Used in very specific situations the results are simply outstanding. The specific conditions being daylight, decent contrast, and a stationary subject. Like an eagle in a tree a hundred+ yards away.

I bought it a year ago and I'm happy with it, great quality for a F11 lens.

I bought this lens just to try it out with my R6, and so far I like the pictures I am taking.

Great lens for the price. Just upgraded to an EOS R and this lens and I am impressed with the results I get. I am not a pro by any means, but I generally shoot wildlife. Should have upgraded months ago!

Have been using RF 600 F11 STM for past 6 months on my R6 , and ABSOLUTELY LOVE this Lens .. RF 600 Autofocus is Instantaneous .. Precise .. Quiet .. Images are Clean and Crisp with Excellent Color and Saturation .. I Actually PREFER this Lens to my EF 100 - 400 L on my 5d mk 4 .. and carry both systems when shooting wildlife .. ALWAYS go to the R6 with the RF 600 when distance and subject size allow .. I have enlargements in 20 x 30 size with this setup , and Images are Stunning. This lens can be Carried All day long .. Easily stored when Retracted .. and can be Handheld on stationary subjects at 1/320 second with CONFIDENCE on R6 / R5 body .. This lens is the Buy of the Century at this Price !

This is crisp and sharp and light enough to hand hold it. I added it to my camera gear in hopes of getting more photos of birds and other wildlife. It has opened up a genre of photography I did not even know I loved as much as I do!

Excellent lens to capture wildlife, it requires a lot of light, so use it from 9am to 4 pm

I <3 this lens, it is just about perfect for basic backyard birding and hiking. Ridiculously light for the range, I can shoot handheld basically all of the time. I worried that I should have got 800mm instead, but for me 600mm has worked well - long enough for birds I can see with the naked eye, no problems with shake, and I can focus on nearer birds too. The snap-in / snap-out action has become automatic. The f11 hasn't been much of an issue. On grey overcast days you do kinda need the birds to sit still to get a decent pic. On sunny days, no problem. This version came with a bunch of 3rd party lenses and cleaning thingabobs, which I'm sure will come in handy eventually.

Like the lens but the filters that were suppose to be for this lens were the wrong size. Filters are 86mm & lens is a 82mm. Since I normally keep a filter on my lens to protect them I am really bummed that I am not able to try a variety.

This lens is very niche and serves a specific purpose. That being said, taking pictures of moon, birds and other wildlife make this a must have. Idk why I never had a lens like this before.

I bought this lens for the occasional wildlife or celestial event event photography. I was amazed at how light it is, very easy to carry all day long. The AF was faster than I expected (I am using it with an R6. Images are sharp and have good contrast. I was able to shoot a good amount into dusk before things got too dark, so the fixed f/11 is really not an issue. I do think weather sealing is a necessity, however. This will be used outside, almost exclusively, so a lack of weather sealing is a bit concerning.

This lens is small and light with great image stabilization and is able to produce sharp photos without a tripod. I also have an old Canon EF 600mm f/4 L IS USM lens that is 12 pounds heavy and although it is sharper than the RF600mm f/11 IS STM I can only see the difference when inspecting a 100% crop side by side and the difference will not be noticeable in normal conditions.

I just got my rf 600 mm to use with my RP. I first took a hand held photo of the moon. I'm not good at this but I was impressed with how well it did. It's not heavy, seems sharp within its limits and is fun to use. For the price I am really enjoying this.

I purchased the RF600 F11 for birding., and I've now done a couple of excursions with it using my EOS R. Focus is reasonably fast, but I've found AF more useful than MF, in contrast to my 100-400 EF, where I often manually focus. Images are very sharp, and despite being F11, the depth of field is tight enough that backgrounds aren't a distraction. For birding, I was surprised at how often I'm able to get too close to the birds, given a minimum focus distance of around 15 feet. It's light, the fact that you need to extend and lock the lens not that inconvenient, and I had no shake at all during a day of shooting at 1/400 sec. I would judge the IS really works. The only catch, and it's a big one, is the F11. It means the camera will climb the ISO ladder as needed. Dark woods can be a challenge, open fields are not. Photos below include one cropped, one uncropped, from sequences shot at the same time. Handheld, EOS R.

I just bought this lens, and I have to say, I was a little skeptical because of the fixed f/11. I'm totally impressed with this lens.... This lens is totally amazing... It's EXTREMELY sharp, and I'm very picky about sharpness as I'm a pixel peep. It has really nice bokeh when putting distance behind your subject. I couldn't be more thrilled. Thanks, Canon, for such a wonderful lens!

The RF600mm F11 IS STM super-telephoto lens provides a long 600 millimeter focal length and is the first compact and lightweight 600mm super telephoto lens in the RF lineup
First Compact & Lightweight 600mm Super Telephoto RF Lens.
The RF600mm F11 IS STM Lens is the first 600mm super-telephoto in the RF lens lineup and is more portable than its EF counterparts in this category because of its design advantage. The 600mm range provides a far reach not only in distance to the subject, but also in terms of who can access it with its affordable price, smaller super-telephoto footprint, and lighter weight.
Excellent Portability Made Easier With An Extending/Retracting Locking Lens Barrel Design.
With a design that enables you to retract the lens barrel when not shooting, the lens is even more compact so it can more easily be stored or carried in a bag with additional lenses and accessories. When you’re ready to shoot, just unlock to extend the lens barrel, lock it in place for stability and capture your shots, then unlock, retract, and store again to easily move to your next destination.
Gapless Double-Layer Diffractive Optics (DO) Reduce Chromatic Aberration For High Image Quality.
The use of gapless dual-layered diffractive optical elements helps reduce chromatic aberrations so your images are clear and detailed for high-quality results all around. And because one DO lens has the optical characteristics of multiple lenses, this contributes to the light weight of the lens itself, as well.
High Image Quality At A Fixed f/11 Aperture.
Impressive results are always the goal and with the RF600mm lens and its use of diffractive optic elements, chromatic aberration can be significantly reduced to achieve clear images with minimal color fringing, even at a fixed aperture of F11. This means detailed results of landscapes and more, even from a distance.
Optical Image Stabilization With Up To 5 Stops* Of Shake Correction.
Steady and clear images aren’t always the easiest to come by, especially when shooting with a super-telephoto lens, but with the powerful image stabilization function in the RF600mm, you can feel far more confident it won’t be an issue. Whether shooting handheld or with a monopod, the built-in IS with up to 5 stops* of shake correction helps to significantly reduce camera shake to stabilize the image and get you the results you want and need.
Lead Screw-Type STM Enables Smooth Autofocusing For Still-Image & Video Shooting.
The use of a lead screw-type STM focus motor means smooth and quiet autofocus can be achieved whether you’re shooting stills or tracking a subject while shooting video. While it’s nice to be near-silent anyway, it’s especially important in instances where you’re trying to capture the flight of a wild bird or the relaxation of a wild animal. With the STM feature of the RF600mm, you can capture the scene while significantly reducing the chance of the subject being disturbed.
Control Ring For Direct Setting Changes.
Like all RF lenses before it, the RF600mm lens comes with a customizable and easily accessible control ring so you can change settings like shutter speed, aperture and ISO while still looking through the viewfinder.
12-Pin Communication System.
A 12 pin connection between your EOS R series camera and the lens means communication at a higher speed with larger amounts of data transfer, enabling incredibly fast Autofocus calculations, impressive image stabilization and even Control Ring adjustments.
Compatible With FLEX1.4/FLEX2 Extenders For 840mm/1200mm.
If 600mm isn’t far-reaching enough, the RF600mm lens is compatible with both the RF Extender 1.4x and RF Extender 2x to help get you even closer, up to 840mm with the 1.4x or 1200mm using the 2x. This added flexibility and versatility helps make the RF600mm an amazing option for your landscape, wildlife, sports photography and more.
