Recently Manufactured, All the Features I Need

This unit has all the features I need, including the digital optical inputs, compact size, great sound. This is not a main unit in our household, but rather in a casita with an art studio and guest lodging. It is perfect, and we use other outboard units to digitally network this into networked music server.

Impressed

I have had this little gem in a rather large living room. One should not believe it would work, but it does. I upgraded with Dali Oberon 5 speakers at it worked too! I didn't believe it would. I mostly play jazz with low to medium volume, therefore maybe. If I play rock music, it struggle. So I think of an upgrade, and wonder: What is the main difference between Ceol N10 and N12? 5W? Both can have my Denon DP400 record player connected, I guess.

Incredibly Ridiculous Flaw

This would be a great system but for one fatal flaw. It automatically turns itself on and connects to any paired bluetooth device, even after disconnected and shut down. Surprise! You just woke up to a deafening smartphone notification in the middle of the night because the D-M41 decided to reconnect and play any sound coming over the phone. Or my laptop. I have to unpair when not listening to the system to avoid this stupid bug. Tech Support was worthless. When I turn off equipment of any sort, I want it to stay off until I turn it back on.

Disappointed

Although right-sized and good-looking, the speakers are not as high quality as I expected. Will be returning.

Nice clear sound

Nice clear sound, with good bass. Very good for such a compact set and reasonable price. Front panel controls are difficult to see and difficult to use. It's annoying that many controls are only on the remote, and difficult to use even there. Fortunately, little adjustment is needed.

BEWARE: No Bluetooth w/ Macbook Pro

I bought this device to replace a much older Denon stand-alone CD player/receiver that quit after many years of good service. What attracted me to this model was its built-in Bluetooth function, so I could stream my iTunes from my laptop directly to the DM41 and on to the speakers. BUT...Macbook Pro is not supported for this purpose. Something about Macbook Pro not being compatible with A2DP profile (whatever that means). Bottom line: I just bought a pretty expensive CD player. I guess I?ll need to get a bluetooth speaker so I can listen to my iTunes library.

Great little system

This is a wonderful CD and radio system. It has powerful, quality sound even though it?s small. It is very easy to attach speakers and to operate. I am so happy I bought it.

Good sound, like to find a subwoofer

Good sound, like to find a subwoofer to match the system, unable to use a wireless sub. Any suggestions?

Excellent sound...but

The sound on this thing is amazing! But the amount of issues I've had with CDs not playing or skipping is unfathomable. Many brand new CD's either don't play or constantly skip and pause. I would say 1/3 of new CD's simply are "Unsupported". Buyer beware.

CD player is poor

The CD player on this unit failed within three months. My discs are immaculate and I have the unit connected to a quality surge protector. The repaired unit had a new CD player installed, and within a year this unit failed. If Denon indicated that it is a fluke defect, please heed this review. DO NOT PURCHASE.

CD Player is garbage

Purchased it to listen to my CD music collection, and although the sound quality is very good, the CD player isn't. It has difficulties to recognize some titles, and the tray gets stuck everytime I close it since the first year. Quite deceived with it. The screen, also, is of very poor quality. When you wake it up from stand by, it's difficult to read the characters it shows, but it improves if you leave it with power one for a while.

Very Happy

I am very impressed with the sound quality from this small of a setup. I have been using a multi component Sony set up for 20 plus years. It still sounds great, but was big and "ugly", as my wife put it.I had some minor issues with this Denon unit. The bluetooth connection was not working properly with my pc for Itunes library listening. That's all been figured out now and I'm very happy with my new stereo. Again,I am very impressed with the sound quality from this small of a setup. I would definitely recommend this to someone.

Bluetooth crap out

After 15 months, the Bluetooth function stopped working. (In the middle of playing) It appears discoverable from two different devices, but will not connect.

DM41DAB or DM41SBK??

I am having difficulty finding a U.S. retailer that sells the DM41DAB. I have found the DM41SBK in various stores. Does anyone know what the difference is between these two models? And is the DAB no longer being made/sold in the U.S.? I am in the NYC area.

Wonderful Sound - But!

The 41 is a marvelous system, but I feel that it has a relatively short life for playing classical CDs. After a year, I had the dread "unsupported" error. Then I used a CD cleaner (one of several. For year 2, once a month was sufficient using a cleaner. For year 3, every day or every other day was necessary. I worked out that some labels played better than others, but all the same, I'm about ready to buy another system. Before this, I had the 39 or 40 (I forget which), which also lasted 3 years. I'm about ready to buy a T-D1, but how I wish the system would last longer.

Fantastic warm sound

I wanted to downsize, so sold all my monstrous 5.1 home theatre system. I was worried I would miss listening to great music again. But after looking at online reviews, I ordered this system and I am so surprised how a small system could sound this great. I am very happy and the foot print is so insignificant.

I'm so thrilled to play my CDs in that system every time. It sounds great, lots of bass response, great fidelity and huge sound. The bluetooth also works great with my Android and sounds superb.

High quality sound, small package

I've owned Denon previously, and was not at all disappointed once again. Great clarity, and found the SBD SUB button, and that added so much bass. Plus it has a connection for a sub if that's not enough. Very pleased overall with it's sound and quality.

Poor Bluethooth codecs support

The description of the unit does not specify the bluetooth codecs support or lack of it,(and none of the "professonal"reviews mention this)only ABC@328 kbps/AAC@250 .The CD only reads WAV&MP3 ,so where is the HIFI?Terrific sounding speakers for sure but@328 kbps takes away the so called HIFI .I was hoping for a firmware update but without WIFI or USB ? Maybe future models could be updated. At least it plays CD ok

Fantastic

Sounds great. I'd recommend a powered subwoofer to get a fuller sound. Mine is in a 13' by 13.5' room. More than enough sound. It'll give a full sized stereo a run for its money easily. For a small or mid size room though. Best system I've had.

Building on the multi-award winning D-M40, the new D-M41 features improved sound, style and facilities. The newly-developed discrete analogue amplifier circuit reduces signal paths for greater clarity and impact, while the new Bluetooth implementation combines convenience with an off switch to reduce its influence on the sound of other sources when not in use. Meanwhile the new cosmetic design echoes that of Denon's flagship 'NE' separates. The RCD-M41 center unit also has two digital optical inputs to hook up a TV, set-top box or other digital gear that deserves improved audio quality and has built-in CD plus FM/AM radio, with the new SC-M41 speaker system to complement the CD receiver's performance.

High power output with newly designed full discrete analog amplifier circuit
Denon's engineers have completely rethought the design, from the styling and facilities right through to the audio circuitry, to offer even more performance and value. The new amplifier circuit delivers 2x30W, so the RCD-M41 has more than enough power to drive either the matching SC-M41 speakers or other popular choices and there's also a dedicated headphone amplifier section for personal listening.

Bluetooth for instant wireless streaming from smartphones and tablets
Bluetooth is integrated to allow instant wireless connectivity with smartphones, tablets and computers, as part of a package of input choices designed to offer optimal flexibility. The Bluetooth circuitry has been designed complete with an on/off selector, offering convenient wireless connection when required, plus enhanced sound from the other sources like CD, FM or digital in when it's not in use.

Simple & Straight circuit design for sound purity
Denon's popular M series gives you high sound quality based on the "simple & straight" concept. Circuitry is uncomplicated, signal paths are short and all adverse influences on sound quality have been minimized. The circuit design and the way the chassis is built ensure that the sound you hear is utterly faithful to the original performance.

Triple Noise Reduction Design to preserve signal purity
In an audio component where various circuits, boards and wire layouts can influence each other, it is not possible to obtain satisfying specifications or sound simply by strengthening the power amp circuit. Denon has therefore eliminated three sources of noise to ensure that the sound is as clean as possible. Distortion from the input selector, electronic volume and power amp has been suppressed to improve the signal-to-noise ratio and produce an even smoother, dramatic sound.

Enjoy premium sound in your home office, bedroom or any other room
The compact size of 210mm width and just 310mm depth (plus speakers) allows for an easy setup of the D-M41 on a bookshelf, in a bedroom or in the home office. With several color combinations, it easily blends into your lifestyle, delivering impeccable performance at the same time.

Best matching Denon SC-M41 speaker system
These speakers have been designed with Denon Hi-Fi craftsmanship. For best performance, a high quality 12 cm woofer / midrange chassis has been combined with a high definition tweeter and a crossover network with selected components to reproduces the smoothness of natural sound.
