Filter does as advertised with the high quality I've come to expect from B&W Filters. Both pictures were taken with an Olympus E-520, ISO-100, F/2.8, Focal Length = 12mm. The first, the reference picture, the shutter speed was 1/250 sec. The second, the IR picture using the B&W 092 filter, the shutter speed was 3 seconds. This gives an overall filter factor of 750. Taking into account the advertised 20 to 40 filter factor for the filter this leaves the internal E-520 IR blocking filter with a factor of 25. Bottom line, IR photography is possible with a E-520 using this filter if the camera is mounted on a tripod.

While B+W is renowned for its diverse range of infrared photography filters, the 55mm Infrared Filter #092 (89B/RG695) stands out for its unique features and high-quality performance. This durable and effective filter is primarily designed for black and white infrared films, making it an essential tool for photographers aiming to capture innovative and dramatic effects in their work.
The #092 filter, characterized by its dark red hue, expertly filters out light below 650 nm. When used with color infrared film, it produces images of a pure red, effectively utilizing the relatively low sensitivity of infrared films. This results in photographs that are not only unique but also rich in depth and detail. The filter factor for this versatile infrared filter is approximately 20 - 40, depending on the specific conditions of use.
B+W also offers the #093 and #099 filters, each with their own distinct features. The black #093 filter filters out the entire visible spectrum and is used with black and white infrared films with a sensitivity up to 1000nm. The filter factor for this model is determined by the film sensitivity. On the other hand, the orange-colored #099 filter blocks the blue and blue-green portion of the visible spectrum up to 500 nm, reducing the excessive sensitivity of color infrared films in this spectral range. This results in more evenly separated colors, thereby avoiding a blue tint. The filter factor for the #099 model depends upon the film's sensitivity.
In conclusion, the 55mm Infrared Filter #092 (89B/RG695) from B+W is a high-quality, durable, and effective tool for photographers seeking to explore the creative possibilities of infrared photography.
