not as sharp as I'd like
wishing my images were a bit more crisp but not bad for the money.

Cant Beat This!
Both the 17-40mm and 50mm are outstanding lenses for beginners. 17-40mm give you quite a range for many landscape photos or if you're into fish lenses. Although it doesn't do very well in low light with only a 4 f-stop, it captures clear and crisp photos thanks to its L-Series Lens. The built quality is outstanding. Considering its an L-series lens, it is build with quality, making it sturdy.
The 50mm is only of the best lens to have. Its honestly a must have. Next to its younger brother; the "Nifty Fifty", the 50mm f/1.4 is exceptionally an elite lens. Its affordable and definitely worth what it give you. One bad thing, is the quality is provides. The 50mm f/1.4 are known to be dysfunctional after a minor drop if you're unlucky.
I would recommend this to newly amateur photographers who are looking to shoot landscapes and portraits .
