem has been a game changer with my Xfinity internet service.

Game Changer!

Works very well most of the time. However I've been having periodic connection issues. The Xfinity service person verified internet and said this modem is not fully up to docsis 3.1 standard, that it is more a 'transition' modem between 3.0 and 3.1. I've had two separate service calls and they've blamed the modem each time. I've had it less than a year and will likely need to replace with a true 3.1 modem.

Not quite docsis 3.1...

I finally cut the cord to cable. My xfinity modem/router had weak coverage and didn't want to pay to rent crap equipment. Handles streaming TV's and other devices throughout my home AND yard !

Nighthawk modem

Chose this one based on reviews & Netgear's reputation.  This modem made NO difference in speed.  Waste of $$$

Amazing Cable Modem

Just purchased new modem from Amazon. The setup required us to call our internet provider to set it up (unlike what the directions say about doing it with an Ethernet cord and laptop), but it was fairly quick and easy. It has run smooth ever since.

Nighthawk Modem 3.1

I had a small problem connecting the modem. Netgear was exceptional with customer service followup.

Improved WiFi

Only 1 Ethernet works on the modem, the rest are useless. I called tech support and after 30 min hold they said the same thing. I need to buy a router even with the other ports being available to use.

Terrible modem

Happy to own 3 of these very fast CM1200 cable modems. We don't like paying the cable internet supplier forever for their equipment. These are very reliable and easy to setup units.

Pretty much Plug and play once registered with your cable provider. Has a Web-based monitoring too!

CM1200 was easy to hook up and the help line person at provided number for registration/warranty gave next steps for contacting internet provider and what they would need to complete the set up.

The product was highly recommended and I will keep it for future use but now I can not use it because My area has only dial up internet access with local telco  your unit doesn't accept that type of feed.  A coax input  I did not realize that till I tried to install it. I am hoping for better service so I can use your product

Won't accept dialup

I bought this to replace an older Nighthawk cable modem that was over 5 years old but still working.  This unit was easy to setup and is faster. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Great Product

I needed a new cable modem for my Orbi system at my vacation home.  The older Nighthawk modem was starting have issues.  It was easy to hook up and appears to have better speed.  Very happy.

Great product

Simple to setup, activate and administer.  Was able to use the DSL MAC to enable the modem myself on the xfinity web site.  Speeds have tripled over my old Docsis 3.0 modem.

One of the best.

Bought this 2 years and Cox couldn't get it to work.  Tried again Jan 2025 and once again Cox couldn't get it to work.  It's my honest opinion that Cox is the problem. Two good installers and concerned service agents couldn't over come Cox's ignorant world of confusion when it comes to electronic service.  I'm back to my CM500 and two full days of trial and error to get my service back working.  Do I win the money now?

This Modem is a improvment to my WIFI with the use of a whole house router system

I was introduced to netgear products through a friend . I now have there modem and router and I'm very pleased. 
I called cust support and they were awesome and patient with helping setting up my modem.
I will suggest them to friends and family .

Great product and customer support

Setting up my CM1200 was a breeze. What most impressed me was I needed some assistance with my Netgear Orbi Mesh connected to the CM1200. Called support. Voice right away. Excellent support as very patient, knowledgable, and professional. Best call in support I have had in years!! Highly recommended Netgear products.

Simple and easy

I have noticed my TV does not buffer as much during peak times.  I would recommend this modem for speed and cost.

Very Pleased

Do not get if you use more than 1 gaming console or more than 5 devices at a time. 29 mbps with a google nest wifi that is reporting speeds of 569mbps. Modem says it's good connection but then on PS5, XBOX, etc. it's only 20mbps most of the time. Highest I'm able to run is at 125 mbps so far

Not great with multiple gaming devices

Recently purchased Netgear Cable Modem CM1200. Set up was easy, technical support excellent and all my devices connected through an external router (connnected to the modem) are working without any issues!

Netgeat Cable Modem

We purchased the Netgear Nighthawk Modem to replace a Spectrum modem that was supposed to be brand new but was worse than the modem we had prior.  It seems we cannot count on Spectrum products at all.  My son is a gamer, and this modem has been key to obtaining consistent connection and speed in the house so he can game while I work from home.  I highly recommend this product!
