S caner need improments
Good printer but scanner has things that should be improved. The top boarder lets the document/pic a little too high and out of the picture. The scanning program has to only pr-set sizes and should have a custom option. Also an option for multi pic scan that detects and outlines the pics with adjustable boarders.

Not easy to use

Connection Issues
My computer will connect and print , but my wife's computer will not. I guess the other reviews that mention connection issues are right.

Stopped working and no live support available
Print driver stopped working and have tried everything to get it reinstalled but it will not reinstall. Support has been completely lacking. In this case I need I live person to help but apparently there is no option for this

Paper Tray Issue
Keeps saying needs paper when tray is full. Open and close the paper tray door several times and it will work then it does the same thing again.

I like it a lot!
The best printer for my needs!
The only issue I have is with the app, when I select Connect Printer it comes back saying I am connected but nothing happens. I see no additional stats and Connect Printer is greyed out.

Printer was buggy right of the box
I give it one star because it prints well. Since new I haven't been able to update the firmware in spite of multiple notifications to do so. When attempting to install the update it asks for the printer's password. I enter it (from the label in the back of the printer) but the installer rejects it stating is not the correct password. Contacted customer support and they were useless, just going over the manual instructions (I can do that) and incapable of giving out step by step instructions to actually fix the issue after close to an hour. Gave up in frustration and I'm warning everyone else to avoid this brand and their spotty and unhelpful technical support.

Engineered in Clown World
I did substantial research prior to buying this machine. Everything looked really good from documentation and reviews. Upon receipt and setup, I was very impressed, and it performed wonderful for simple prints and scans. My friend asked me how it did with envelopes, but I made the serious mistake of assuming it would do great, so I didn't test that for a couple of days. Upon testing envelope printing, I found that this machine is incapable of handling standard #10 business envelopes with ease. Each print was severely wrinkled and on a couple of occasions, it printed the addresses crooked. Wow, what is wrong with this machine? A dud? I did further research, and was utterly astonished. Brother expects users to open the back panel (no big deal) and then shove down two SMALL, highly-tensioned "green levers" in order to print a simple envelope! This is a joke, right? In order to go back to normal printing, you have to reverse the process, flipping up the green levers. This is totally unsuitable for most businesses that don't have time for such stupidity, and, in the case of some users who have arthritis in the hands, it simply will not work for them.
I returned this clown world engineering product and bought a Canon MF465dw. You should, too. Prints perfectly, every time, and no green levers! You put in the standard envelope in the bypass tray, push print, and it pops out perfect, no wrinkling, no distortion, no hassle.

Do not buy this
This printer had big problems. It worked fine at first, but then would constantly go to sleep and wouldn't print over Wi-Fi. I tried all the fixes left by other users that had the same problem and the fixes recommended by Brother. Nothing worked. I tried to return it to Office Depot but I was past the 15-day return window. I bought a similar HP instead and it works great.

Great5value for an "I can do everything" printer
I trued other printers that cost less, but this one so outweighed other printers anywhere near it current price. It is fast, for printing and scanning, prints beautiful text and has an easy to set up scanner. It automatically configured itself for my network. Really neat. My previous Brother lasted over 10 years.

Brother DCP2640DW Paper Jams
I generally like the Brother DCP2640DW laser printer. My complaint is frequent paper jams. The printer is for personal use, thus is not printing a lot. However, I have experienced three paper jams in four weeks. There are days the printer is not used, so I view these paper jams too frequent. I had an older Brother laser printer that printed for years and rarely a jam. I did not want to buy any more toner and another new drum for it because of its age. So, I purchased this DCP2640DW. Hope I didn't make a mistake.

Noisy after printing
The only thing that is annoying at the least is the noise it produces when idle. After printing it continues to run loudly. Either than that it does awesome on printing and performance
