Kevin B : Does the center column have a hook on the end of it so you can hang a pack to keep the tripod steady in windy conditions?ROBERT D : No. But it does have a sturdy plastic screw cap on the end. You could easily drill a hole in it to attach a hook.PETER H : No, there is not a hook. But there is a center column that you could hang some weight on (the cap on the bottom of the column is wider than the column). If you really wanted a hook, you could remove the threaded plastic cap from the column. Then drill a small hole and put a hook into it.Rod D : There is not a hook.Kevin B : Thanks very much Brandon. I'll give the Dolica a look.BRANDON G : No. If you're looking for a tripod with a hook on the bottom of the center column with a few more features like a compass, included carrying bag, padded foam on all legs, and a bigger ball head but a tad heavier, take a look at the Dolica AX620B100 62-Inch Proline Tripod and Ball Head which is a better buy in my opinion. The advantage that the Benro has is maximum height which is 63" versus 60" on the Dolica Proline. Although, the Benro is only 1" taller at 51.2" with the center column retracted. The Benro is 2.3 pounds versus 2.5 pounds on the Dolica. Lastly, the Benro has a 2 piece center column where you can use the smaller piece to use as the center column in order to get very low on the ground which you can't do on the Dolica. They show a pic here on how low you can get with the Benro. The Dolica is built just a well but seems to have alot more going for it particularly the cheaper price. I'd get the Dolica instead if the few inches maximum and minimum height doesn't matter and .2 pounds heavier isn't a concern.MICHAEL G : I just looked at the description and it says it has a hook. You may want to contact the company, i'm going to, because mine did not come with a hook.MICHAEL G : No, there is no hook. There is a threaded knob on the bottom of the center column, but i haven't looked to see if they make an option for a hook.
Shopper : Can you take off the ball head and replace it with a different brand one?ROBERT A : I have no idea. I have been quite happy with the tripod though. Rob AROBERT D : No. I looked at it closely and didn't see any way of removing th ball head.PETER H : The head does just unscrew. I am not sure why you would want to change the head. But if you wanted to make the tripod lighter, you could just leave the head off and just screw your camera directly on to the tripod.MICHAEL D : I left the head but replaced the plate with: Manfrotto QR Adaptor w/200PL-14 Plate Black Rapid Fasten R-T1for Manfrotto 200PL-14 Plate To use with my Black Rapid strap MikeMICHAEL G : Yes you can. It has a standard 1/4-20 thread stud. You may have to hold the main center shaft to be unscrew the ball head.MICHAEL D : I left the head but replaced the plate with: Manfrotto QR Adaptor w/200PL-14 Plate Black Rapid Fasten R-T1for Manfrotto 200PL-14 Plate To use with my Black Rapid strap MikeANDREW L : I haven't tried it, but the head just screws on and off, so I don't see why it wouldn't work.JASON E : yesSCOTT F : Yes it has the standard screw that fixes the ball head to the legs.
Shopper : How does this compare with Dolica GX600B200 60 inch tripod?EDWIN L : This tripod is very nice, but very light so it moves when panning. There is nothing that can be done about this problem. I don't know about other tripods.DAVID N : I really like my Gitzo, but I can't compare to the Dolica GX600B200 60 inch tripod since I have no experience with it. I don't think you can wrong with the Gitzo GT0531 if you are looking for a light stable tripod. David Nall

Nice light and solid

I wanted a light yet sturdy carry around tripod that would get very low. for me this fits the bill. well made. I particularly like the two section/reversible center column . The ball head is basic, but will get the job done. I replaced mine with a 3 pro for a bit better control and to handle a bit more camera weight. the head that came with the tripod I've put on a mono pod where it is a more at home. within it's weight limitations it is a very good tripod. wouldn't recommend this for a big DSLR with long lens, down low it is sturdy enough on a calm day for a fairly heavy medium format camera with a wide lens. if you are looking for a nice light low tripod this is nice. If you need one that will extend for standing, windy days, or long lenses then look for something heavier.

This tripod will be perfect for my use

I have been shopping with Adorama since they had a black&white printed catalogue and carried only photography items -- but things have changed exponentially in over thirty years.

Outstanding tripod!

I bought this as a gift for my brother and had to try it out. I like everything about it. Lightweight, easy to set up. I liked the fact that you can remove center post and get your camera down low for a different type of look. Very sturdy unit.

One of the best travel / hiking tripods

The Benro is a pretty solid tripod that is super light weight and compact for travel and or hiking/backpacking. It's well built with quality aluminum materials and is quite stable. It's one of the best tripods I own for the price I paid. The included ball head performs surprisingly well and locks your camera in position provided that you're not mounting anything massive or too heavy for the tripod. It was my first travel tripod and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another...
