I don't have anything bad to say about this box since using it. It out performs any development machines I've ever used. I wish I would have forked out for the extra storage but that's a solvable problem with external drives.

Both the smallest and most powerful computer I've ever owned in almost 40 years, starting with a MacPlus, a couple of earlier Mac Minis, MacBooks, and the odd Windows/Linux homebuilt

An incredible machine inside such a small form, but not much of an upgrade from its earlier brother, the Mac Mini M2 Pro I'm afraid to say. And this is because the Mac Mini M2 Pro was already a powerhouse of a computer that did everything I needed it to do with braw footage using tons of effects, transitions and multilayered editing while watching several open tabs of 4k videos on youtube. I did the tests in DaVinci Resolve, and the decrease between the 2 machines with 1 hour timeline exports using braw, loaded with tons of very gpu intensive effects and composite clips, transitions everywhere, is within only a 5-8 min difference, which on a 1 hour timeline of export time is not very noticeable. On shorter timelines the differences in export time between the 2 machines are barely above 2-3 minutes. In terms of everyday workflow, I couldn't tell the difference, both machines seem to be equal in handling very intensive effects. I still needed to cache some effects in the same way I had to do on the previous MM M2 Pro. So in my estimation it is not a worthy upgrade from the MM M2 Pro. in fact it heats up a lot more times than the MM M2 Pro, but the heat is far from obnoxious, it manages to maintain a nice warmth when dealing with gpu intensive effects. The MM M2 Pro stayed cool 90% of the time, and the MM M4 Pro stays cool around 60% of the time; this is while working in Davinci Resolve. As a first machine this little guy is leaps and bounds faster and more efficient than anything in its weight class prior to the MM M2 Pro, but as an upgrade definitely not. However, I don't regret at all my purchase due to one thing that was my main reason, the form factor. I like to travel with my Mac Minis and the M4 Pro is so much nicer and the weight is just a dream to carry around with my external monitor, a few cables, keyboard and trackpad to get work done. And btw the 14/20 cores configuration doesn't make any difference in video editing with the base model being that it didn't make much of a difference with the MM M2 Pro. Hope this helps.
