Great tripod, as it is very sturdy, even in strong winds, up to a point.  A pro level tripod.  The 3-way head that I got with this was good while it lasted.  Then a handle to set one of the axis for framing, quit gripping the lever!  So it became junk!  Then, when I contacted Manfrotto on their website, they said I didn't register it, when I know I did, in order to get the discount/rebate when I purchased it!  So I don't know if I will buy another Manfrotto item, when they changed their website in order to dump a number of customers records!  SO I currently use the tripod, with a new Benro geared head.  I also bought a PeakDesign travel tripod, because it is also my back up tripod now.  Like Ferraris, Manfrotto makes well designed stuff, but it broke after just a few years.  I do not recommend the head, but the tripod is fine.  Thus the 4-star rating.

Tripod (recommend) is good, and the 3-way head (not recommended) is NOT!!!

Used for spotting scope with camera attachment - smooth and steady that helps avoid shake blur.

good all around tripod

just what i was looking for!

Had to replace my old (and very expensive) tripods because they were designed for much heavier video cameras back then. This tripod is just right for my current needs. It handles the lighter cameras very well providing a very stable platform and a smooth fluid head.

Good tripod for tody's lighter cameras at a good price

This is really a video tripod, but I bought it for still photography mainly because I wanted to try out a fluid head and I needed a sturdier tripod than the light weight aluminum ones I have.  I am very pleased with the set up, the ease of changing and locking in  camera positions.  It is a little heavier than I had anticipated, but very sturdy which is what I wanted.  The fluid head is very smooth.  It is only a 2 way head, so you can't flip your camera up for a portrait scene but I knew that going in.  I'll add a portrait bracket to over come that.

Overall I would recommend it if you use longer, heavier lenses as it is very solid when set up or if you are shooting video and want the smooth panning the fluid head provides.
