An underrated LED light. Powerful but pretty quiet. No, the power pack design is not particularly convenient (it is similar to the original aputure lightstorm lights where the power pack hangs on the lightstand), but it is affordable, has good light output, quiet, and takes bowens-mount modifiers, plus it comes with a decent carrying case. There is one weird "quirk" that bothers me a little bit, and that is if you want to put a HEAVY modifier on the front, like a large softbox, you should spin the light around in its yoke. Right now, the weight of a heavy modifier will make the ratchet LOOSEN as gravity pulls it down. If you spin the light around (so it is technically upside down), then the weight of a heavy modifier will help to TIGHTEN the ratchet. Yes, a bit inconvenient, but again, not a deal breaker.

Works great as expected! Very good for conducting interviews and strong enough to replicate moonlight from outside a window.

I use this light in a studio alongside a couple Aputure LS300X and it's noticeably brighter than the Aputures. I believe it's due to the LED COB design. Although the design of the power supply is not as elegant as the Aputure, I find it to be a better overall value.

So far my only complaint is that the light is too bright! I've been filming inside night shots and even turned all the way to 1% and through a softbox, it still was fairly bright. It was great as a sun replacement for other shots and has lots of punch! I can see using it for interviews since the fan is quiet enough. The app didn't seem to work on the other hand it's a fairly bare bones lite in terms of bells and whistles. After using I would guess that the bi color is bright enough for a lot of uses even if it's 1/2 as bright.

If the rugged build and quality of the incremental light wasn?t amazing enough, the cooling fans are super quiet for use in tight spaces. I?d highly recommend Godox products.

Frequent use for the past 3 years so far with no issues. It just works. Wait for this to go on sale and buy! Save money buying this on sale instead of the aputure 300d. It's a no brainer.

I love this light! Finally, I have enough light in my studio. It takes this much to really get good light on the talent about 5-6 ft from the light. Build quality is pretty good. Not as rugged as pro kits at 2x the price - but entirely good at the price point. One complaint: the remote switch only works at 25% and higher! There is NO control from 1 to 24% of the light. One other note if you buy the Godox parabolic soft box. This is NOT for taking out in the field each day and setting it up and taking it down. Its way difficult to do that and look cool. The metal rods are very strong and its is a hassle to set it up. So, with this simple model I recommend set it up and leave it in your studio. If you need to take it to the field - buy a parabolic softbox that costs more and is designed to set up and take down easily.

Great light. The reason I switched from Apurture to Godox.

Great light! Got it on sale and it was too good of a deal to pass up. It's my go to light for interviewing talent. Got a cheap Softbox to go with it and the light is beautiful.

This can be a Key light for most people. Materials could be slightly stronger, but they are strong enough for typical use. There?s a plastic loop on the ballast that can attach to Cstand knobs ect.

These lights are bright. I wasn't sure about them at first but watching YouTube videos, but after trying them out they are definitely bright and a great purchase.

Had one of these die on me while shooting. Returned immediately, it seems to be a common issue with these VL series lights. I heard from others that they had the same problems I did. Something about the xlr power connections getting broken or loose. Either buy the Aputure 300d ii or at a similar price point buy the Nanlite Forza 300.

This light did great for the first year of using it. Great output, quiet fan. But after a year, the power converter stopped regulating the voltage and fried my ballast. The build quality is not great. Everything is plastic, no DMX, 1% increments vs. 0.1% like other brands, no effect modes on the ballast, the dial and remote feel cheep. The list goes on. I don?t recommend going the cheaper route. Nanlite and Aputure have proven to be better products and that?s what I will be upgrading to next.

Great light panel by Godox. Be careful which V-mount batteries you choose, as even though they may be 26V, they could potentially NOT be compatible [the Wescott 26V V-mounts are not compatible]. Super solid design, great output, consistent Godex quality. No issues!

Its eveything you need for a light. 30% is enough to light up a room. I would recommend to buy an umbrella to make the light softer. Cant beat the price

Save yourself the headache and get a Forza 200! Even a GVM is a more reliable brand. I bought a VL150 in January and was really excited about it. I wish I had the same experience as these other bots but I didn't. Out of the box, the light would flicker and turn off, for me to turn on again. This dance would happen a few times in a full day's shoot. The controller was the culprit. My 3rd time using it, it would just not turn on at all. I reached out to their customer service since it was still under manufacturer's warranty and they basically told me to just go ahead and buy a replacement controller. They had no intentions of honoring their manufacturer's warranty. Godox represents everything that is awful when it comes to business etiquette, quality control, and customer care!

An impressive amount of color-accurate light with a near silent operation. This performs at the price of an Aputure, for a lot less.

Compact and powerful light for its size. Very silent. I can't see anyone having issues with noise unless they strapped a mic to the light. I do wish the power brick were better designed like the Aputure lights, but it is cheaper in price. The mount adjustment is super solid; I would say better than Aputure. One thing I noticed was a slight difference in brightness when plugged in to wall power vs battery power. Overall this is an easy light to reccomend.

The actual lights are amazing! The only thing that could be improved is if they joined the power bank and the controller box together in order to get fewer cables and clutter. The stands though are horrible and cheap so plan on getting real light stands or just bit the bullet and get c-stands that will last forever. Again the actual lights are amazing you cant go wrong with this kit.

I really like the improvements made to the series. Feels solid, sturdy, and metal. Light quality is great. As is output. Supplied case is great also. The connecting power pack is huge though but it's fine.

The light is really bright and has nice range. I am very satisfied with the output it provides and it has a great output to fan noise/heat ratio. Strong output for beautiful images. So much power that many light modifiers work great with such strong output. Pick it up you wont regret it.

The Apurture 300 MarkII best alternative.
By OMAR C.
We were looking for a powerful COB light to upgrade our kit of the previous Godox SL200 lights, and until last month there were no convincing options out there. The Aputure 300D Mark II is a fantastic light but is expensive and has some flaws; the COB is in the smaller size at 1.3 inches in diameter, limited the total output of the light, and there is no way to show the power value on the remote control which lacks an LCD screen. And when you put a unit like this outside a window, this is ne...

Very bright
By ALEJANDRO M.
Very bright, works great with an octagon b-mount diffuser. Very similar to the Aperture 300d but cheaper. I am very satisfied with the product.
The VL150 LED Video Light from Godox is a lightweight and compact LED monolite-style light source suitable for portrait, still life, and location photography, and also for video-based applications. The daylight-balanced COB LED features a CRI rating of 96 and TLCI rating of 95, producing highly accuratecolor renditions and rendering extremely realistic flesh tones. The VL150 light body is operated and powered from an external controller, keeping it compact andlightweight. It features a whisper-quiet fan and an integrated Bowens-style reflector mount, making it compatible with a wide array of light modifiers.
The controller box contains a single V-mount battery plate, and an LCD display with intuitive controls and command dial for making adjustments to the light body locally. Setting can also be adjusted wirelessly using the radio remote, or by using Bluetooth-enabled portable devices with the GodoxPhoto app, available as a free download for iOS and Android devices.
Controller Box
Moving the V-mount battery plate and light controls out of the light body and into the standalone control box allows easily placing the light wherever it needs to be without the added bulk and weight of large V-mount cells. The controller box comes complete with a 4-pin XLR type power cable for easy placement. It features an antenna for the wireless radio remote, and a Bluetooth antenna for using the GodoxPhoto app on iOS or Android portable devices.
