I bought the Barrage Black Valox for one reason, to access the knife in an emergency situation should that ever occur. I work onboard the National Park Service Ranger3 ship that transports people and cargo from Houghton MI to Isle Royale National Park. I am always looking for people who may be in a bad situation and need my help. I feel that there is no job my Benchmade knive cannot handle. Sturdy, comfortable, and sharp, the way I hoped my first Benchmade would be.

I recently purchased a Benchmade knife, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. The blade came razor-sharp out of the box and has held its edge extremely well with regular use. The ergonomics are spot on, making it comfortable to carry and use daily. On top of that, the Axis lock feels solid and reliable every time. Benchmade clearly delivers both quality and performance, and this knife has quickly become my go-to. Highly recommend!

This is a quality made knife. It is my EDC. Nice deep picket carry. Very smooth flip action and as usual it is very sharp right out of the box. I really like the grip on this one and the large size fits my hands very well. I swear by my Benchmade knives! I own upwards of 15 different models. Thanks for a well made knife.

I absolutely love this knife. Its grip is comfortable and stable in my hand. The open assist is powerful and every aspect of the knife's construction is second to none! I carry it daily and use it multiple times a day!

Knife has become an heirloom! I bought a barrage in 2009 when they first came out. Dad loved mine so he bought one months later. Neither of us have yet to find another knife we like more. Going to order a custom barrage with a Damascus blade as soon as I finish writing this review! I seldom write reviews but I'm tickled they still make the barrage and benchmade has earned it with backing up an excellent engineered blade with dozens of lifesharp services over the years.

Don't know why I waited so long to own a benchmade, the Black Barrage is a great every day knife, so sharp and sturdy. Will probably add more to my collection in the future.

I am just a normal joe who uses this knife for all sorts of things. Breaking down boxes. removing cellophane from foodbank pallets and other daily tasks. Knife is big enough for a good grip, but slim enough that it feels normal in my pocket all day. I carry this everyday, all day.

If I could only have one knife, it would be one of these Barrage series knives. These knives are tough. Well centered. The blade flings out with authority. Well built. Full back spacer. Comfortable handle. Blade is double locked. The blade is well shaped. This knife can be used as an EDC or a tactical specimen. USA made!

This knife is great, as it should be for the price. It's actually more expensive than some budget 9mm pistols and 12 gauge shotguns. I bought this to pair with another similar model so I can send one back for life sharp and still have a great knife to carry.

Have been using this every day since I got it and it hasn't let me down despite all the action it sees, super durable plus the blade does everything I need it to do, and the size works really well for cutting through multiple layers at a time when needed. The Axis locking mechanism is nowhere near as complicated as people make it seem. There really isn't much to be left to be desired.

About 7 years ago I purchased a Mini Griptillian for a divorce present to myself and literally carried it every day for 7 years. I used and abused it constantly without failure. I was amazed with its craftsmanship and quality so when I decided I wanted to give it break, I purchased my Barrage about 2 week's ago and I wholeheartedly believe this knife will not disappoint. If anyone is on the fence about purchasing any Benchmade knife I would urge to pull the trigger, you will spend more money buying cheap knives and constantly replacing them. BUY ONCE CRY ONCE!

This was my first Benchmade and I loved it. I could get this thing crazy dirty and the assist would still fling the blade open like nothing was in the way and man, did that knife cut. This is another one I need to put back in the collection at some point

Really love this knife. It's beautifully engineered feels so perfect in the hand with the valox. It's plenty light without sacrificing confidence. Blade shape is great. Feels so perfectly balanced and not like a knife that just has a super light handle and poorly match blade weight. The assist is super strong. Also love the lock on the back. Makes me feel more comfortable carrying an assist around in my pocket.

I have used this knife EDC since 2017. Has never let me down, ever! As of 2025 arthritis is setting in and the assist opening is more beneficial than ever. It sharpens to a very keen edge on my Robert Sorby Pro Edge system - 600/1200/3000. Follow with a stropping and you have an edge that will last a long time. Of all my knives this is the King. Mine has the drop point with heal serrations.

This is the second Barrage that I've purchased. I've had the first one for 5 years and use it plenty every day. My wife and I have a small ranch with multiple needs for a reliable, sharp knife that's fast opening, corrosion resistant, tough and holds a good edge. I prefer it for skinning as well.
