DCD800NE CD Player

Nice CD player, works good and great sound. I had a Denon CD Player before and was very happy with it so I expect to be happy with this one.

Like a kid with his first expensive toy....

Honestly, I'm not been paid for my review on the DCD-800NE cd player, just want to put it clear, ok, this DCD-800NE cd player it's my 3rd cd player since cd's are become available, my first cd player was a Fisher cd player, i forgot the model number, but it was an ok cd player, on those days i just needed a cd player to listen to my cd's and this one was on sale so i got it, I'm still got it somewhere in the garage, reason i put it away is because by time new technology arrived for cd players, so i went to the stereo store ( The good guy's ) that was the name now gone, anyway i got me a Yamaha's cd player and recorder on sale also, this cd player was lot better and i mean a lot better then my old Fisher cd player, this Yamaha cd player lasted for many years, i was very happy with it, the sound was very clear and recording cd's was very easy, but i used to use it to much so it started to jump tracks from the cd that i played, this cd player was far the best cd player i ever had, so it's in the garage now along with my other Fisher cd player, so i went to the stereo store and i took a cd disc with me to try in case that i find a cd player that could beat the Yamaha cd player, and guess what i found the Denon DCD-NE pluged and ready, i inserted my cd disc in it turn it on and started to listen grand funk railroad live album, i cranked the volume just a bit and some guys came to hear the music from Granf Funk Railroad, the sound was if not the same as my Yamaha but better a lot better than my old Yamaha cd player, i was convinced that i found what i needed according to my budget, $ 599.99 plus tax i payed, and i know there is some more expensive cd players out there but why pay more money for an item that will give you same sound, you can go for a higher cd player price, it's up to you but for me who knows his music, im very very satisfied with Denon DCD-800NE cd player, yes folks 600.00 dlls are a lot of money for a cd player but if you like music and you like to hear it the way it become from the original masters well i recomend you this one DCD-800NE cd player, pleasure is around the corner if you can afford it, i did so can you. Thanks.

The cd player has a rich pure sound with my stereo. The old cd player did not sound like that.

Best CD player I have ever used!

I had an old Onkyo disc changer but this Denon is so much better. It has a crisp, clear sound and makes me want to listen to my CDs more and more. I have some old, scratched CDs but it reads them as if they were brand new. Great Player. Good Job Denon!

Stop working after 4 months

I purchased this Denon after I heard the rave review of the lower model of Denon CD player by Steve Guttenberg. I bought this to replace my Marantz top of the line CD player that cannot be fixed anymore, too old, they do not carry the laser. The sound is not good, sounds like a cheap CD player. But, this can be corrected by using a good DAC. Unfortunately, however, the CD player stops working only after 4 months. I sent an email to Denon asking where I can fix this. But, Denon never reply. May be from this I can get the info. I had throw away the warranty card, by the way, because I thought there is no way that a CD player will be dead in a year.

Great sound, but lousy user interface

When my 35-year-old Denon DCD-810 expired, I did not hesitate to order its successor. Alas, no convenient Denon dealer is nearby , so I ordered from B&H. Good news: The sound is excellent, remarkably better than that from my DCD-810. Bad news: The user interface is much worse than the DCD-810's. The old machine had decent-sized, clearly labelled buttons, and one could tell at a glance how many tracks the disk had, which track was playing, and the amount of time remaining on the track and on the disk. One could also jump easily to a specific track. The 800-NE has tiny buttons labelled with grey symbols, the display tells the number of tracks and time remaining only before one pushes play; after that, it shows only the track number and the time remaining on the ONE track. There is no way to jump to a specific track. It's disappointing that Denon could have been so stupid.

Vibration-resistant Design for Pristine Sound
Vibration-resistant design reduces the adverse audio effects of heavy components within amplifiers so that sound quality meets Denon standards. Power transformers are fitted near the bottom of DCD-800NE and immediately above the insulators to prevent unwanted vibration. By lowering the transformer, the vibration surrounding the chassis is reduced, resulting in pristine sound.

DAC Master Clock Design
To accurately synchronize digital circuits, the DCD-800NE is built with a DAC Master Clock design that treats the DAC as the master when clock signals are supplied. Crafted with exceptional quality, the master clock is immediately adjacent to the DAC, which suppresses jitter and ensures optimal precision in D/A conversion. It serves as the reference for semiconductor operation and optimizes digital audio circuitry.

Advanced Circuitry with Minimized Signal Paths
The circuit patterns in the DCD-800NE are thoughtfully engineered to make signal paths as short as possible. With shorter circuits, the interference between circuits and left and right channels is reduced and the adverse influences on audio signals are minimized. As a result, the circuit paths in the DCD-800NE reproduces sound that's clean, highly transparent and faithful to the original recording.

Pure Direct Mode
Listen with Pure Direct Mode on the DCD-800NE. Pure Direct Mode feeds sound directly to the amplifiers, bypassing any processing that might otherwise color the signal. What you hear is clean, detailed, accurate sound.

Optical and Coaxial Digital Output
The DCD-800NE features one Optical and one Coaxial digital output to connect to the digital input of an amplifier or AV receiver.
