Just bought two Bostails for my D300 and D3100. I also have a black rapid so I can easily compare the two. The BoStrap is better in the following ways. 1) Much less expensive. (39 vs 59) 2) Stronger strap 3) Does not interfere with the tripod/monopod attachment point. I currently have to disconnect my Black Rapid when I want to attach the camera to my Monopod which I also use as a walking stick. 4) Attaches to the cameras neck strap attachment point rather than the tripod attachment point. The neck strap point is attached to the camera frame which is much stronger than the tripod point. 5) Only need 1 Bostail per camera and one strap per person. With Black Rapid you need 1 strap per camera. 6) The strap itself is wide enough so that you don't need a shoulder pad. This means you don't need to continually adjust the pad. 7) The strap and tail is small/flat enough so that it can be stored by wrapping it around the attached lens. (With a Black Rapid the sprap padding is bulky and does not allow this to be easily done. 8) If you already own a strap that you like but do not feel confortable with attaching at the tripod point, you can just buy the BosTail adaptors for each of you cameras. (this is what I did). Neither Canon or Nikon recommend attaching a sling support to the tripod attachment point. The Black Rapid is better in the following ways. 1) The clasp has a more positive locking mechanism to prevent someone from quickly grabbing and releasing the clasp. Neither clasp is at risk of releasing by themselves. 2) I have never had a strap failure with my Black Rapid while carrying a D300 with an attached 70-200mm lens. (1 year)

WHAT A GREAT PRODUCT! While looking for a neck strap alternative for my two heavy DSLRs, I looked at many products on the market and tried out some owned by friends. Nothing even comes close to the BosStrap shoulder strap for comfort, ease of use and practicality. The Bos Tail attachment is easily installed on the left side of the camera and then attached to the main strap by the chrome buckle allowing the camera to hang at the perfect position to fit your hand and raise the DSLR for either horizontal or vertical shooting. And the real "biggie" as far as I am concerned is that unlike most of its competitors that attach the shoulder straps through the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera, thereby requiring its removal prior to tripod attachment, my camera with the BosStrap still attached just slides into my ballhead. When I was shooting in Yellowstone Park this past June, I simply pulled on the strap and left it on my shoulder all day. It fits so comfortably, I would forget I was wearing it. When stopping to take shots with either my Canon 5D or Canon 7D, I just quickly snapped the strap onto the Bos Tail, got out, took my shots and then detached it when I re-entered he vehicle. I typically shoot with a wide angle mounted on the full sensor 5D and a rather heavy 100-400 zoom on the 7D for wildlife shots. Being able to switch cameras easily with the quick release buckle made using either camera a no brainer. The BosStrap system is he best engineered, easiest to use, comfortable camera shoulder strap on the market. If you shoot more that one camera, then I suggest buying the available second Bos Tail when you order.

As a Photojournalist there are times I need my hands free to write notes, greet people and so on,using a regular neck strap got to be pain, especially when you bend down to get something out of my backpack. even if I took the camera off and put it on mt shoulder. This strap lets me put my camera(s) out of the way and yet it is very easy to grab my camera and take my photos. One other plus like the directions say you can just wrap the strap around the lens ans stow it in your bag, I find this very convienent and keeps my photo gear neat.

This strap is simple but ingenious. I can wear it all day, while carry my 7d on my Manfrotto monopod, and feel almost like I am not carrying anything. When I want to take a shot, I just reach for the camera, swing it up to my eye and take the shot....... All one has to do, is keep your hand close to the camera to keep it from swinging. Most of the time I don't even do that. When I don't carry my monopod, I use the Bos strap as a stabilizer. As I bring the camera up to my eye, I position my arm inside the strap to add tension and increase control. I am so glad I found this. Buy one. You will thank me later..............

I use it on my D200 whenever I go out shooting with my tripod. It is very convenience to put my camera on the tripod head with the Quick-release plate staying attach to the camera!

BosStrapTM Camera Sling System Made in the USA...
The two-piece BosStrapTM Camera Sling System incorporates unique engineering in camera support systems. The two-piece System includes the BosStrap with a nickel plated, swivel TriggerLocTM fitting, and a BosTailTM with an attached metal ring. The BosStrap adjusts to your size with an acetal Ladderloc.
A convenient triglide neatly secures any excess strap length. The BosTail remainsattached to the camera body. It connects to the BosStrap using a secure TriggerLoc release that glides along the strap. The BosStrap separates from the BosTail by intentionally releasing the spring loaded TriggerLoc.
Visually BosStrap stands out because its 1-1/2" wide smooth strap eliminates the need for cumbersome and roaming shoulder pad. The gear-laden photographer has all-day comfort without neck strain. In use the camera glides along the BosStrap to eyelevel; at rest the camera sits safely and inconspicuously at yourhip. Inevitable small strap movements make no difference to its comfort or operation.
The BosTail remains out of the way in horizontal and vertical shooting positions. Because the BosTail attaches to the left camera strap lug, the tripod socket is always available. Moving between hand-held shooting and a tripod is a breeze. Professional photographers, who tested the BosStrap CameraSling System under studio and field conditions, give it exceptionally high reviews.
