For years, Lowepro has been creating camera bags that are designed for working creatives and built for travel and use in the outdoors. Now, the brand is announcing the Pro Trekker AW II series, featuring four camera bags — the Pro Trekker BP 350 AW II, Pro Trekker BP 450 AW II, Pro Trekker RLX 450 AW II, and the Pro Trekker BP 550 AW II — that are carry-on compatible and backcountry-ready, combining both utility and durability in a series that has been redesigned for greater performance and versatility.

All four bags in the Pro Trekker AW II series sport the new grey and back colorway and were designed to cover the travel needs of the advanced enthusiast or professional, while being built to withstand serious use in the outdoors, even in the most challenging conditions.

The Pro Trekker BP 350 and 450 AW II backpacks offer similar features, and differ in volume size and the amount of gear they can hold. Both packs can be configured to hold a pro level DSLR or mirrorless camera kit comfortably, including camera bodies, lenses, speedlights, and even a drone, while also housing all the smaller accessories needed to shoot successfully in the field. Depending on your equipment hauling needs, some photographers may lean towards the Pro Trekker BP 450 AW II backpack due to its greater internal depth.

Internally, both packs feature the fully configurable MaxFit divider system for camera gear, with split level dividers and a removable gearbox that can house and organize small items like batteries, cables, or filters. Both packs also feature a large, front, internal pocket with CradleFit organization pockets, which suspend and protect up to a 15” laptop and 10” tablet, along with a transparent zippered pocket for a hard drive, and smaller organizational pockets for memory cards and charging cables.

Externally, the Pro Trekker BP 350 and 450 AW II backpacks feature a zip stash pocket for travel ID, phone, and small items like sunglasses, as well as an easy-to-reach side zip pocket which opens wide for water bottle storage.

Both packs were designed to utilize external space as well. On the front of both packs, there are two removable, quick-release accessory straps for attaching tripods or external gear. Additionally, the Pro Trekker BP 350 and 450 AW II bags feature the SlipLock™ system on the side and front, which can attach modular components, as well as the included, removable tripod cup, which allows for a tripod and/or personal gear to be strapped externally to the pack.

Finally, the Pro Trekker BP 350 and 450 AW II backpacks were designed with comfort and utility in mind when traveling and in the outdoors. Both packs have harnesses that stow in the back panels for easy carry-on handling, a removable waist belt, with Velcro panel, and two low-profile side and top handles, for easy carrying when the pack harness is stowed away. You’ll also see that these packs have “AW” or “All Weather” in the name, and for good reason. Each pack comes with “AW cover” for protection against the elements, so you don’t need to worry about your camera gear, even when shooting in inclement weather.

The Pro Trekker RLX 450 AW II, is made for the heavy-duty traveler, and was designed with the same features and camera gear capacity as the Pro Trekker BP 450 AW II. However, it has one travel feature that makes it unique in this series.

In addition to the stow-able harness and removable waist belt, the RLX 450 AW II easily converts from a backpack to a roller, with heavy duty wheels and cartridge ball bearings, as well as a retractable luggage handle on the top of the pack, which allows for easy maneuverability while on-the-go or at the airport.

Finally, we come to the largest of the four packs in the Pro Trekker AW II series: the Pro Trekker BP 550 AW II. While this backpack was designed with similar internal and external features as the other packs in the Pro Trekker AW II series, it was built with additional features that make it the most adventure- and outdoor-ready pack of this series, as well as a unique, two modular gear carrying system which maximizes the gear carrying ability of this pack.

Some of these outdoor-ready features include a removable top lid for carry-on compatibility, which can house personal items like extra layers or a headlamp, as well as an external pocket for a hydration reservoir, and zip pockets on the removable hip belt, for easy-to-reach essentials.

The BP 550 AW II also features ActivZone back paneling for all day comfort in the outdoors, as well as a camera strap keeper on the shoulder strap, which secures your camera on the outside of your pack so you can shoot uninterrupted, even when hiking or trekking.

However, what stands out about this pack is its unique, two modular gear-carrying system. The first module is in the backpack body. Utilizing the MaxFit divider system, it can house up two to three pro level DSLR or mirrorless camera bodies, four to six lenses, and two Speedlights. It even has the room to hold a 400mm lens attached to a camera body, which is impressive. In addition to housing camera gear, this first zippered module can hold a 15” laptop, cables, and hard drives, thanks to the suspended CradleFit organization pockets nestled inside.

The second module is found in the independent, secondary gearbox that fits securely under the removable top lid of the pack. This gearbox can house items like batteries, cables, small accessories, or a drone kit. This two modular gear-carry system allows the Pro Trekker BP 550 AW II to carry all the gear you need, even in the backcountry.

It’s safe to that Lowepro has created four bags in the Pro Trekker AW II series that are as adventure- and travel-ready as any camera backpacks on the market, and can take you and your camera gear to your next destination, without missing any of the amazing moments in between.

The Pro Trekker AW II series is available for preorder now and includes:
