Great camera!!! I'm sure that I will never use all of the features that it has to offer but I'm glad that as my technical skills improve, this camera body's bells and whistles are available as my knowledge of photography increases.

Absolutely delighted. Nikon is phasing out F mount bodies, so I bought this second one on sale. I have a substantial investment in F mount lenses, and zero interest in moving to mirrorless.

So far I'm left in the d850. You can come from a d90 that I've been shooting with for the past 13 years. Wanted to make the jump to full frame before a big trip that I have planned. The camera feels rugged and there's plenty of tutorials on how to get the most out of the camera.

Beautiful camera with 42 megapixels the quality is unmatched. You could blow a photo of 10 foot and still look good. Highly recommend it.

I have enjoyed my first D850 for 6 years, and decided to purchase a second one as a backup, and a secondary lens setup on my photography ventures. I have no desire for any other camera with this proven winner. Highly recommend!!

I acquired the Nikon D850 upon its release several years ago, primarily for travel photography. While my passion is travel, not professional photography, the camera's strengths are well-documented. However, its significant weight and size present challenges. Extended periods with the camera around my neck are uncomfortable, and accessing it from my backpack while traveling is inconvenient. I predominantly use a zoom lens to minimize lens changes, resulting in underutilization of my 50mm prime lens. Employing primarily manual settings has rekindled skills honed in my youth with a Leica M2. The camera's flash capabilities are exceptional, and I intend to explore the use of dual flash units. Regardless, mastering the D850's full potential necessitates dedicated practice and training. I am 63 merchant marine officer still boarding ships.

I went from a Nikon D3 to a Nikon 850 which was a quantum leap in image quality. Built exceptionally well with good balance in the hands. My only pet peeve is that it doesn't show the exact frame number in the LCD display. Unless I am doing something wrong, it might be because the memory card holds so many images, it would take up too much space in the display. With a new card, mine shows 1.7k, which I assume means 1,700. Otherwise great camera.

After years of being stingy I upgraded to this camera from the D750. Wow! This is terrific and I wish I'd done it sooner. The file sizes are large enough that I can crop out little mistakes around the edges without ruining my shot. The best part is that I was able to keep all my original lenses without adapters. I highly recommend this camera to anyone with a bit of experience shooting.

Purchased a second D850 as a backup to my first one. I have had my first one since 2018. It's a beast, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I have no desire to go mirrorless.

of course the D850 was great. the bundle, unfortunately was a bunch of low quality product, you would think this fairly high end camera would be bundled with better quality stuff. the memory card was fine. battery is after market. card reader has already failed. bag too small for anything. delivery was super quick. even with the crappy bundle, i am happy with adorama and will shop again.

All I needed was the Nikon 850 but the extras I gave to my kid to use Which was great. The D850 is a strong camera and hopefully will be in the line for a couple more years

Great camera! Competitive with full frame mirrorless bodies (considered Z7II) while maintaining familiar DSLR controls and style. Additionally, great selection of excellent condition DSLR lenses are available from Adorama due to many individuals transitioning to mirrorless. The bundled items were useful and sold me on adorama versus competitors

I just did my first session and the clarity is amazing. The high ISO capabilities are way better than the D610 I used previously. The kit had lots of great extras that buying from Amazon won't give you for the same price.

Despite the releases of so many new cameras, this camera still remains relevant and will continue to be. The ergonomics, the sensor, the image quality, the easy of use and availability of great lenses makes this a keeper.

Bought this camera almost 5 years ago and never looked back. The ergonomics are incredible, the images you capture with this will drop your jaw from the back screen to the big screen, the jpegs SOOC are sublime, as I write this in 2023 in an era where mirrorless is the "future" I confidently say there I have zero desire to "upgrade" unless my D850 and all other D850s around the the world simultaneously combusted along with the schematics to manufacture new D850s. There's a reason why all the new 45mp mirrorless Nikons being are compared to this 5 year old camera when your assumed that they moved on to a newer camera as a point of refrence: because ithe D850 is just that good. Video is an afterthought, features that Nikon merely tacked on to just say they're on there. Outside of static postiion video recordings, I wouldn't choose this for video if that's in your top 3 list of priorities for a camera purchase, this is a stills Jack-of-all-trades tool

Came from Nik 810 and before that 800e. Tried out d850 4 years ago and sensor better if cropping, so really better. Waited for N upgrade with meaningful better sensor, ie., Z series, but pretty close didn't mean worth upgrade for me. Already have range of N primes, zooms, 300 2.8, nik 200mm macro, etc. Yet to pull trigger on 500mm. 20 yr Nikon user. Decided to use existing lenses w D850. I bought 250 mb card which prob don't need as won't be doing video. Point is new cards should be factored into alternative cost of Z9. I thought focus shifting a bonus but doesn't work with my macro lenses that aren't afs, menu grayed out, bummer, as focus shift for macro might be nice. Live view and focus peaking for macro, only in manual mode, works and is useful. That one reason worth keeping, for me. Nikon long telephoto are expensive and so much so that if I add that would strongly consider entire switch to Sony if I decide long tele and birds in flight something I "need."

I couldn't be more pleased with this Nikon D850. I was concerned that, being an amateur, the camera would be too overwhelming. In good ways it is overwhelming! Other reviewers spoke so highly of the Nikon D850 I couldn't resist. So far I have only touched the surface of the capabilities and look forward to learning so much more! Adorama's description of the item (used) was very accurate.

"The Nikon D850 and I go way back. It's been my go-to camera for portrait photography, and the camera I recommend to any Nikon shooters ready to step up their game. If you want the highest-res images with sharp, precise details, put the D850 on your list."
The D850 puts staggering image quality and impressive performance within reach of working photographers everywhere.
At the heart of the D850 is a back-side illuminated (BSI) FX-format full-frame CMOS image sensor with 45.7 megapixels and no optical low-pass filter. A marvel of ingenuity, it achieves extraordinary image quality, enhanced light gathering efficiency, faster data readout and truer color with virtually no risk of moiré
EXPEED 5 quickly processes all 45.7 megapixels of data for lower noise, wider dynamic range, subtle tonal and textural details, high-speed continuous shooting at approx. 9 fps* and full-frame 4K UHD movie recording.
The lower the ISO, the greater the dynamic range. Like the D810 before it, the D850 has the lowest base ISO of any DSLR or mirrorless camera**—ISO 64 (expandable down to ISO 32).
Fast continuous shooting, flagship autofocus and precise metering.
7 FPS Continuous Shooting Speed.
9 FPS With Optional MB-D18 Battery Grip & EN-EL18b/a Battery
With a continuous shooting speed of 7 fps or 9 fps using the optional MB-D18 battery pack with EN-EL 18b/a Lithium-ion Battery, the D850 can capture those perfect moments in action from a bride walking down the aisle to gravity-defying sports shots at it’s full 45.7 MP resolution.
With 153 focus points, 99 cross-type sensors and a dedicated AF processor, the D850 combines the best of flagship AF technology so that you can be assured that your high resolution images are as sharp as can be.
Focus in near darkness down to -4 EV to capture moody low-light scenes. Suddenly, fast NIKKOR primes and zooms can handle even lower light than before.
Record 16:9 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) in full frame glory using the total width of the D850’s back-side illuminated CMOS sensor. Take advantage of the large sensor size for clean output at high ISO and for shooting with zero crop factor with full-frame NIKKOR lenses, including wide and ultra-wide angle lenses.
Create jaw-dropping 4K time-lapse movies right in-camera or exquisitely-detailed 8K time-lapse sequences of up to 9,999 full-size stills using D850’s Interval Timer Mode.
Transform dramatic moments into dazzling fluid slow-motion sequences. Record 4x (shoot at 120p, playback at 30/25p) or 5x (shoot at 120p, playback at 24p) slow-motion at 1080p.
When audio levels rise unexpectedly, D850’s sound attenuator automatically reduces the microphone sensitivity to prevent distortion and maintain smooth recording with clear sound.
Confirm your manual focus with Focus Peaking. Select high, medium or low sensitivity and red, yellow, blue or white highlights.
Avoid overly bright or blown-out highlights in your videos with D850’s three selectable Zebra Stripes highlight detection patterns.
The tilting touchscreen LCD makes it easy to get the shot, even from high or low angels. Use Touch AF, Touch Shutter control and navigate menus, playback and more as if you were using a touch-enabled smart device. Zoom in during Live View shooting and use the new Pinpoint AF to put focus right where you want it.
Create images with extraordinary depth of field using Focus Shift Mode. Set focal steps from 1 to 10 for up to 300 automated shots and D850 will automatically shift focus between shots and collect the images in a dedicated folder for easy identification when using 3rd party focus stacking software.
When silence is golden - shooting golf, press conferences, weddings and more - turn on Silent Photography in Live View and capture without sound or mechanical vibration. In mode 1, shoot for up to 6 fps continuous at 45.7 MP. In Mode 2, shoot approx. 8.6-megapixel pictures in DX image area at approx. 30 fps for up to 3 seconds.
Add the new MB-D18 Multi Battery Power Pack for improved handling with telephoto prime or telephoto zoom lenses, and increase your shooting speed to 9 fps at full resolution.
When you’ve got a deadline, transfer speed can make all the difference. Transfer images and movie files to a PC or FTP server via wired LAN/wireless LAN using the optional WT-7 Wireless Transmitter.
Digitize the gems from your film days at D850’s full 45.7 MP using the new optional ES-2 Film Digitizer Adapter on a compatible Micro-NIKKOR lens.
When combined with the optional WR-A10/R10 transceiver, the D850 can control and wirelessly fire radio controlled SB-5000 Speedlights from another room, around corners or outdoors in bright sunlight.
Control the look of your photos and videos with Nikon’s Picture Control System. Spend more time in the field focusing on being creative and less time post-processing. Select Auto Picture Control and let the D850 optimize the look for your specific shot.
Using optional XQD storage allows for optimum handling of D850’s incredible high resolution files and shooting speeds. SD can be used for back up, overflow or just as extra storage space.
Seamlessly switch between RAW sizes of Large (45.4 MP), Medium (25.6 MP) and Small (11.4 MP), whichever fits your need or workflow. Save time with RAW batch processing right in the camera.
Transfer images to a compatible smartphone or tablet instantly using Nikon’s SnapBridge app and the D850’s constant Bluetooth Low Energy connection.
Whether in the studio or on-location, from the catwalk or the scenic overlook to a wedding ceremony or night sky, the Nikon D850 is the versatile tool to capture all, with astounding resolution and speed.
All day shooting shouldn't require frequent battery changes. The D850 is extremely energy efficient and can shoot approx 1,840 shots at full resolution or approx. 70 minutes of video on a single charge.
The D850 is built for extreme durability using rugged magnesium alloy and carbon fiber materials. The sturdy camera body protects the sophisticated technologies inside against accidental shock.
The D850 has extensive weather and dust sealing applied to its joint parts and seams, allowing you to shoot with confidence, even in harsh weather conditions and the most extreme environments.
