FAQ

What is the purpose of the different colored filters in the 1.25" Eyepiece Filter Set?

Each colored filter in the set is designed to enhance specific details on a planet's surface or its cloud structure. For example, the 80A Blue filter enhances the contrast of Jupiter's cloud belts and Saturn's polar ice caps, while the 21 Orange filter sharpens the boundaries along the plains of Mars and enhances detail in the belts and polar regions of Jupiter and Saturn.

Can I use these filters with any telescope eyepiece?

Yes, these filters can be used with any 1.25" eyepiece that has the appropriate filter threads. They are designed to be versatile and easy to use with a wide range of telescope eyepieces.

What is the purpose of the ND-96-0.3 Neutral Density filter in the set?

The ND-96-0.3 Neutral Density filter is ideal for viewing the Moon and for stacking with other planetary filters to increase density without changing the color. It's also useful when splitting binary star systems (double stars), or anytime you want to decrease brightness without affecting the color characteristics of an object.

How do I care for and store these filters?

Each filter in the Celestron 1.25" set has special coatings that protect against reflections, ghosting, and scratches. To store them, a protective plastic case is included to keep your filters safe when not in use.

Can I stack different filters together?

Yes, the filters are mounted in a black anodized aluminum cell that is threaded on both sides. This double threading feature allows you to stack different filters together to create a custom color or affect the transmission percentage.

High quality

The packaging of the filters is very good. The quality of the filters is excellent. Each filter has its functions although some of those functions overlap with other filters so I'm slowly figuring out what colors I think are best overall. Out of this set, the blue filter gives you the most difference in appearance. Note though, that I've been using my telescope in my backyard in the city. I'm very happy with this purchase and will continue to come to Adorama to make future purchases for my telescope.

About Celestron Filter Set #1

Because capturing the intricate details of celestial bodies is a must for any astronomy enthusiast, the 1.25" Eyepiece Filter Set, featuring Orange, Light Blue, Deep Yellow, and ND96 0.3 filters, is a crucial addition to your telescope accessories. These colored filters are expertly designed to enhance and bring out the subtle details on a planet's surface or its cloud structure, making your stargazing experience more vivid and detailed.

Compatible with any 1.25" eyepiece with the appropriate filter threads, these filters offer versatility and ease of use. Simply screw your chosen filter onto your preferred eyepiece and slide it into the focuser.

The set includes an 80A Blue filter, which is perfect for enhancing the contrast of Jupiter's cloud belts and Saturn's polar ice caps. It can also be used to increase contrast on the Moon, providing a unique viewing experience. The 21 Orange filter sharpens the boundaries along the plains of Mars by reducing blue/green transmissions, and enhances detail in the belts and polar regions of Jupiter and Saturn.

The 12 Deep Yellow filter is an excellent general-purpose filter, especially for smaller aperture telescopes (less than 4.5"). It improves the contrast of features on the Moon and helps you see the equatorial belts on Jupiter and Saturn, clouds and the polar ice caps on Mars, and the dusky detail on Uranus and Neptune.

The ND-96-0.3 Neutral Density filter is ideal for viewing the Moon and for stacking with other planetary filters to increase density without changing the color. It's also useful when splitting binary star systems (double stars), or anytime you want to decrease brightness without affecting the color characteristics of an object.

Each filter in this Celestron 1.25" set has a 26 mm clear aperture and is mounted in a black anodized aluminum cell that is threaded on both sides. This double threading feature allows you to stack different filters together to create a custom color or affect the transmission percentage. Special coatings on each filter protect against reflections, ghosting, and scratches, ensuring longevity and durability. A protective plastic case is included to keep your filters safe when not in use, making this set a comprehensive solution for your astronomy needs.
