This is my favorite utility knife I've ever had. It's sturdy and reliable, holding it edge under heavy use for at least a couple months (i. e. stripping wood, cutting straps, even digging). The only thing is, you have to keep up the maintenance (just like every piece of equipment) or it will start to gum up on you and not open fully under spring tension. It's hard to recommend a category because I use it for everything.

I love the AFO II knives. I carried the tonto tip model for over 7 years without any issue as it was gift from close friends of mine. Of course I was devastated when. I lost it, even more so when I learned the tonto tip model was no longer available. But I know I can trust this model to be just as amazingly reliable because I know I can trust benchmade quality to save my life when I need it. I absolutely love the way the handle design fits my hand like a glove. And ultimately that automatic opener is going to function every time.

Great knife for all purpose, serrated edge for quick cutting of rope in case of an emergency,espically aboard a fishing vessel. Also a great hunting knife for field dressing. Just a tad too big to carry in my right pant pocket comfortably. Mainly because I have been so used to the MINI REFLEX II, which I've had that model for 27 years. I'm happy with the AFO II, but please bring back the Mini Reflex II !!!!

I was issued my first Benchmade knife while I was in Iraq in 2003. This was an still is the best knife I have ever used. Over the years, I have purchased these as gifts for family and they have loved them.

This is my second AFO II. I purchased this as a back up in case something ever happens to my original. This knife is probably one of the best built all around auto for the money. Its made for heavy use not a delicate fancy pants knife.

The AFO II was my go to EDC during my time in the military and on three combat deployments. The AFO II kept its edge and handled the harshest conditions of combat operations from the sand to snow and worked without fail every time. Sad when it lost after returning home the last time. Glad to finally see them back in stock had to order a new one for my EDC.

My friend carried his AFO through Iraq and through the battle of Kandahar. He gifted it to me when he came home. It's a beautiful knife and holds and amazing and durable edge. I don't use the knife often, but sometimes I get it out and give thanks that he came home to us. Thank you Benchmade.

This knife is the AK-47. It does not get better in reliability. You could cover this thing and honey drop it in the sand and leave it there for two months and when you pick it up and press that button it's gonna come out just the way you want it to. I just purchased my fourth one. The blade holds an edge longer than any other knife I've ever seen hands-down. I can't see myself ever not having one. Mine is in my pocket or my hand whether I'm awake or asleep. And when I die, somebody better throw it in my coffin. The pictures included are of my first one that did not leave my pocket for 15 years until it was lost in a car accident. Everyone should have one of these knives. It should be issued to every person at the age of 18.

My son carried the AFO in Iraq. When he came home the knife had been through it. The tip had been broke however he was very attached to the knife and didn't want to take a chance sending it in. I feel in love with it and said I would get one one day. When I moved to a state a red one that I could have an auto I bought one. This knife while big is amazing quality for the price. After hearing his experience using his I'm not concerned Using this knife rather than sitting in the safe. Long time benchmade customer. I'm not a collector no matter what my wife says I use them. Still think you can't beat the style quality and price with benchmade. If I sound like a fanboy it's because I am. Thanks for a great product.

The AFO-ll is a very well constructed knife. Well balanced, feels great in my hand, opens easily, safety and blade release are both conveniently located for quick easy deployment. The heavy duty aluminum frame is durable and the blade came from the factory razor sharp! Additionally it has a bonus glass breaker point built into the body of the frame. This knife is well worth the $300 price tag!!

This knife is sturdy, durable and has some very decent weight to it. Not enough that it makes it heavy but enough that it feels comfortable. Very balanced and SHARP! I love the auto opening and the safety on it allows me to carry it in confidence that it will not open in my pocket. I climb up and down and crawl all day in my profession and this knife did not disappoint at all. My new EDC.

I enjoy this knife because of the feel in my hand. Weight is good. Auto mechanism is quick and not strong enough to throw the knife out of your hand. Great knife for first responders and firemen. The knife is of a larger size and weight for pocket carry but is perfect in both regards for tactical value. The spring mechanism is strong and the safety is a good touch for preventing opening in a packet. I have several bench made knives but this one is " beefier" and very constructed. I recommend this knife as an addition to an everyday carry collection for the time you wish to carry something a little more significant.
