JUST REVERSE THE MOUNT YOU TURKEYS
The other viewer here is flat wrong, in fact 19 out of 20 Youtuber reviewers [including ones I respect] got this, something so basic, wrong: yes, t is true that the proprietary mount is unidirectional, but you can simply and *easily* reverse the mount itself! Just unscrew the bracket from the base, flip, and re-insert. It's so self-evident a solution that Amaran must surely be banging their heads against a wall in disbelief at all these reviewers failing to realize it. All this mount criticism is proving that even normally reliable, smart people can blink right past the obvious, even sometimes, such as now, in droves.

First impressions... great spec sheet, but frustrating
I'm giving this 3 stars based on proprietary bracket. On paper, the Ray 120c checks a lot of boxes: Bowens mount, solid output for the size, and really light weight. In practice, Amaran didn't think this through. The proprietary battery mount forces you to strap the power bank directly underneath the light head, which not only adds bulk back to a fixture that's supposed to be light, but also limits how you can angle it on a stand or boom. You end up needing a separate bracket just to mount it the way you'd expect a Bowens-mount light to mount - which means budgeting for an accessory that should've been unnecessary in the first place. So far it's a light I want to like more than I currently do. Iwon't return it but probably should have gone with the Nanlite 120c

Powered by the OmniColor light engine, the amaran Ray 60c reproduces light that looks true-to-life - both on camera and to the eye. Building on amaran's previous full color chipset, OmniColor expands the red and blue ranges to deliver a fuller, more balanced spectrum of light - achieving SSI scores of 87 (Tungsten) and 80 (D56).
