I've used a number of alternatives but I always come back to Maha's charging system. I sometimes do shoots with up to four lights and a couple external battery packs. That's a bunch of batteries, even more if for some reason I'm using my Phottix Odin radio controls. I always have two Maha chargers, so I can charge 16 batteries at a shot. They never fail me.

My last one that I purchased in 2003 is still going strong so I believe this one will be just as good. Charges 8 batteries really fast and can be used to recondition older batteries also. This charger charges both AA and AAA from most manufactures. Duracell get a little warm though.

With three charging option, you can't go wrong. Condition battery to give it more life. Fast charge for when you are in a hurry. Slow charge when time is not of concern...still pretty fast. Now I have this one and the '800' model too. Both are great.

I bought this 8-cell charger to replace an excellent La Crosse 4-cell charger as my dive gear uses more than 4 cells at a go. The Maha is simple to operate and I like the choice between fast(1HR) and slow charging rates.

Unlike other battery charger, the Maha PowerEx charges each battery independently. Batteries are not over charged or under charged. If you use flashes, this is a must have.

All the above reviews are correct. It's a great charger and modern rechargeable lithium batteries are a big advance over alkalines. It took me a few tries to figure out how to insert AAA batteries, but once I figured out the little clip thingy it's no trouble at all.

I have lots of rechargeable batteries, mostly PowerEx in AA and AAA for my Nikon flashes, headlamps and various other devices and I want them to have the maximum charge possible. This charger does that and does it efficently. Most of my batteries are 2700 Mah batteries and I need them with as high a charge as possible to keep my flashes recycling as quickly as possible. I like having the 3 modes of charge: fast, soft and conditioning. One of the favorite features I enjoy about this charger is it's ability to charge batteries in single units, most chargers require you to have pairs of batteries to charge. All of my headlamps use 3 batteries so it was always a pain to have to wait until I had 4 batteries to charge, no more, with this charger I can charge 1 - 8 batteries at a time.

Having tried many different chargers before I decided to buy this one. Adorama did a great job delivering, packed nicely and on time. The charger chargers each cell individually and prevents over charging. Different then other chargers is that normally when one cell is full the charger will stop the charging process. With the Maha each cell is monitored separate so all cell will be really fully charged when indicated. I am a strobist and use a ton of AA batteries. I use the Sanyo Eneloop XXX and this charger does an amazing job!

I reconditioned all of my batteries before my most recent gig. I shot for 5 hours and was using my off camera flash at 1/16th output for most of the evening. I didnt have to change out my batteries. I was simply amazed!
