What are the Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones
Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones is the successor to QuietComfort 35 Series II. They deliver high-fidelity audio performance and world-class noise cancellation that allow users to hear more of their music and movies - while traveling, at the office or at home. QuietComfort 45 delivers a new Aware Mode, improved battery life now up to 24 hours, and an updated design.
Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones
QuietComfort 45 Headphones offer the same unmatched combination of audio performance, while delivering improvements in key areas such as ANR performance, voice pick up, and up to 24 hours of battery life. In addition to the performance improvements, QuietComfort 45 introduces a new Aware mode, a noise rejection array for clear calls in noisy environments, and connects with the Bose Music App.
Product Technology
What is Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphone technology
Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphone technology is a method of reducing unwanted noise by electronically creating a signal that is the mirror image of the unwanted noise. Microphones in the earcups monitor sound at the user's ear and externally. The monitored sound (music and noise) is compared to the sound the user wants to hear (the signal coming from the audio input - this could be music or silence). The difference between the monitored sound (from the earcup's microphone) and the sound the user wants to hear (music or silence) is noise. The electronics in Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones instantly process the noise signal, and a precise equal and opposite signal (correction signal) is created. This opposite signal is then sent to the speaker in the earcup along with the sound the user wants to hear (again, this could be music or silence). The result is three signals being presented to the user's ear: noise from the environment, the sound the user wants to hear, and the correction signal from the electronics. The noise and the correction signal nearly cancel each other, providing a clean, high-fidelity sound signal at the ear.
What is TriPort acoustic headphone structure
Proprietary TriPort acoustic headphone structure utilizes external ports to vent the earcups and effectively enlarge the acoustic volume, without increasing the size of the earcup. The result is better audio and active noise reduction from a smaller, lighter, more comfortable headphone. TriPort acoustic headphone structure is used in all our consumer headphones and headsets.
How is the total noise cancellation in Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones achieved
Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones utilize both active and passive noise reduction technologies. They use a sophisticated proprietary electronics approach for active noise reduction, placing microphones both inside and outside the earcups. The electronics system senses the sound in almost any environment and then measures, compares, and reacts - instant by instant - to produce an opposing cancellation signal. Meanwhile, passive noise reduction is achieved by the combination of earcup fit, design, and clamping force of the headband.
What is Aware Mode
Aware Mode turns on the external microphones of the QuietComfort 45 Headphones and feeds ambient sounds into the headphones, enabling awareness of the sounds in the environment, such as cars and emergency vehicles, while still enjoying audio content. When there is no music playing, the effect is that it feels like you're not wearing headphones at all.
What is Active EQ
Active EQ (equalization) involves electronically tuning the frequency response to closely match the proprietary Bose response curve for headphone audio. The closer the frequency response comes to matching the target curve, the more lifelike the audio performance.
What is full-spectrum noise reduction
Think of a piano keyboard as the full spectrum of human hearing, from the low notes at one end, to the mid-range notes in the middle, to the high notes at the opposite end. Through a combination of advanced active electronics and passive attenuation, Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones reduce noise across the full range of human hearing (all the keys on the keyboard). Other noise reduction headphones may be effective at only some frequencies (only some of the keys on the full keyboard).
What is electronic noise floor
Noise floor is the electronic "hiss" that may be heard with some noise reduction headphones. This noise can be annoying and can take away from listening enjoyment. Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones use sophisticated electronic circuitry to minimize noise floor and make it virtually undetectable. This is especially important when using the headphones in transparency mode, where you're feeding sounds of the outside world into the driver signal. Noise in the system can be ampflied, impacting the naturalness of how you hear the outside world.
What is Bluetooth technology
Bluetooth technology is a wireless standard used in mobile devices to wirelessly connect them to headphones. This standard allows for audio to be transmitted wirelessly to the headphones. The standard also supports microphones for communications; multi-point, the ability to connect to two mobile devices simultaneously; and a remote to control your media.
What is A2DP
A2DP is a Bluetooth profile that streams stereo audio content. Using A2DP, Bose QuietComfort 45 Heaphones allow you to listen to videos, music, calls, and podcasts wirelessly from a Bluetooth mobile device.
What codec do Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones support
A codec is a digital audio encoder and decoder used to transfer data to Bluetooth audio devices like headphones and loudspeakers. Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones support the Low Complexity Subband Coding (SBC) and the Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) codec standards.
What is multi-point
Multi-point is a technology that allows Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones to maintain a connection to two devices at the same time so you can, for example, conveniently watch a movie on a tablet while still being connected to your phone. Bose software will then seamlessly transition between the two devices when you have an incoming call so you're always connected to the active source device
Product Performance
How good is the audio performance of Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones
A combination of technologies enables Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones to achieve high standards in headphone audio performance at any volume setting. Volume-optimized active EQ enhances clarity throughout the entire spectrum of sound for lifelike audio reproduction. TriPort acoustic headphone structure fosters a bass response not commonly found in such small headphones, and a low noise floor reduces the annoyance of an electronic hiss commonly found in other noise reduction headphones.
How much noise do Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones cancel
Bose doesn't make claims about percentage reduction because it is difficult to establish one number that is valid for different environments and situations. Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones reduce unwanted noise to a level that is noticeably more comfortable when compared to the same situation without using the headphones, especially in noisy environments like an airplane or a train. We encourage consumers to try it for themselves in a variety of situations, both with and without an external audio source.
How durable are Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones
Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones use proprietary materials specifically engineered to be comfortable and light while exceeding rigorous product quality testing. Glass-filled nylon is used to achieve a high level of durability while maintaining a light design. Stainless steel is used for the headband spring and pivots to ensure the headphones are durable enough for everyday use. They carry a one-year limited warranty in the U.S. for defects in materials and workmanship.
How comfortable are Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones
These headphones were designed to maximize all the features that contribute to user comfort, especially when using the headphones for extended periods of time. All materials have been selected for their comfort and lightweight properties. Protein leather is used for its comfort, durability, and acoustical properties. The earcups rotate easily for a uniform, comfortable seal. And most importantly, stability is achieved with minimal clamping force, allowing for hours of comfortable wear.
