Excellance You Expect!

This was by far an important investment in many ways. The efficiency I've found in Apple since I switched back in 2007 has continued to astonish me. Did I want to spend over $2K for a laptop, no. Was it worth the purchase, YES YES YES! I got a great deal with the instant rebate. I wish the space grey would have been available at the time of purchase. Will be a customer for life Adorama

Actually a good upgrade - coming from 2013 model

I am upgrading from a 2013 MacBook Pro Retina model with 512GB storage. I waited a while thinking that this was not as much of an upgrade and my 2013 model was fine except I needed 1TB. I took the plunge and am very glad I did. The screen, touch bar and new touchpad all make this a huge improvement. I even like the keyboard better and find that I miss it when using other machines. USB-C is a bit of a cost to get up to speed, but is mostly a one time cost once you have one of each cable and there are plenty of options now (in May 2017). I do like being able to charge from either side, but do miss the magsafe connector.

Exactly what I needed for an upgrade!

Upgraded from a 13" MacBook Pro to the 15" to get better performance. I was looking for a laptop with a dedicated GFX card to do more intensive photo and video editing. This laptop was perfect and fit the bill!

Great Upgrade

Used 2011 Mac Pro until now, and 7 years for a laptop with each OS improving applications response, cant beat that. This one is really a very nice upgrade and hope it is useful for another 7 years...

Love my MacBook Pro

Great build quality and fast. TouchID is great! Touch Bar is a neat feature but I haven't adjusted to looking at it on a semi-regular basis so it hasn't felt very useful yet.

MacBook Pro Late

Is really very, very thin and light, its a beautiful machine, best Mac I ever had. faster and awesome display. Cons: I expected more battery time, and the Touch Bar is awesome but is quite annoying because you keeping accidentally hitting the Escape and Siri Button all the time, and I didn't find it a way to fix this or disable them. Hope Apple fix that in next upgrade!

Could not be happier!

Not sure what all the fuss is about with this machine. This touch bar MacBook Pro 15" is wonderful. Not one issue at all. Much better performer than my old MacBook Pro 15". I have the 1TB SSD, i7 2.6GHz processor, Radeon Pro 450, in space gray. This came with MacOS Sierra (which is an upgrade from my older El Capitan) and I like it a lot. Used the migration tool to transfer all my files and it was easy and flawless.

Great machine for either pro or beginner

I got this for mainly development but a couple days before I got it my wife's laptop died, so I ended up loaning this to her for half of the day and she loves it. I was a bit skeptic about the new led bar, but it is actually a great little add-on and the touchId is the bomb

I would highly recommend this product those those who are weary about the touchbar

I would highly recommend this product those those who are weary about the touchbar. I went all out on the specs except for the hard drive as I could use an external if needed. The only issues I have are with apple's design to not have it easily opened up to change memory/upgrades. It was definitely a giant leap of changes to overcome with all these upgrades for me but I highly recommend it AND don't forget to get those dongles, there's a USB-C to ethernet, USB-C to multiple legacy ports (hdmi, SD card, USB 2 & so on). The only other thing to consider is an external CD/DVD drive as it becomes harder to install software that comes on a disc.

Its a very satisfying laptop, if you can live with dongles

This looks positively designer next to my Dell Latitude. The space grey adds to its sleek, modern look. Can't say I miss the glowing logo. Its thin, well built and has a fantastic screen. Keyboard is great, but takes some getting used to. Can potentially type faster, and key press feels great even though key travel is limited. Keyboard backlight is done quite nicely, no bleed. The speakers are amazing for a laptop. Hands down, one of the best speakers, not considering the huge gaming laptop which presumably might have large speakers. Touch ID is deceptively convenient, whether to login, or purchase, or use apps like 1Password. Fantastic! Saving the most novel feature for last, touchbar is not a game changer at least currently. But its definitely useful. Many apps have been updated for touchbar use. MS Word has some nice handy controls for quick access. Volume and brightness controls are a cinch. One will need to deliberately use the touchbar to appreciate its usefulness. Else it may easily get forgotten, especially for experienced Mac users who are familiar with shortcuts. Bottomline is, in typical Apple fashion, its well implemented and works without a hitch. You just need to apply it to use, which may not happen naturally. All in all, its a great machine. I got a great deal with Adorama, so I can't complain that its expensive.

Not all it's cracked up to be

Besides the obvious omissions that many pros rely on, I am having significant issues. Loud clicking keys (known issue), unpredictable batter life (known issue), volume keys on touch bar stopped working, hitting command + spacebar yields inconsistent results. Quite a frustrating experience after dropping $3K for my ultimate machine. Also, many programs just are not robust enough on Mac OS. Namely all of Microsoft Office.

Great Upgrade

I had been using a late 2010 17" MacBook Pro for years. It had been a great workhorse for me, but it was finally time for an upgrade. Working with large InDesign files and also working with large images and videos in the rest of the Adobe suite was becoming too much, and taking far too long on the old computer. This new MacBook Pro flies. I still can't believe how fast it flies through exporting videos even while I multitask on other things. The battery life is phenomenal. I do get nearly all day life unless I am rendering huge files. I would totally recommend this computer, especially if you are working from a machine 5 years or older, or moving from a pc.

MacBook Pro Lives Up to the Hype

Big upgrade from my 10 year old iMac. Very fast and superb picture quality. Initially I was hesitant downgrading from a 20 inch to 15 inch screen. But the smaller display hasn't bothered me.

Fantastic Personal Computer

Bought this to replace an aging iMac and am very pleased. Really like the Touch Bar and TouchID functionality. Also haven't found the conversion to USB-C to be too painful. I bought a new lightning cable and a USB Micro-B to USB C cable; I'm now able to use iPhone and iPad and my external hard drive just as with my old iMac.

Just your typical Apple fanboy

Firstly, the deals Adorama have are great. Buying this from Adorama saved me greatly on tax, the computer was heaviliy discounted as well as the AppleCare. I would 100% recommend to all my friends and family for future Apple purchases. I upgraded from a 2012 MacBook Pro 15" Retina and I was worried about loosing the HDMI and USB ports but I don't end up using them often anyways. The USB C ports really don't bother me that much. I actually like the uniform look of the ports. Yeah its a gripe you have to have dongles but in actuality the average user isn't constantly plugging in things to their laptops anyways. The absence of Magsafe is a little annoying but I like how the Mac can be charged on either side. I'm surprised how quickly it charges and despite the battery being a quarter smaller than before I'm actually seeing better battery life then my 2012 MacBook Pro 15" Retina even having it replaced recently. The fans rarely run and for the common user who spends most of their time on the internet or in word or who likes to play the occasional basic video game (Sims 4) I think it goes above and beyond than what is really needed. I wish the SSD was upgradeable. I'm sure eventually the 256GB will not be enough. I've resorted to having my 256GB iPhone 7 Plus back up to iCloud now so thats not a big deal to me paying $3 mo for 200GB of storage. I think that justifies versus paying the additional $400+ for a slightly faster processor and the 512GB SSD. Overall, I love this computer. It's my 3rd Mac Book Pro and won't be my last. I do wish the space gray finish didn't chip up around the edges but I'd also highly recommend a matte clear skin to get for the device to help with scratches. It'll also help your resale value down the line. Hope my ran helps someone. Hopefully this helps you with your next or first Mac purchase!

Best Balance of Design Choices Available

One of the things that I believe makes Apple so successful is the thoughtful balance of smart design choices they make on every device they sell. The 2016 15" 2.9GHZ, I7, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, AMD RADEON PRO 460 Laptop I purchased is a piece of art and certainly no exception to this rule. There are many different tradeoffs in laptops. I could have purchased a laptop with a more powerful graphics card or a higher resolution display or more memory etc., but each choice comes with consequences that ultimately lead to a much bigger battery or much less battery life. Weight, size and battery life are all important considerations for a portable computer. Mac OS Sierra: After using every Windows operating system from Windows 3.0 to Windows 10, I am happy to change to Mac OS Sierra. My previous Dell XPS computer came with Vista on it. After over 20 times of having to format the hard drive and reload all software and updates, I went to War-Mart and bought a copy of Windows 7. More than 5 years of reasonably problem-free use followed. Then I "upgraded" to Windows 10. After about 4 months, my Start Button menu stopped working completely. I went to the Knowledge base and discovered this was a fairly common, well documented problem with a number of suggested work-arounds. After trying the first 5 recommended work-arounds without success, #6 was to reload Windows 10 and all software. I purchased my son and daughter each a MacBook Air for college and one of the things I noticed, was how reliable they have been. In fact, neither of my children have ever had an issue with their machine. I would estimate that I have spent over 1000 man hours troubleshooting Windows issues and reloading the software and operating systems over time. The main reason I purchased an Apple MacBook Pro is because of the problem free reliability of the Mac OS operating system. Overall Pros: The 15" MBP is a really smart balance of choices that produce outstanding overall performance (i.e. graphics, speed, storage, size, weight, battery life) with minimal compromise in any area. From my standpoint, the biggest pro is the reliability of Mac OS. I buy computers to do work, not to spend my time troubleshooting problems and reloading the operating system, software, and hundreds of software updates. Cons: The biggest con is cost. Apple computers are expensive compared to other alternatives and you either believe they are worth the extra cost or you believe they are not. Another big con is gaming/software availability. There is allot more software that is available (especially games) for Windows than for Mac OS. This can be partly offset if you use Boot Camp to dual boot your MBP. Other laptops beat the MBP when you only consider a single area of focus (e.g. graphics card or display resolution, etc.) rather than the whole package.
