Great scope for the money. CA is visible on very bright objects, otherwise not at all. I keep a semi-apo filter in the diagonal when looking at a fuller moon or bright stars. Compared to an ES APO triplet, side by side, there is no discernable difference with low to mid power sweeps between them. It is quite good (for a refractor) for deep sky, as the 5 inches of aperture easily show the brighter nebulae and galaxies.

Too much chromatic aberration. What did I expect? To be more descriptive ... I only looked at Jupiter. There was a purple glow around the planet ... as large as the planet. The detail on the planet surface was excellent ...and on par with my skywatcher 120ED, but the aberration was just too annoying. This is a good looking scope and the quality is nice, except for the focuser which is terrible. Even the lock screws couldn't keep the fine focus from slipping.

Achromatic Refractor
The classic air-spaced, crown-and-flint, doublet achromatic refractor is reborn with the aim to produce superior-class optical figure in a short (f/6.5) focal length design with Explore Scientific Air-Spaced Doublet AR Series. You will be impressed by the stunning images revealed to you at the eyepiece and all at a small fraction of the price you'd pay for a comparably sized apochromat refractor.
Designed to handle the rigors of public star parties and educational outreach, the Explore Scientific AR Series telescopes come with heavy-duty, high quality components, including a 2" dual-speed Crayford-style focuser, a one-piece 2" diagonal with 99% dielectric coatings, an 8 x 50 non-illuminated straight-through finderscope and quick release bracket and a cradle ring assembly with Vixen-style dovetail mount. Just add a few eyepieces and the alt-azimuth or equatorial mount of your choice (all available separately) and you'll be ready to discover the Universe!
