purchased this as a replacement of my D850 and i was very concerned since i have always been told that more megapixels the better the picture quality. Finally had enough for a used one and went out with my 500Pf lens and right away i knew that this camera was on a different level.. I dont know how or why but this 19 megapixel camera can produce pictures like nothing i have ever had.. Comparing this to my D500,D850,D750 D600? The D6 has the best focus tracking and more accurate then any of them. Note: Adoramas used department it amazing, This camera was used and stated some ware, I thought they sent me a brand new camera... So, Thank you for that

I'm still learning the new features coming from a Nikon D500 and D810. So far the transition is not to bad. I love the fast shutters speeds and touch screen display and resolution. Plus it's built like a tank. It's heavy. But that is actually one of the things I like about it. As adds more stability with hand holding and panning with the camera.

Best DSLR ever made for action photographers! I'm a 20 year veteran photojournalist, and I've shot every Nikon flagship since the F5! I've had D1-D6 and everything in-between such as the D700, D8xxx series, up to and including the D850! While I love the D850, the D6 is just on whole another level AF speed and accuracy wise. Plus it's 14fps is a noticeable jump over the 7-9fps on my D850! The Nikon D6 is by far the best noise performance in any camera I've ever shot. This along with Nikons latest VR lenses really help me shoot in darkness. Being a photojournalist often means working in mixed or just dark lighting and the white balance and noise performance at high ISO is unbeatable on the D6! Lastly I utilize and rely on the WT-6A wireless adapter for my workflow and it's 100% reliable and works up to 650ft range. The Z9 and Z8 lack this ability and therefor I'm sticking with D6 bodies for my work.

I have had the D5, still do. The D6 was worth the purchase as the enhancements to the focus is amazing. We primarily shoot Rodeo and Surfing action. For sports and action photography there is no better choice.

I have been shooting the Nikon D4 for the last 3 years and I love the camera, but when I finally took the plunge and got the Nikon D6 I was blown away with the auto white balance and the speed with which it focuses. I know everyone is going mirrorless, but I like DSLR cameras, especially the Nikon Pro Bodies. The is absolutely the best camera I have ever gotten my hands on.

At first I was a little disapointed in the D6, auto focus, but once they corrected it in the updates, I am a very happy with it, I would love to test the first pro Z9 Nikon :-)

I had originally got a bad one...terrible focusing issues and sent it back for another one. This one seems to be fine although I have not had the opportunity to use it that much. What I am more impressed with is the communication with customer service and how fast the return/exchange was. Very smooth and they were quick with replies to my emails and that made a world of difference for me about the whole process...thank you very much.

I have been a Nikon user shooting birds photography since 2008, using D700, D3s, D4, D4s, D5 and D6. My primary lenses: 300f4, 500f4G, 300 f4 pf, 600 mm f4G and 800mm f5.6 E. Life began getting better with D3s and 600 mm f4G and much better with D4s back then. D5 was a real changer and I was in paradise shooting birds with better success rate, better dynamic range for picture quality. I thought it was the limit but No! D6 focusing and dynamic range are even better, its menu system also gives me more options, flexibility for shooting birds in flight. Nowadays I travel with my D6 connected to the 800mm lens, shooting on tripod; and a D5 on 500 f4 shooting handheld. My only wish now is Nikon coming out with Z9, much lighter and even better focusing and frame rates that would help me continue my hobby in my retirement age. Thank you Nikon

The D6 is the best camera I've seen in 30 years for low light/high Iso situations. So many programable buttons. I like the D6 so much I purchased a second one. One outstanding camera for action and wildlife.

My main focus is wildlife photography. I push the limits in all types of habitat and weather conditions. The primary lens I use is NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED along with NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED and NIKKOR 300mm F/2.8G ED VR II. When I purchased my D4s, I thought I had gone to heaven for the speed, low light conditions, dynamic range, AF, and how great it felt in my hand. But, as with any professional situation, you are always looking for ways to improve your results, so I ended up purchasing a D5 which in itself is a great camera. I kept my D4s as a secondary body. When news of the D6 started to flow out, I analyzed all the good and bad reviews, looking for crucial improvements that I could take advantage of, even if there were minor improvements. From my perspective, if I can see an ROI of 2 or 3 amazing shots per trip by upgrading to this camera, that can make a huge difference in delivering the result my clients expect. It was a tough decision, but I sold my D4s and purchased the D6 in August 2020. I can't tell you how pleased I am with the performance of my D6 in all kinds of weather conditions, especially paired up with my NIKKOR 600mm f/4. It's all those key improvements that add up to make this a tremendous camera. My camera bag always has my D850 and D5 with me, but my D6 is my go-to camera. Just a fantastic Camera, you will not be disappointed! Tom :)

I purchased the D6 for professional event work, adventure magazine work and wildlife. However, I found it to be an excellent landscape camera as I recently spent 10 days exploring southern Utah. I appreciate the built-in GPS for automatic geo-tagging. Photo results were stunning: colors, dynamic range, and sharpness with Nikon lenses. The camera is rugged. Button placement and responsiveness makes me confident when using this camera for professional work. I shoot high profile public figures at major events and I cannot afford to have a camera that hesitates or fails. This D6 is by far my favorite Nikon. I even used it for astrophotography.

I have used Nikon ever since buying the D50 in 2005 and my purchases have progressed up the chain since. I currently have the full suite of current Nikon DSLRs (610,780, and 850), and now, the D6. I have owned a few DSLR flagships: The D3s, 4s, 5 and now the D6. The D6 will not disappoint. It's everything the brochure says it is: Amazing AF, excellent color rendition, accurate white balance, and solid build quality. I highly recommend the Nikon D6, and not just for sports and action but other areas as well such as portraiture, food, and general events.

Yes, it's sturdy and reliable. It's the most connected Nikon thus far. It performs in low light where lesser cameras do not. The thing that impresses me most about the D6, however, is its' autofocus capability. I shoot a lot of wildlife; birds in flight in particular. When I pair the D6 with the 800mm f/5.6 Nikkor, focus lock is quick and tenacious. 3-D Tracking is my AF-area mode of choice. Using Continuous-servo AF (AF-C), I'm able to lock on to a bird and reliably hold focus, even when the bird flies directly toward me. As I handhold most of my shots, this is even more impressive to me. When shooting sports, the AF locks and tracks focus on a selected player even when that player momentarily weaves through a crowd. I own the D810, D850, Z7, and D5. I believe the D6 is superior to them all as far as autofocus is concerned. Keep up the good work, Nikon.

Love the camera and the low light performance is great. I took my Nikon D6 and my Nikon 200-500 F5.6 lens to Africa. This photo was taken with it. Taken 14,000 photos on my Safari. The Battery life is great I didn't have to charge it until after the 3 days.

Perfect DSLR, wish they come out with the z9 already. my z7II is nowhere as fast focusing as the d6 and does not track as well as the D6. Yes I am moving to mirrorless. Perhaps nikon can come up with a mirrorless lens to F mount body like the FTZ.

I've been a professional Nikon user for 25 years; I shoot commercial, sports, and portraiture. My D6 never lets me down. It's a beast and a workhorse but this is why I only buy Nikon professional models. I've used the D1x, D2xs, D3s and D4s. This is the best yet. Please continue to support your professional photographers with these first rate cameras!!

Fantastic camera. So great that I can send full JPEG Images to my Iphone in seconds and the 14 FPS capability with my Nikon 500mm FL let?s me capture images that I would have missed before. The tremendous number of settings available on this camera is just remarkable and it?s enhanced ability to focus onto a moving subject is incredible. This is Nikons finest.

The D6 is a seamless part of my photography. Its speed, agility and functionality focus my attention on the subject, I'm not distracted by the photographic process like no other DSLR. Shooting stills and video is so much fun it's a joy to shoot with the D6 every time. I couldn't live or work without it! Moose Peterson

I was skeptical as I read the many comments spewed out before the camera actually arrived. I had been using the D5 for several years and was still pleased with it. But without hesitation I took the leap and bought a D6. WOW - Such a super upgrade. It?s absolutely the best DSLR ever made, it truly is. It?s improved in every aspect of use. The focus and menus are faster and extended. I have not had to adjust focus on any of my pro lenses; they are spot dead on sharp focus with no concern. How did Nikon do that? Battery life is super. D6 is fast and responsive, rip off 60 or 70 photos and look down to the green busy light, it?s off, even if making NEF + jpg files. I?ll end saying this ? out of camera snaps are SUPER! I edit my NIF?s, and then look at the out of camera NEF and often it is better than the edited version. Insane, but true. I love this camera.

I have used Nikon cameras and lens for 50 years, and the D6 is the best camera ever of Nikon brand. Perhaps the best camera ever made. As a sports photographer I know I am not limited by the technology and know that the image quality is first rate and can be used for any publication.

This camera is the best if you want to shoot action .... birds, sports, auto racing, wildlife, you name it!! The autofocus locks on like a sniper! This camera with the right lens combo , you will be amazed how this camera will make your pictures that much better. The WiFi and the ability to load your photos right to your phone ?Via snap bridge? is also a great feature! The customization with this camera is second to none! You can literally flick the screen and the picture is loaded into your smart phone/ laptop ! I can go on and on about how great this camera is .... so I?ll end with this camera is worth every penny !!! Also I own the Nikon d850 .... also a great camera for just about anything !! Ken Miks Sr.

I read a lot of comments on the internet before purchasing the Nikon D6 and most were posted after Nikon announced the D6 and were negative in nature because they were expecting more features. I was a bit deterred but decided to go ahead and purchase Nikon’s flagship camera because I REALLY needed an upgrade from my D4 and D800 cameras after having photographed an indoor event earlier in the year and found that my iPhone took better low light photos than either of the two. That was a real eye opener! I have found the D6’s low light capabilities simply AMAZING! It didn’t take me long to figure out that this was significant upgrade over the D4 and D800 with regards to low light photography. Additionally, the build in GPS and Bluetooth and Wifi capabilities have really enhanced my workflow experience in a very needed way. Is this a big leap over the D5? I cannot say since I’ve never tried a D5, but if you want the best, then the D6 is the camera for you.

I have had the D6 since May and came to it from the D3, D4, D4s. I shoot almost exclusively birds in southern Florida. The camera was initially hard for me to get the best focusing performance, but after reading hints from the forums on Group AFC, I finally found that the C1 group of 3x7 gives me an almost perfect capture of all shots in focus of birds flying towards the camera. Without doubt it is the best camera I have had in this, for me, most important performance aspect.

Nikon D6 Worth The Money
By Robert B.
I heard all the negative reviews about the d6 that it didn't shoot video well or the live view wasn't very good. I have had an d850 and d750 and never used that feature on any of them. This camera is a stills camera the autofocus is faster and more accurate than any other cameras out there and it has many other features that make it well worth buying. I think most of the people talking bad about the camera will never own one.
