The laptop is great. With a docking station, external monitor, keyboard and mouse, this laptop would make for a great desktop replacement. (NOTE: I am not a gamer) I can have several programs open, have split screens between the external monitor and the laptop screen while playing HD videos with no noticeable decline in performance when working with other apps. Appreciate the hard drive protection being there, but hope to never have to use it. A $2000 software package which barely worked on my previous laptop works fairly well on this system. I am impressed with the dual-core Intel Core i5. Speeds along faster than an old Intel quad-core from one-and-a-half years ago. The brown finish looks almost black in low light situations but looks good. None of the odd circle-blobs that make some of HP's other laptops look so goofy that you wouldn't want to take them into a conference room. An encouraging thing to see with HP: I had an old HP Digital TV Tuner and HP Docking Station that utilized an old AC power adapter from a previous laptop. This laptop had the same expansion port and the docking station worked great. (Thought the old AC adapter only works plugged into the docking station... the laptop itself has a new style AC port which is an improvement over the old style). The TV Tuner also worked great. All this renewed my faith in HP after being disappointed with their refusal to create drivers for their older products when Vista came out years ago. This disappointment forced me to buy a new scanner and printer when the old ones worked fine. HP's refusal to generate a simple driver put me on an anti-HP buying trend for a long time. The fact that I can reuse the $300-$400 worth of TV Tuner, QuickDock, AC Adapter (plugged into QuickDock) peripherals has caused me to rethink this stance. Great job on this laptop HP! Hope I don't regret the decision to trust in your engineering of long-life products (despite the Vista debacle) by not purchasing an extended warranty.

Hardware is nice; quick, quiet and efficient. However, the base software configuration leaves a lot to be desired. The initial graphics settings are such that many of the window pane labels are very tough to read. Also, the configuration VERY quickly flips up new panes, menus, etc. when the cursor simply passes over their boxes. This can be handled, but it is not easy to find out how in Windows 7 to disable this stuff - Microsoft has made this all MUCH harder than necessary. I'm seriously considering putting on Vists (can't believe I'd ever say that!!!).

I bought this laptop the end of Feb. and have not been disappointed. I wanted the new i5 processor which is a total beast and handles anything I throw at it without blinking. I am the queen of multi-tasking and never have any problems with multiple windows and programs open all at the same time. I watch tv shows and movies on Hulu and never have any problems with the streaming. The unit is lightweight and easy to carry around in my backpack. The one thing I would have preferred is a larger hard drive, although 320gb is good I would have preferred 500gb. The only problem I have had is the combo sata/usb port has lost it's power for some reason but it will get fixed under the warranty. I would definately recommend this laptop to anyone who wants power of the new processor and the smallness of the unt.

Checked out several computers and by far,( The H.P. dv4 2160us) is the one. Enough power to handle all it advertises, performance is second to none with comparable laptops. H.P.tops it all off with a easy to read keyboard and the "Digital Plaid Mocha" style is top notch. Bottom line is, for the money, no computer in it's class comes close to it's performance. I highly recommend this notebook. Price performance and style, that is the H.P. dv4 2160us.

This is a fantastically flexible laptop. For home use I've connected it to a 22" monitor and the video card produces a great picture. DVDs look great. This computer is small enough that you don't need a handcart to move it around when you're traveling through airports. In fact, it's not that much bigger than the mini with the under-powered Atom processor. For work on the road, this computer never fails to deliver on business applications. I compared this computer to others and am totally satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend this laptop to small business owners, casual computer users, or anyone who needs power and portability.

I sold my Dell XPS and bought this laptop to replace it. I am happy to say this laptop for the price blows the XPS away hands down. Dell sales a latop like this for triple the price and this is worth every dinme spent! I highly recommend purchasing this product if you want performance and value...

Hewlett Packard has made an excellent performing value priced notebook here, and have done it with a pleasing cover and inside keyboard surface design (I hate the look of those models with the circles all over them). The mocha pattern design here is pleasing and non-distracting. Anyway, this machine is perfect for those requiring a smaller, more portable notebook. The Core i5 processor and its rating, the 4gb's of DDR3 memory and a 7200 rpm drive are a perfect balance of power for the money. However, HP still doesn't get it. Rather than give us everything we'd want in a 14.1 footprint, they have saved money by integrating Intel HD graphics accelerator which performs well enough, but not well enough for those of us wanting the best of everything. I would rather have paid slightly more for a dicrete nVidia card, touting a higher performance/experience rating. And finally, HP and Sony have been saving money by providing us, frankly speaking, with an adequate display screen, barely, but not a superior display. And that doesn't make sense to me, even for a value priced machine. I would have been happy to add a $100 to get this exact same machine with a quality and BRIGHTER display with power managment. This model, as others in the line, definitely lacks the brightness and quality that were on previous models. Bottom line- for the money, this machine provides value and excellent performance. We love the four we've already bought.
