very good value

HP product is good but windows 8 is not user friendly. Who's thought it was a good idea to remove the start button?

Great computer, but some flaws

Overall I really like my new Envy. WIN8 took some getting use to, but after the learning curve I found that I like it. Some of the apps are great and make routine functions more convenient. My biggest gripe with WIN8 is the game package. I miss the WIN7 games. A wireless mouse does make it easier. Using the touch pad effectively is a skill that eludes me. Startup speed and overall performance is the best I've seen in a computer. Wireless speed surprised me. When in the same room as the router, I get the same speed as on a wired connection. Previous laptops had a significant drop in speed even next to the router. The HD display is fantastic. One flaw being when the action is very fast it isn't as smooth as on a TV. That was noticed in a SCI-FY movie and isn't typical. The same movie played without the stutter when streamed to TV. Other than that minor setback, I find watching movies on it quite enjoyable. The built in speakers are surprisingly good and external speakers are not needed. My biggest complaint is the video card. I got the NVIDIA 2GB video card and discovered it was wasted money. There is no way to make the computer use it instead of the built in video adapter, which uses shared memory. The story is that the computer will use it "when it's needed." If I had known that up front, I would have added memory rather than buying a useless add-on.

Windows 8 is killing this computer

This might be a very nice laptop, but I may never know that. The Windows 8 operating system that came with it is so cumbersome and clunky to use that its nearly impossible to get any work done. It takes so long to find anything on this system. And the operating system doesn't seem very conducive to multitasking. I'm really regretting waiting until I could no longer buy a Windows 7 machine to make my purchase.

Dropped my laptop from 1 1/2 feet

This laptop, for all of its features at a good price, suffers from a screen with bad viewing angles and a questionable build quality.

This laptop has very nice features.

The lap top has a very thin profile and is light weight. The main purpose for this laptop was the ability to house a second hard drive. It is a Windows 8 OS which I found to be relatively easy to use.

Best Bang For Your Buck!

This laptop is so good for the price that u get it at! pros: screen size (17.3"), beats audio, memory (6gb) and hard drive (750gb), cons: just wish it had a little better processor, only because FPS shooters just don't run on this laptop. All other games work fairly excellent, anywhere from medium-high graphics. ex: sim city runs at medium at around 20 fps 30 on low...eve online ultra graphics at a solid 30 fps...so it all depends on the game! This is a Great product for the price and cant get anything like this anywhere else but HP!

Excellent product

Just received this laptop in the mail today, so far its been great. Ran into a few bumps here and there just because of my lack of Windows 8 knowledge. The OS is very simple once you acquaint yourself with it. A lot of apps come with the system, if that isn't your thing you can easily remove them. All in all this is a great value and so far a great system. If you're looking for maximum bang for your buck this is the way to go.

Love it!

It has Windows 8, which will take some getting used to . . . but love the large screen. It isn't heavy, has a numeric keypad which I love, and it seems fast, and just what I wanted. It is a living room computer. It was a very good buy!

Love this laptop

I got this puppy on sale & had my employee discount tagged onto that. For what i paid for this laptop it was amazing. The screen is bright and vivid. I have had no problems with this hardware or build of this laptop whatsoever. The beats audio is a nice touch and i find myself streaming my music off my NAS device more often. Though i am not a fan of Windows 8 it has taken some getting used to. This is my primary computer. I have taken the battery out, attached a 2nd monitor and use it like that. I have only had one brand of laptop my entire life and its not been HP. I am very very satisfied with this laptop. When i looked up different brands that have all these features online they were double the cost of what i paid. Even now they are still more expensive. I would suggest this laptop to anyone looking for something that is reliable!

This computer is terrible

This is the worst HP computer I have ever purchased. Have had it for about 4 months and it just runs horrible.. It's slower than my old HP, the keys only register about 75% of the time when you push them, especially the space bar. The mouse doesn't register about 80% of the time. I have tried using Internet Explorer, Mozilla and Chrome and all 3 web browsers lock up every 30-45 seconds for about 10-15 seconds so when trying to scroll through pictures or watch a video is virtually impossible. Also for no reason the computer will turn it self off and reboot. Then upon start up it says "Your PC has run into a problem and was forced to shut down" It has done that approximately 50 times since purchase. To me it sounds like it is probably windows 8 but without being able to put 7 on theres no way to tell.

Worst HP product I have seen.

This is by far the worst HP computer I have seen, possible the worst computer period. I purchased this model and had to return it with in the first week. The speakers did not work right, different screens would pop up at random times, it had a sharp metal edge and many more problems. They sent me the same model, and from the time it came out of the box I have had nothing but problems. After I went through the original set up process, it told me windows would not work and I had to do the whole set up again. After that it made me personalize twice as well. On top of that one of the keys sticks every time you use it, so you have to pop it back out, and the screen cover pops when you touch it. It also has a glitch internally, while searching the web it will randomly pop up and say Internet connection lost, while it loads the page. To make matters worse I called HP and they wanted to send me the same model again, or I could buy the same model in the 15.6 screen and pay them more money. They were not helpful at all. I had always thought very highly of HP, but now I will never by another HP laptop.

Nice

Nice laptop that does most of what we wanted it to be able to do. Windows 8...well...the jury is still out on that matter. Not as fast as we thought it would be, probably because of all the graphics. I think I liked Windows 7 better, but am still getting used to 8.

Love the big display

The big, bright 17" display is great! It solves my one issue with laptops. Others I've had with smaller displays just annoyed me with all the scrolling required. This replaced both a laptop and a desktop, so now I can keep everything I need in one place.

Great product for the price

I got this laptop for $577 including taxes and free shipping, and I think it's pretty decent due to the fact that it was on sale for $200 off. The laptop is metal frame and it doesn't feel cheap or plastic like. It came with a 750 gb harddrive preloaded and partitioned with windows 8. Windows 8 is AWFUL. Therefore, I switched back to Windows 7. PROS There is an extra harddrive spot to add a second harddrive. The harddrive cable is not provided for the second one. The screen 17.3 is HUGE compared to 15.6. You may not think of that 2.3 inches making a big difference, but it really does. The computer has a finger swipe and it's easy to log into the computer when you dont want to type in a password. The webcam takes great quality picture and has great video. The laptop itself comes with 6gb of RAM, but you can easily change it out and upgrade to 8 gb because one of the card is 2gb and the other is 4gb. CONS The laptop graphics card is decent. It got a 5.7 on the windows test, compared to my previous laptop graphics card which got a 6.8. The laptop is quite heavy. You will feel it heavy when you carry it around because of its sheer size. The screen doesn't really look THAT HD when I tried to view HD movies because the pictures look sort of dull.

Great laptop for the money!

Awesome laptop, well built, high quality. Usually buy other brands, haven't bought an HP for over 10 years. HOWEVER, after researching the specs and reviews of this laptop, I decided to give HP another try. Very glad I did! Very fast and nice display, seems very solid. It also has lots of expandability. 2nd HD bay, up to 16Gb RAM in the 2 slots (which I am upgrading soon). FOLKS - Windows 8 is great - don't pay attention to the naysayers. It is a little different than previous Windows releases, but you will like it. My advice is to watch a few online videos about the new Start screen which replaces the Start button. That's really most of the differences. I am a senior software engineer (over 25 years of experience) and I highly recommend Win8. Just take some time to watch some training videos, figure out the touchpad shortcuts, and you will be fine. Hot tip - I couldn't find the Control Panel. Watched a video and found out you can right-click in the lower left corner and it all comes up (Control Panel, Event Viewer, etc.). VERY COOL. You will love this laptop and Windows 8. Cheers!

Clean, smooth, a pleasure to use

Lots of things to like about this computer. It's fast, screen is large, but not overwhelming. This replaced my office desktop, and I couldn't be happier. The keyboard is easy to use, even for a hunt and peck system like mine. Only downer is the reflective glare on the screen.

Solid Laptop with W8

The Operating System- Windows 8: Before I bought this computer I was really nervous only do to the fact that there were a lot of reviews complaining about Windows 8. Numerous reviews saying that is is really confusing and is not a good OS. And I'm talking from sites on here, amazon, best buy. Again nothing about the computer itself but just Windows 8. LISTEN.LOL Windows 8 is so simple..lol When I purchased this computer and started it up, it was so smooth and the introduction was beautiful. So many start off tutorials of how to navigate through the system. ALL WINDOWS 8 IS A NEW START MENU WITH TILES OF A LOT OF APPLICATIONS. THE DESKTOP IS THE SAME AS WINDOWS 7. THE START MENU STILL IN LOWER LEFT HAND CORNER BUT INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL BUTTON, A TAB APPEARS WHEN YOU SCROLL TO THE LOWER LEFT CORNER. IT IS SIMPLY AWESOME AND AMAZING. 6 YR OLD SON USES IT ALL THE TIME WITH NO PROBLEMS.. LISTEN, BASICALLY I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW IN THE WORLD PEOPLE CAN SAY WINDOWS 8 IS HARD..HONESTLY A JOKE!.. Laptop-HP ENVY DV7 7320US: Awesome . Slick new design. Lightweight and really fast. I downloaded Solidworks 2012 Premium from work and the laptop has no lag nor has its speed slowed down. Awesome features and beats sound on unit is really nice. BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. A MUSSSSSSSST BUY.

Love My Computer

I spent many hours reviewing computers and this was my final decision. I wanted a large screen and yet I didn't want it to be extremely heavy. I had to sacrifice some battery life because of the processor but the computer runs so well, it was worth it. The large screen really helps ease some strain because I use my laptop as my main computer. Not a big fan of Windows 8 however that is not the computers fault. My computer has run seamlessly and the picture is large plus clear. Beats Audio is awesome! I had it on a previous cell phone so I enjoy the music quality. I have been using my computer for a few weeks now and I cannot imagine running my old computer anymore. It was so slow and small compared to this lovely device. If you want a large screen, fast processor, and do not mind a slightly shorter battery life then go with this computer. I feel it was the best choice I could have made on a limited budget. I love it! I also love HP. I had a Dell previously and I am glad I made the switch.

Overall Great Computer!

I've only had this computer a few days but overall I love it. The weight is perfect and the size is great. I love that it has the numeric keypad built in so that I don't have to buy a separate accessory. The only thing I would change on it is the Windows 8. I wish HP had given you a choice of what operating system to install as I'm not a big fan of W8. I guess I'll just use it till Microsoft comes out with something better. Also - I've noticed that the Beats Audio doesn't really make that much of a difference in the sound compared to my basic, work laptop. The biggest difference that I've seen is that it's louder and has a little deeper tones to it. Overall still a great computer that I would recommend :).

New laptops have really got it!

Not a lot to say because I'm still learning how to use Windows 8. The Envy laptop is solid and works like a charm. Really like the fingerprint security feature. Beats audio is marvelous but most of all... 15-20 seconds from turn-on to ready for use! Now if I can just master the non-intuitive Windows 8!

Super Package

Fast delivery and easy setup. You got to try windows 8 to believe how good it is. AMD A-8 is super fast and does quite well with games. This is one of the few items that I have purchased that I am 100 percent happy with. NO negatives so far.

awesome

I actually really love this laptop. Windows 8 is awesome also. It is super user friendly and easy to navigate. I did have some problems doing some updates, but that problem was easily fixed. I am incredibly satisfied with my purchase. I bought a similar product form Best Buy and it wouldn't even start up. When I took it back they told me that the manufacturer didn't install all of the drivers to make it start. I am super excited to know that I was able to order this product online and have it delivered to my door within a reasonable amount of time. It works and it is amazing!

Great for Gaming!!!

I bought this model because, with the options I selected, it was highly recommended for gaming . . . and that has proven to be the case . . . the speed is awesome, the graphics are excellent, the Beats audio is just as good as Bose, if not better . . . so if you're into gaming, or just want a system that will give you excellect sound . . . at a VERY affordable price, then this system is for you!!! I received it with Windows 8 and, while I prefer my old XP desktop system, the Windows 8 program...
