Under the spotlight of live performances and broadcasting studios, the d:facto 4018V Softboost Supercardioid Microphone with WI2 Wireless Adapter (Wisycom) in sleek black, stands out as a versatile and high-quality audio equipment. This microphone, part of the renowned d:facto series, is designed to deliver true studio sound, capturing every nuance of the human voice with extraordinary naturalness and consistency.
The d:facto 4018V microphone is available in two versions, one offering extreme linearity and the other featuring a high-end boost. This high-end boost variant, the 4018V, is often preferred in broadcasting settings due to its ability to 'cut through' and deliver clear audio even on television speakers with limited audio quality.
One of the key features of this microphone is its modular design. The ability to switch the capsule and the adapter makes the d:facto series one of the most flexible vocal microphones on the market. This flexibility extends to its compatibility with most professional wireless systems, thanks to its innovative adapter system.
Engineered specifically for vocal performances, the d:facto 4018V microphone holds a supercardioid capsule. This capsule is designed to reproduce the human voice with high separation, extreme SPL handling, and low handling noise. Its supercardioid polar pattern offers the best of both cardioid and supercardioid patterns, providing excellent isolation and handling of loud vocals with a three-step pop-protection grid.
The d:facto 4018V microphone also excels in live performance scenarios, whether in an intimate club setting or a large concert hall. It offers high side- and rear rejection with a minimum of 9 dB attenuation to the sides, ensuring clear and focused sound capture. Its wider acceptance angle at the front of the mic, identical to a first-order cardioid at +/-60 degrees off-center, results in the same work field as a cardioid but with superior side and rear damping.
When choosing the d:facto 4018V microphone, you can opt for a version with a pre-programmed high-end boost, offering a 3 dB soft boost at 12 kHz. Regardless of the version, these microphones are designed to capture electrifying live performances and accurately replicate a singer's voice with thrilling consistency. They are optimized for use in sound reinforcement as well as recording applications, offering natural sound, high separation from nearby sound sources, and SPL handling up to 160 dB.
The d:facto 4018V microphone is a supercardioid microphone, which means it is most sensitive to sound coming in at the front and least sensitive at the back. This narrow angle of sensitivity makes it an ideal choice for live stage performances and spoken-word events, where focused sound capture is essential. However, it's important to note that supercardioid mics are more sensitive to wind, pop, and handling noises than omni mics, so precautions should be taken to guard against this.
The wireless feature of the d:facto 4018V microphone adds to its versatility. You can easily switch to a wireless adapter at a fraction of the cost of a new microphone, without any loss or change in sound quality. This microphone is compatible with leading wireless mic solutions, such as Sennheiser, Shure, Sony, Wisycom, Lectrosonics, and Line6, making it a smart investment for your audio needs.
