At first, I was in love. The Yeti 1400 stood tall on my camping trips, humming quietly while charging phones, fridges, dreams. But then... it got moody. It started ghosting me - literally. One day it worked, the next it just blinked at me and shut down. Like an emotionally unavailable ex, it would randomly come back to life, whisper "three high-pitched beeps", and then go dark again. I tried everything: soft resets, unplugging cables, motivational speeches. Nothing helped. Eventually, it became clear: this power station had trust issues. You never know when it's working, and just when you think it's fine - bam - dead screen, no output, and 12.4V of pure disappointment. If you're into unreliable relationships with your gear, this is the soulmate for you. Unfortunately, it turned out that GoalZero support behaves in the same fashion.

Overall very impressed with the Yeti 1400 product. Clean design, easy to use, high quality product with ample connection opportunities for various electrical plugs. Only drawback is that the display buttons seem to have a flaw in the design and break easily. Unfortunately, the buttons cannot be fixed without returning the entire battery unit. That said, customer support has been kind, responsive, and extremely helpful in navigating the exchange for a new battery. Hopefully the display buttons will be a little less delicate / fixable in future design iterations.

I hooked up my garage refrigerator to my new yeti 1400 and it work great. The refrigerator only pulled a few watts even on highest settings with the doors open. I had to add a toaster to it to pull more watts ( the toaster pulled a lot I only lost 1 watt . I then hooked the Boulder 100 to it and I drawer about 58 watts. In theory I could run my garage refrigerator indefinitely because I was pulling in more watts than using without a drop of fuel. GREAT product more expensive but it plug and go. Worth it.

I love GZ and most of your products. I have had the 1250 since they first came out. I have 2 of them now. These new lithium ones, which I purchased the 400, 1000, 1400 and the 3000, do not live up to your advertising and what you say on the box they will do. I actually like the 400. It's going to be OK. But, the 1000 and the 1400 were carried back to Costco since they do NOT run what you claim. I will have to keep the 3000, but it's only for tailgating. What a waste of money that was! I tried all my friends refrigerators and not one of them will run on any of the Li units. No microwave will run. There is no way in an emergency you could keep your major things operational. We can run all the small devices, but only the 1250 can keep a home running. I will go buy a 3rd 1250. Do your homework. These products are not Goal Zero's best by far. Higher loads on the Li batteries discharge the units rapidly. They can't hold a candle to the 1250. Keep making the 1250, GZ, they are the best you have. The recycles are only 500 and the 1250 is 1000 go figure.

Purchased post-Irma. Performed my own tests to prepare for the next storm. Plugged in my 22 cu ft energy star refrigerator. It gave me almost 23 hours, with normal use of the fridge. It provided 90% of the 1400 W-H. I found the display very useful. Charged it back up, and then sequentially tested small appliances. Most importantly, I can brew my morning coffee, use a floor fan for sleeping, and use an LED lamp for reading for almost 3 days.

Inability to charge from 12v dc source makes this almost worthless to overland community. Competitors were able to do it... why not GZ?!

Just a warning, this unit is not silent like the 1250. Its quite but has 4 fans that kick on when using the a/c output. Cant say its false advertising but there is a lack of information about that on this page. Several other lithium solar generators on the market for years and I expected the wait for goal zero's to come with true silent operation. I also have a 1250 and a Enerplex Y1200(same features and portability but at a fraction of the price)

I bought the Yeti 1250 and it works great. I also bought the Yeti 1400 just last month and I think it will work well for my needs. I really like the fact that Goal Zero also provided a Lithium unit. Very smart. I would recommend either to anyone.

I've had the Yeti 1400 for a few months now. I went on a bunch of camping trips with it to power a thermoelectric cooler, microwave oven, laptops, cell phone, battery packs, cordless vacuum cleaner and a USB fan. It has worked out great! This unit allows up to 520 Watts total of electrical input (up to 360W through the Anderson Pole (AP) port and up to 160W through the 8mm ports). I have 6x Boulder 100 Briefcase solar panels hooked up to it.....4 panels hooked up through the AP port using the 4x 8mm Combiner to Anderson Connector and 2 panels hooked up through the two 8mm ports. Great for quickly recharging the battery and/or for powering some devices off solar alone. Also great for getting as much power as possible on those cloudy, overcast days when the light is not as bright. My only complaint would be the fact that they went with a PWM solar controller. It should have come with a MPPT solar controller like the Yeti 1250 has. Having an MPPT controller would allow much more potential power to come from my solar panels (for faster charging) than PWM allows. I know they did it to help keep the price of the Yeti 1400 as low as possible, but in this day and age MMPT controllers should be standard....especially on their flagship solar power stations. It's because of this.... and ONLY this..... that I'm giving it 4 stars. Otherwise it would be 5 stars. Goal Zero has said that by the end of the year they will make an MPPT solar controller available for the Yeti 1400 as an expansion module to plug into the expansion port. I will be getting it for sure!

While I intend on using the Yeti 1400 for a myriad of small electronics, I'm currently using it to power my office equipment. Laptop, 20" monitor, 10key calculator, and skype phone. It works great. I was surprised that it charged so quickly from the wall when I first got it. I'll have to update my review once I get my 100 watt solar panel hooked up. It's a Renogy panel and I didn't realize I needed an adapter. Instruction booklet is short and an easy read. I would like to purchase another yeti 1400 down the road once the cable is made to make them chainable. I recommend it and would get the goal zero panel for easy solar set up.

Nice well thought out unit. Appears to be solid, and well built. Especially to be made in China. The charger that comes with it if very low wattage. Puts in like 67 watts. Takes forever and a day to charge. The solar inputs are weak. The 8mm connection can't take alot of amps coming in. Solar panel wiring is only 16 ga. Keep that in mind if your planning on long runs. I have 2 boulder 100 suitcase panels, and I can feel heat, not excessive, but still warmth on the solar input connection. Utilizing the Power Pole connections is a must if you want to put in max wattage for charging. But other than that the unit is awesome.

I bought this about a month ago. I already own the Yeti150 and Yeti400, but neither really can get you through an extended outage, but this sure can. I got a few HQST, Renogy and Grape Solar panels on Amazon (the Goal Zero panels are ridiculously overpriced), so with 400+ watts to help recharge, even in the rain this can manage. I was able to use it (for fun really, just to test) with a 900 watt leaf blower and the Yeti performed perfectly. We live in the mountains and outages are frequent enough, and I have no interest at all in noisy, smelly gas generators. The Yeti1400 is definitely very pricey but it also loaded with pretty awesome features.

Used this to replace an Anker Powerhouse. This has the following advantages: * Significantly larger capacity (and corresponding weight) * Integrated solar charge controller (PWM) * Availability of car charger * Integrated storage compartment with wiring allowances and storage of A/C charger as well as other cords/chargers * Replaceable battery Cons: * Integrated solar controller is not MPPT. * No input is indicated when using a Goal Zero car charger, however it does charge the unit fully. * Inconsistent input recognition with 100w solar panel plugged in, both in full and partial lighting conditions * No USB-C charging ports, and no good way to charge a 2016 MacBook Pro except via an Apple A/C adapter which is not the most efficient use of D/C power (RÅVpower USB-C car charger does not provide significant power, and thus takes many hours to charge a laptop) This unit has proven easier to keep charged than anticipated via the car charger and MC4 adapter with a 100W solar panel - I probably should have opted for the smaller Yeti Lithium 400, but am very happy to know that I have 2-4 weeks of reserve power no matter what, even if it overkill for my everyday needs. For supplying all power needs for daily life living out of a car, this definitely suffices. I've managed to drain it down to about 50% when recharging everything I owned from nearly dead, but most days this baby stays above 90%. Charging two iPad Pros, two iPhones, two Apple Watches, 3x RAVpower 26800mAh batteries, an Anker Powerhouse, an Oral-B electric toothbruush, a back massager, 12x 18650 batteries and their 6 corresponding devices, two Kindles, a car battery maintainer, a water kettle, and whatever else...

Superior customer service and amazing innovation that I believe in. I will be giving them another chance if all goes well with the replacement. For a unit this expensive I expect some quality control processes AS IN making sure a unit turns on first. I hope to be able to change this review.

Charging
There Are 2 Ways To Charge Your Goal Zero Yeti 1400 Lithium
The Sun
The Goal Zero Yeti 1400 Lithium can be charged by connecting a compatible solar panel. If you are a standard or light user and use about 30-40% of the power per day we recommend 1 Boulder 100 Solar Panel. If you are a heavy user using all the power in one day, we recommend using 6 Boulder 100 Solar Panels to recharge.

Plug in your device just as you would the wall. There are two AC Outlets (pure-sine wave, 1500W, 3000W surge)
What To Power From The Goal Zero Yeti 1400 Lithium
Smartphones, Lights, Camera Equipment, Tablets,12V Appliances, Laptops, CPAP, Display Monitors, Blenders, Speakers, Drills, Grills/Smokers, Power Tools, TV/Electronics, Fridges, etc.
How Long Will It Take To Charge Your Device From Goal Zero Power Packs?
It takes the same amount of time to charge your device from a Goal Zero power pack as it does from the wall.
Best-Use Strategy
When charging gear with the Yeti 1400 Lithium, take note of the LCD Battery Display. If you plug in devices that have a high power requirement (a large refrigerator), the charge level of the Yeti can drop very quickly and you may not get exactly 1400Wh of energy. Also, especially when using the AC power output, the Goal Zero Yeti will be converting the energy from the DC power of the battery to the AC power needed by your device. Although your Goal Zero Yeti has a highly efficient inverter, there is still some energy lost in the conversion and you will not get the full rated capacity of the battery.
Cold Weather Usage
Cold temperatures (below freezing) can impact the Yeti's battery capacity. If you'll be living off-grid in sub-zero conditions, we recommend keeping your Yeti 1400 Lithium in an insulated cooler, connected to a power source (solar panels) and charging your gear. The natural heat generated by the Yeti 1400 Lithium contained in an insulated cooler will keep battery capacity at its highest.
Storage and Downtime Maintenance
Having your Yeti 1400 Lithium connected to a power source, like a solar panel or wall outlet, between adventures or while in storage keeps its battery healthy and topped off. This prolongs battery life and will ensure your Yeti 1400 Lithium is charged and ready to go all day, every day.
If you can't keep the Yeti 1400 Lithium plugged into a power source during storage, fully-charge your Yeti 1400 Lithium every 10-12 months and store in a cool, dry place. Failure to maintain the Yeti 1400 Lithium by following these steps can result in battery damage which will void the product warranty.
