Questions & Answers

Deborah G : I am a landscape photographer and need a good, lightweight travel tripod for my full frame Nikon and lenses. I currently have a Dolica travel tripod with ball head. The ball head no longer holds my camera and lenses securely and the legs are not as stable as I would like. I've heard good things about the Benro Travel Angel tripod. Does the Benro head hold up to a 7 lbs camera and lens securely with no moving?CHRIS L : Hi Debrora, I don't have a full frame camera (D-90) but I do have a manfrotto 496RC2 ball head that I use with this tripod. I like this tripod as it fits in a suitcase and is pretty stable for my all needs.DENNIS R : I use mine with a Sony A850 and 28-105 or 70-210f4 without a lens mount and have had no notice of creep even on long exposures. I've also mounted my 80-200f2.8 with a lens mount with no trouble either. Overall very well built compact tripod for travel. I love my Manfrotto 055XPROB, but this fits my suitcase better and is half the weight, with no major downfalls.JASEM A : Well the tripod is very quality but i did not try this weight on tripod , i' m sorry if my answer not so helpfull for you Sir Yours Jasem Alhasawi KuwaitBARTT C : Deb, Answer: Yes. I actually did this: I laid the tripod on a table with the head hanging off. I tightened the clamp on the head with more than my usual force ( I have a average size DX dslr) and hung 10 pounds on it with my belt. The head didn't move at all. I've taken this tripod to Arizona, South Beach, Rome and Paris. Its not that lightweight but works just as it should. And after seeing the shots I've taken on it, I've never ever been sorry about the purchase. Or the weight. The legs are as stable as I guess they could be without actual clamps where they meet the 'pod.' Again, never had a problem. One last thing- Do this every time you unfold the legs: immediately lower the vertical shaft that the head sits on to its lowest position. Make that a habit. You know why. BarttWILFORD K : yes the tri pod will hold up your camera . it holds my canon 60d with a 500mm lens very well. it is strong any very stable. i hope this helps you.WALTER L : I use the Canon 5D MarkII with a variety of lenses on this tripod with no problems. I bought it because it supports 13 lbs.FREDERIC B : Yes, the Benro Travel Angel should meet your needs. If you really need additional stability, try the next larger tripod in the series. It comes with a larger ball head.WILLIAM D : Hello Deborah, I do like the legs and center column of the Benro. The head does support and lock well; its movement is not dampened so you will need two hands when adjusting camera angle. I have used the travel angel with a D700 or D7100 with one of three different Zeiss' (21mm, 35mm or 100mm) or a gh1 with the 14-140mm and some other smaller lenses. The combos did well and it does travel well and even in cold weather -20c. Take Care, LiamMARK K : I used it with the ball head holding a 5.5 pound video camera. The tripod itself is great. Light and folds to a nice compact size.SUSAN N : I use the benro to hold my canon 7d and varying lenses up to a sigma 500 mm lense with no problems. The tripod is very stable and I am still using the original ball head. I believe the weight limit was once advertised for cameras weighing up to 11 lbs. CARL K : I use the Benro with my Canon 7D, full frame DSLR with mostly wides in the field, so it does not top out any where near 7lbs. I really can't say one way or another about this tripod with that much weight. I'm not saying it would be unstable, I just don't know. For me, weight was a big concern and this little guy has never let me down.
LORRAINE F : Hi, Is this tripod as good as they claim it is?FREDERIC B : Hi, The Benro tripod works well for me. It fits in my suitcase easily. It is stable. It easily supports my camera and long lens, Canon 100 - 400 mm. I purchased extra mounting plates for the ball head, but they are not really needed. In short, I like it. I think it is a good buy. FredBFRANK T : ...The tripod was not used for traditional purposes. It was purchased for my son who is active military and was modified to support something other than a camera. It held up well under extreme use for seven months in afganistan. He still has it and it is still in is operational.CHRIS L : I bought this last year to use for travel, it does fit in a suitcase and it is lighter than my old tripod. I had no problems and I am very happy with it.RANDY O : This has been a great travel tripod. I take it on every trip to Mexico. It folds down very compact and extends out to a very nice height. The ball head is quick and simple.MATIN M : I have this and it's great. Well built and worth the cost. It has replaced my much larger and heavier manfrotto for all non studio workWALTER L : I like it. It worked out very well while hiking to shoot waterfalls. I also used it on my Canon 5D for some commercial jobs.SUSAN N : I like this tripod a lot. It is sturdy and light weight and folds nicely into its travel bag.MARY S : It has lived up to everything I read about it. I have had no problems at all!

GREAT!!!!

I tried a lot of travel tripods and found they had one thing in common, skinny legs but not this beast. I gave up a little in weight but gained so much in stability. Its very compact, has a good ball head, and saved me enough money to buy something else. I can't say enough about the staff. I come with a lot questions and they never rush me off to get to the next sale. That means a lot to me.

Perfect!

I use this tripod to shoot real estate, so it needs to move around pretty quickly and easily, which it does. Set up and break down are fast. Legs pull in easily when moving room to room and it feels rock solid.

A Good Buy For The Traveling Photographe

This is a good heavy duty tripod for travel if you are on a limited budget. The portability of this tripod has not compromised stability. The tripod is very solid. My use of the tripod has been limited to HDR landscapes and macro photography; for this, the tripod works well.

Great Combo of features

Great bang for the buck. Solid and well built. The twist locks are a big plus over clips. Sturdy and the reverse folding feature makes it tight for packing. Great quality.
