Vlogging in focus:
The new LUMIX G100 camera is ideal and crafted for vlogging and self-portraits. The Digital Single Lens Mirrorless camera is capable of 4K video recording in 30p/25p (50Hz area), 30p (60Hz area), or 24p in MP4, and full HD recording in 60p/50 (50Hz area) and 60p (60Hz area). The G100 can adapt to a range of aspect ratios including 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 4:5, 5:4, and 9:16. The variety in video formats and ratios gives creators flexibility in lighting sources, frequencies, and shareable platforms.
To accommodate walk-and-talk-style shooting, the LUMIX G100 incorporates 5-axis hybrid image stabilization to stifle any shakiness. Further, the all new Video Selfie Mode automatically adjusts aperture to keep both the subject and background in clear, crisp focus throughout the clip. Creators can express their creativity and ideas with slow motion recording at 4x and 2x, and quick recording at 8x, 4x, 2x the speed — plus a timelapse mode. For the veteran videographer, the LUMIX G100 supports VLogL recording to drop a look-up table (LUT) on the footage in post for color grading.
The camera uses a 20.3-megapixel MOS sensor and has an ISO range up to 25600, so creators will notice clarity while shooting in low-light situations.
Professional audio:
A major selling point of the LUMIX G100 is the built-in, high-quality, spatial audio recording. Instead of paying for and mounting an external microphone, creators can record professional audio straight from the camera. LUMIX partnered with OZO Audio by Nokia to create a three-microphone setup that is geared towards universal playback on different media platforms. The microphone is suited to record audio in any situation and uses five different modes: tracking, surround, auto, front, and back. Tracking mode will follow and record the audio of the subject, while auto mode will switch between tracking and surround mode for the best audio.
Connectivity and sharing:
The LUMIX G100 is both WiFi- and Bluetooth-enabled to streamline the sharing and upload process. With the push of a button, creators can transfer their photos and videos to their smartphones via the LUMIX Sync app. The G100 can also act as a webcam using the HDMI for video output to their computer.
Lastly, the G100 is compact and weighs only 412g with the lens attached.
The Panasonic Lumix G100 is available for preorder now for at Adorama.
