ΒΜ Consulting Marine has dealt with underwater photogrammetry since early 2021 for the specific tasks, such as modeling underwater structures, wrecks and vessel hulls. They used up to now larger observation ROVs and high-end photogrammetric cameras which are expensive, precalibrated. Tehy recently started implementing CHASING M2 PRO MAX underwater robot in order to become more efficient and provide cost-effective solutions to their clients.

Why do we need underwater Photogrammetry?

Underwater photogrammetry is an emerging field extends the scope of photogrammetry applications from air and land to underwater environments. This method can create accurate 3D models or 2D maps of large underwater areas to record and analyze ships, aircraft wrecks, bridge piers, historical sites, etc., providing significant value for industries such as environmental monitoring, infrastructure inspection, and archaeology.
