Shopper : Is this item new, used, or refurbished?HERB V : The one we bought was new and works wonderfullyJENNIE E : NewJIM F : As of April 2012, this was a new camera. If you go to Canon's website they have a listing of the cameras that are the current crop. The A800 is one of the cheapest they produce. It uses AA batteries (and allows for rechargeables -- which is nice). It produces basic JPGs that don't need a lot of work in PhotoShop (et al) and is nice to just have around all the time. If it gets broken or stolen I would be unhappy, but not devastated. And, yes, I would consider another one if the worst happened....

The camera doesn't have a memory card but that way I was able to choose my own gigabyte.PAULINE L : Oh, dear! I just ordered it. I read all the fine print and got the impression a memory card did come with it, but maybe it meant that it works with a memory card. Where can I buy one? Nice camera

This was a great camera to take on vacation. The pictures turned out very nice. It is small and easy to stash in a purse/bag. It has many pre-programed modes to choose from (beach, low-light, fireworks etc.)The only thing that bothered me was the flash. After taking a picture with the flash, you need to wait before taking another for the flash to "charge". This made it difficult to take two pictures in a row without making everyone wait for the flash to recharge. Other than this, I like the way the camera performs and the quality of the pictures it takes.

I give this canon a five + I use it for indoors, outdoors, and take it everywhere I go. I find the directions fair and sketches need to improve

I love my new camera!

I've only used my new camera to take pictures of my flowers so far and I like how it has worked. I'm still learning how to work it. So far, so good! I have no complaints.

Good value, plenty of features

I bought this camera before taking a 8 day backpacking trip in Glacier National Park. I like that it uses AA batteries, so I can take as many sets of batteries along as I want. Not a great zoom for wildlife shots, and slightly bulky for backpacking, but takes great pics for the money and overall a great camera.
