Surprised...but not surprised

I bought the Pro5x to replace a older set of Sennheiser over-the-ear that I ended up hating. My standby are wonderful in-ear but can be a pain to set up. The price and reviews were positive for the Pro5x so I decided it was time to try them out. I first plugged them into my LG Quad DAC phone containing FLAC files. That wasn't a good experience and found out since then, the impedance can fool the phone (solved). Before I gave up, I plugged them into my AudioEngine D1 DAC. WOW and with a little EQ...WOW'er! Very comfortable. Bass response is alive and it can be controlled. High volume does not clip or strain and they are not harsh. I plugged in a few songs that will either kill'em or make them shine. I am not a classical music guy but that's great way to test range and detail. It was easy to focus on certain instruments. They shined! The dual cord option is a nice touch. A bag would of been a great addition. I will enjoy them!!

Really great option for the price

For the price these are great for the price. I got these to compare to my discontinued PRO500's that I currently use for DJing. I love how clean the PRO5's are, and they take advantage of Dolby Atmos separation [currently testing them with my PC]. The upper frequencies stay clean and don't get screechy with increased volume, and the lower frequencies are present, but not as immersive as the PRO500's, but more than the M50x's. There's a lot "phatness" missing, but it's still very enjoyable. I can't wait to see how they hold up in club environments, but I'm not ready to retire my PRO500's just yet. Clean sound, very comfy compared to the PRO500's, very balanced, and for the price there's not going to be much in the market that can beat them overall. Very happy to have them in the arsenal.
