The Hewes film developing reel is one of the best on the market, and its quality is far above competitors. Because of its solid construction, it makes loading 120 film easy, which is why I've used it for many years teaching black and white photography at the college level.

These stainless steel reels are way more robust than the cheap plastic options. Definitely worth the price.

For 35mm I find the plastic reels are ok. But for 120, this is the reel to use. I've tried other metal reels that are way too hard to use. This thing catches the film just right and makes loading the film quick and painless. Its pricey, but worth every penny.

Wow! Great product... I could load 2 rolls on two reels within 8 minutes in the dark! Sometimes it would take 20+ minutes with the awful plastic ones I had that were adjustable for 35mm, and 120 film. I primarily work with 120 film now, and these are worth the money 100% if you develope your own film on a regular basis. I'm a happy photographer now!

Bought this as a reel for my daughter's first foray into film developing and even she was amazed at the ease with which she was able to load the film in the dark!

The 120 size developing reel loads film in a slightly different manner than conventional medium format products. The rest is easy with consistent results.

The spring clip on this reel holds the film snug, which is a plus given that this type of film lacks sprocket holes. The reel itself is durable and strong and much easier to clean than the cheap plastic ones.
